Substance Treatment and Research Service (STARS)

If marijuana is a problem for you, STARS may be able to help. Participation in our treatment research studies for Cannabis Use Disorder is completely voluntary, free, and confidential.

As a research participant enrolled in one of our marijuana addiction treatment studies, you can expect your treatment to include any or all of the following, depending upon the study:

MEDICATION Our medical team, composed of addiction psychiatrists and trained nurse practitioners may provide medication for you to take regularly over the course of the study. In addition, they may meet with you regularly to assess your safety and well-being, your physical and mental health, and your progress in cutting back on marijuana use.

THERAPY Our treatment research team includes psychologists, licensed social workers, trained counselors, and other mental health professionals. As part of your treatment, you may be offered private, one-on-one weekly therapy with one of our therapists, computer-assisted behavioral therapy, or both.

HEALTH MONITORING Our trained research staff will assess your vital signs, periodically collect blood and urine samples, and obtain electrocardiograms (EKGs) and other assessments for review by physicians

CONTINUITY OF CARE We will work with you to ensure that you have proper referrals to continue treatment after leaving our care at the end of our treatment studies.

Participation in our research studies is completely voluntary, free, and confidential. In addition, you may also be reimbursed each visit for time and travel.
