A visit to the Zoo is always very interesting. Last Sunday I went to the Delhi Zoo with my friends. First of all we saw apes and monkeys in different cages. They were climbing up and down their cage. In other cages, tigers, lions, bears, foxes, wolves, and zebras were kept.

We also saw deer and kangaroos. Next, we saw many varieties of birds like cranes, ducks, pigeons, parrots, kingfishers, owls, etc. We also saw our national bird peacock in the zoo. Then we came to the glass houses. Animals of different kinds and colour were kept in them. At last, we enjoyed an elephant ride and returned home.

Last Sunday, I visited a zoo with my family. First, we went round the bird’s section. We saw parrots, sparrows, pigeons, peacocks, eagles, and vultures. Then we saw the cages of wild animals like tigers, lions, and leopards. A lion was walking up and down restlessly. It often roared furiously. The baby tigers were playing in their cage.

We saw the deer park, where only the deer were kept. We also saw zebras, bears, foxes, giraffes, a hippo, and a rhino. Then we went to the huge enclosure where the elephants were kept. They were eating grasses, leaves, and bananas. We enjoyed watching the monkeys.

We saw serpents, pythons, and cobras. Next, we saw many swans and ducks swimming gracefully in a big pool of water. The crocodiles lay Lazily near the water. We also saw a tank which contained small fishes of fine colours. We had a great fun at the zoo.

A Visit to Zoo Essay: 200 Words

A zoo is a place where animals and birds are kept for public display. We, the three friends, went to the Alipore Zoo, Kolkata. We saw two elephants, tied with iron chains by their hind legs. The visitors offered them bananas or nuts which they gladly accepted and swallowed. We were greatly amused to see the huge animals from so near.

Then we visited the bird’s section. There were hundreds of birds. They were of various colours and had lovely plumage (feathers). Their chirping produced soft music. The twittering of sparrows was very pleasant to the ear. At some distance, there was a big pool of water. Many ducks and swans were swimming gracefully in it. We also saw a tank which contained small fishes of fine colours.

Then we came to the cages of tigers, panthers, leopards and lions. They were wonderful. The serpent house gave us a new experience. We saw there various types of snakes on the first floor. Then we saw the bisons, the camels, the ostriches and the bats. The zebras and giraffes were really beautiful who looked innocent and friendly.

It was about 2 P.M when we had taken some light refreshment in the zoo canteen. In this way, we passed the day with much delight and acquired a wonderful experience.

A Visit to a Zoo Essay: 250 Words

A Visit To A Zoo is very thrilling. I went to see the zoo with my younger brother. One is surprised to see such a variety of animals and birds. It was an interesting sight. First of all, we saw the monkeys. They were of many kinds and very amusing. We offered some nuts to them.

Then we came to the lions. They looked very fierce and majestic. They were kept in an open place enclosed with high iron railings. Sometimes they roared terribly. Next, we saw the tigers. They had yellow skins with black stripes on them. In the next two cages, there were a wolf and a fox. The wolf was sleeping, but the fox was walking within the cage.

Then we saw the long-necked giraffe, the dark-striped zebra, the thick-skinned rhinoceros, and a huge elephant with beautiful ivory tusks. We were very pleased to see them. After this, we came to the glass houses where reptiles were kept. There were snakes, cobras, and serpents. Some of them looked fearful. We did not stay there long.

Then we came to the fences where peacocks were kept. It was a treat to see one of them in his pride (i.e. with his tail spread like a fan).

We stayed three for three hours. We were tired. At last, we went to the cafe and had some refreshment and tea. Then we returned home. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Essay on a Visit to a Zoo: 500 Words

Introduction:.

Everyone needs relaxation and an occasional deviation from the drudgeries of daily existence. A visit to a zoo can offer him these. At the same time, it is a learning experience. It was with this intention that visited the Alipore Zoological Garden last 25th December with some of my friends. This visit was memorable because it was both enjoyable and educational.

Entering the Zoo:

We reached the gate of the zoo in a taxi around 10 am. One has to buy tickets to enter the zoo. A number of visitors were already standing in a queue before the ticket counter. We stood behind them, got our tickets and entered the big arena of the zoo.

Various Types of Birds and Animals:

We crossed the green sward and were greeted by varieties of monkeys in cages. Monkeys and baboons were jumping on the trees within their enclosures. When some people threw food at them, they immediately jumped down from the trees to eat. Some children were making faces at them.

Then, we came across a beautiful lake in which some water birds like ducks and swans were present. There were some migratory birds as well. As we moved, we came to the big netted enclosure in which birds were kept. There were sparrows, parrots, and many other birds. Most of them were twittering, chirping and whistling. But the owls were sitting with their eyes closed as if they were lost in deep thought. The chirping of the birds went on ringing deep in my heart. In their songs, I heard the voice of nature to which the whole universe surrendered. I felt that all was right with the world.

We visited the tigers, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos and elephants. Roars of the lions and the tigers were deafening. We found a tiger pacing restlessly with its bloodshot eyes. It was strongly built.

Then we came across a garden in which stags and deer were frisking about. These animals were very agile and beautiful.

Our next halt was at the aquarium section. There were fishes of many species and colours. To see them swimming to and fro in the water was really a rewarding experience. Just beside this enclosure, was the cage of a black bear. It attracted a mammoth gathering. The bear was playing many tricks that thrilled us. Some people offered it eatables which it gulped at once.

Leaving the Zoo:

At about 2 pm, feeling tired, we rested and relaxed on the grassy ground for half an hour. The fragrance of flowers coming from somewhere was really soothing. We again began to stroll around the zoo after having our lunch. We saw a variety of amphibians like crocodiles, snakes, frogs, and a variety of other creatures. Then we hired a boat and enjoyed a short pleasurable ride in the canal. It was around 5 pm when we came out of the zoo. We boarded a bus, casting our last and lingering look on the zoo.

Conclusion:

I reached home in a cheerful mood. This visit refreshed my mind and deepened my awareness of the animal world.

Essay on Visit to Zoo in 100 Words

The trip to the National Zoological Park in New Delhi, which features terrestrial animals from different parts of the world, is a worthwhile experience for both young people and adults. As soon as we walked in, we were mesmerized by the bright colors and noisy chorus of exotic birds. Particularly noteworthy were the elephants’ majesty and the monkeys’ entertaining antics. Every display, which featured everything from lush rainforests to deserts, was instructive and emphasised the value of conservation. The fascinating discussion about endangered species given by a zookeeper was the high point. This trip not only made me appreciate wildlife even more, but it also made clear how important zoos are to the cause of animal conservation.

Essay on Visit to Zoo in 150 Words

Our recent visit to the metropolitan zoo offered a vivid exploration of global wildlife, turning a sunny afternoon into an educational adventure. As we entered, the vibrant chatter of tropical birds and distant roars set an exhilarating tone. We were drawn first to the primates, where playful gibbons swung with remarkable agility, capturing everyone’s imagination. The reptile house offered a stark contrast, with its quiet and cautious inhabitants like the regal python and the sharp-eyed alligators.
The elephant enclosure’s zookeeper’s discourse, which covered the difficulties of wildlife conservation and the function zoos play in safeguarding species, had a particularly powerful effect. Observing and studying the behaviours of lions served as a potent reminder of the intricacy and beauty of nature. In addition to being enjoyable, the tour served as a poignant reminder of our duty to protect animals, instilling in us a greater appreciation and fascination for the natural world.

Essay on Visit to Zoo in 250 Words

Visiting the zoo provided an exciting and educational opportunity to explore the diverse world of animals in meticulously crafted habitats. As we walked through the entrance, the vibrant sounds and sights of various animals welcomed us, offering a glimpse into their fascinating lives. The first stop was the African Savannah exhibit, where majestic lions lounged in the sun, their manes glistening in the light. Nearby, zebras and giraffes grazed on fresh leaves, showcasing their striking patterns and towering heights. The authenticity of their habitat and the informative plaques provided deeper insights into their lifestyles and the challenges they face in the wild. Next, we ventured into the Tropical Rainforest section. The dense greenery and misty air felt like stepping into another world. Colourful parrots squawked from above, while agile monkeys leaped between branches. It was mesmerising to watch the fluid movements of these creatures in an environment that closely mimicked their natural setting. One of the highlights of our visit was the penguin enclosure during feeding time. The zookeeper shared fascinating facts about their diet and conservation status while the penguins waddled around eagerly. This interaction not only entertained us but also educated us on the critical importance of conservation efforts for these endearing birds. Encircled by flapping wings of innumerable colours and patterns as we strolled through the butterfly garden to end our visit, the experience reinforced the vital role zoos play in conservation and education. By acting as links between people and the natural world, they promote a greater understanding of and dedication to preserving the biodiversity of our planet. This visit to the zoo was not merely a leisure activity but a profound reminder of the interconnectedness of all living beings and the shared responsibility we hold for their preservation.

Zoos offer excellent destinations for families on vacation since they are a nice, pleasant, safe, and peaceful experience for everybody. Children and adults can both visit zoos and observe the creatures of the world there. The zoo's administrators safeguard the security of both the animals and the visitors, providing the greatest care and nutrition for the animals' health. Animals like lions, gorillas, chimpanzees, zebras, Bengal tigers, and reptiles like pythons, crocodiles, lizards, turtles can all be seen in zoos.

200 Words Essay On A Visit To A Zoo

I went to the zoo with my family last Saturday. It was a wonderful day to visit the zoo as the sun was shining bright. When we arrived at the zoo, there was a big crowd forming in front of the gate. While some of them were purchasing entry tickets, others were chatting and taking in the sunshine. As we reached the zoological garden, we came by a lovely lake filled with ducks and white swans. We took a boat ride and fed the ducks some bread. It was lovely to see them float by our boat and eat the bread.

As we got further, we noticed an enclosure with fowls. Different-coloured sparrows, eagles, pigeons, and parrots were chirping. We were captivated by the birds' singing. We also observed tigers, tigresses, and leopards lounging and exploring in the next enclosed den area. It was my first time seeing wild animals and I was very excited. I was terrified but also fascinated by the sharp teeth and piercing stare of the tiger. After this, we proceeded to see a show put up by the elephants. It was an amazing sight to see regal elephants twirling their trunks in the air and throwing wooden logs around. Along with this, we also saw bears playing joyfully with one another and the sight warmed our hearts.

500 Words Essay On A Visit To A Zoo

Visiting a zoo can be a lot of fun and also teach us a lot about many animal species. We get to discover the habitats and routines of a huge variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and other creatures. Zoo is a place where we can get closer to the other animals, birds, reptiles, insects, and other living things that share our planet with us. It provides information on the harmony between various animal species and their surroundings. It shows that animal life is just as vital as human life. Zoos are usually large regions brimming with breathtaking scenery and provide the animals with a protected environment similar to that of a forest.

Zoos Are Educational

A visit to a zoo can be educational for children as they get an opportunity to recognise and learn about animals, birds, reptiles that they have only studied in textbooks. They also understand the importance of protecting wildlife, the natural habitat of animals and how many species are becoming endangered as the world keeps changing. A huge variety of creatures can be seen at the zoo with possible sightings of animals that are unique to forests, such as lions, tigers, white tigers, bears, etc.

Zoos Protect Animals

Zoos have improved animal care and safety as even government organisations now endeavour to provide timely care for animals with safety and regulatory examinations. Many species are already on the verge of extinction all around the world, and many more are in danger of doing so. Modern aquariums and zoos work to solve these issues. Their breeding programmes contribute to the conservation of genetic variety and the reintroduction of endangered species into the wild.

My Experience At The Zoo

In the zoo I visited, you could either take a toy train that moved slowly to all the animal cages, or you could walk along the paths next to the enclosures' animal inhabitants. I chose to take the train and it was such a unique experience. It took us to each animal's location and stopped for a sufficient amount of time so we could see inside. The zoo resembled a miniature forest where the jungle animals resided. I saw a magnificent tiger walking gracefully inside its enclosure. I was ecstatic to see a bear playing with a plank of wood that zoo staff had left there. There were also various parrot species, each with stunning wings and vivid colours. I spent about an hour in close proximity to them since they were so marvellous.

I also saw a lot of different birds of various colours and textures, they were beautiful to look at. The zoo administrator allowed me to feed some of them—it was a wonderful experience. I was a bit scared at first but once they settled down around me, I felt at ease. I even petted them lightly. Afterwards, I had lunch with my parents in a cafeteria at the zoo. The food was delicious and it was all named after different animals. I’m definitely looking forward to the next time I’ll visit here, hopefully with all my friends.

Essay on Zoo for Students and Children

500 words essay on zoo.

The world is a huge place to see. It consists of so many living organisms that it is impossible to see each and every one of them. Especially for human beings, who are fascinated very much by animals. For the same reasons, zoos were created so that humans can interact better with animals.

Essay on Zoo

In other words, a zoo is a facility that has animals, birds, and reptiles of all kinds. They are confined to space where they are given food and medical facilities. The government has given strict guidelines to maintain a zoo. This is done keeping in mind the animal’s safety. In addition, zoos are made breeding grounds for animals to protect their species.

Benefits of Zoo

Zoos were made to bring wildlife closer to humans. It gave humans a better and up-close view of them. This allows various researchers and scientists to note the behavioral pattern of the animals. It helps them in their studies and discover new things.

In addition, zoos are a great source of entertainment for kids. They love visiting zoos and interacting with animals. This helps them learn practical knowledge about the animal. It also gives them exposure to wildlife and widens their knowledge.

Furthermore, zoos give us easy access to rare animals. Had it not been for zoos, we would have never been able to see what some animals looked like. We enjoy their behavior and it also creates awareness about the extinction of the rare species.

Similarly, zoos are a safe breeding ground for animals. They ensure the animal breeds so they never go extinct. This helps in creating a good balance. Moreover, the zoos ensure the animals get all the nutrition in their bodies to lead a healthy life. This is beneficial as the animal may not get guaranteed meals in the forests.

Disadvantages of Zoo

While the zoo is a great place for entertainment, it is also very exploitive. It takes advantage of the poor animals to make a profit off them. The zoos keep animals in very bad conditions. It takes unethical methods just to create revenue.

Furthermore, zoos are very unfair to animals. They take the animals out of their natural habitats just for the sake of human entertainment. Why would the animals be put into cages as humans want them to? They are voiceless creatures who are being forced to live in poor conditions. Imagine putting humans into cages so animals could come to see them. It sounds inhumane the other way around but not when we do the same to animals.

Most importantly, zoos do not take proper care of exotic animals. They bring them over in their facility despite knowing that they cannot survive in that climate. Some zoos do not take enough precautionary measures to keep the animals safe. This has resulted in so many deaths of animals that it seems cruel.

In short, though zoos are very helpful to humans and animals to an extent. They must be monitored constantly to ensure the animals are safe. The unethical zoos must be shut down at once to prevent any further loss of animals.

Short Essay on A Visit To a Zoo 300 Words for Kids and Students in English

Looking at the white ducks on the smooth surface of the water is a charming sight. As we moved, we came to the enclosure in which flying birds (fowls) were kept. They ranged from sparrows, eagles and parrots to pigeons of various colours. The birds were chirping. It was enchanting music. We enjoyed it very much.

In the next enclosure, there were lions and leopards, tigers and tigresses whose roars were deafening. We approached the net. A lion rushed towards us and we were frightened. Their fierce looks were frightening. After seeing them, we came across a garden in which stags and deer were frisking about. These animals were very beautiful. In one of the corners of the garden, there was a huge tree on which monkeys and baboons were jumping. Their tricks and pranks were very pleasing.

A Visit To The Zoo Essay

Some people offered them food and they immediately came down to take it. Children, as well as adults who tried to tease the animals were severely reprimanded by others, “What if someone teased you like that?”

Our next halt was at an aquarium in which we were most interested. Also a large number of aquatic birds were kept there. There were fishes of many species and colours. To see them fidgeting in water was really a delightful spectacle. There were many other aquatic animals. Just by the side of this enclosure, we came across polar bears who looked sad and lonely.

It was the cage of the black bear that attracted a mammoth gathering. The bear was playing many tricks which thrilled the spectators. Some people offered him eatables which he gulped down at once.

The zoological park is so vast that it is very difficult to describe all the departments and enclosures. After taking one complete round of the zoo, we relaxed for some time in a cool and beautiful garden inside the zoo. The fragrance of the flowers was tremendously soothing. Then we had some snacks and drinks which refreshed us much.

Conclusion On A Visit To Zoo Essay in English

As the sun was setting, we came out of the zoo with the other visitors. We boarded the bus while casting one last and lingering look at the zoo that is surrounded on one side by the old but majestic walls of the old fort. This added to the beauty and grandeur of the zoo. I shall always remember my thrilling experience in the zoo.

Long Essay On A Visit To Zoo

If you’re planning a trip to one of your favorite zoos, there are a few things you’ll want to think about before you go. First, figure out what time of year you’d like to visit. Many zoos are open during the morning or evening hours, so it’s important to know which option works best with your schedule.

Next, make a list of the animals you want to see. Don’t forget to include the types of animals you’re interested in – there are plenty of different kinds at most zoos! – and their habitats. You may also want to consider visiting a zoo that specializes in particular animals or in exhibiting wildlife from certain regions of the world.

Finally, research which entrance fees apply at each zoo. Some have separate charges for adults and children, while others offer discounts for members of certain organizations or for visitors who arrive by bus or train. Take this information into account when making your decision about where to go!

Arrival at the Zoo

We arrived at the zoo and were greeted by a friendly tiger. The zoo was huge and there were so many animals to see! We walked around for a while and then went on an elephant ride. The ride was really fun, and we got to see a lot of the zoo from up high. After the elephant ride, we went on some smaller animal tours. We saw a monkey, a Sumatran tiger, and a gibbon. All of the animals were really cool, and we learned a lot about them in our tour. We also had lunch at the zoo cafe, where we got to eat some delicious food. Overall, it was an amazing experience!

Animal Encounters

Visiting a zoo can be an enjoyable experience for those who enjoy looking at animals up close. Many zoos have a variety of exhibits that allow visitors to see different types of animals from all over the world. Some zoos also offer educational programs that teach children about the animal kingdom.

Some people may find it surprising that some zoo animals are actually kept in captivity rather than living in their natural habitats. For example, some lions are kept in captivity so they can be exhibited to tourists. Zoo officials believe this type of tourism is important because it helps raise awareness about the plight of wild lions and other endangered species.

Zoo visitors should be aware that some animals may not be happy being around humans. For example, some elephants may get upset if they are touched or if they are prevented from moving around freely. Visitors should also be aware of their own emotions when visiting a zoo; if they become angry or frustrated, it may trigger an emotional response from the animal and make the visit more difficult.

The Exhibits

The zoo is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. The exhibits are well maintained and the animals look healthy. The zoo has a wide variety of animals, from primates to lions, making it a great place to learn about different types of animals.

One of my favorite exhibits was the elephant enclosure. I was amazed by how big they were and how gentle they were. I also loved the gorillas exhibit because they were so friendly and interactive. Overall, I had a great time at the zoo and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Miami!

Aftermath of Your Visit

After your visit to the zoo, you may feel both excited and overwhelmed. The sights and sounds of all the animals will have been a memorable experience for you and your family. However, it is important to remember to take care of the animals that you saw.

Zoos are often criticized for their treatment of animals, but they do provide a place where people can see many different types of animals in one place. It is important not to forget the sacrifices that zoos make in order to keep these animals safe and healthy.

In order to help visitors appreciate the zoo more, some zoos have started educating them about the animals. This can be done through exhibits or by holding talks with experts on different aspects of animal life.

A visit to the zoo is a delightful and educational experience for people of all ages. It offers a unique opportunity to observe and learn about a variety of animals from different habitats, cultures, and countries in one place. By visiting the zoo, visitors can gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural world, and the importance of protecting and conserving wildlife and their habitats.

Moreover, zoos play a crucial role in animal conservation and research, by breeding endangered species and providing veterinary care to sick and injured animals. They also provide opportunities for education and public awareness about conservation and animal welfare issues.

A visit to the zoo can be a fun and enriching experience for families and individuals alike. It is an opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse oneself in the beauty and wonder of the animal kingdom. Whether you are a nature lover, animal enthusiast, or simply seeking a fun and educational experience, a visit to the zoo is a must-visit destination.

My Visit to a Zoo

Winter vacations are always fun. Our family occasionally likes to explore recreational spots from time to time. Last year at the onset of winter, the weather was pleasant, and we had an opportunity to visit the famous Deli zoo. We packed some snacks, got the camera, and started our journey. Deli zoo covers a vast area and is located in our city centre. It is about 20 kilometres from our house. By the time we reached there, it was already 11 a.m.

My dad got the tickets from the booking counter, and we walked in through the huge entry gate. The pathway was filled with tall trees. Many eye-catching signboards were left around the corners. They led us towards the direction of the botanical garden. I was excited to see the colourful patches of different flowers. There were decorative shrubs that were carved into beautiful shapes.

Walking down the lane, we discovered a huge lake which contained swans and ducks. These water-birds were swimming and enjoying their time. It was a delight to watch them. Suddenly, I got distracted by the frequent chirping of birds. I turned around to find an entire section filled with sparrows, peacocks, pigeons, and parrots. Some of them were fluttering their wings.

Next, we went on a toy train covering a full round of the zoo. We could watch the tigers and leopards sleeping in their den. Some children started laughing at the site of a big bear waving its hand. We also saw elephants, deers, and monkeys. After enjoying the joy ride, we visited the aquarium. There were so many strange-looking aquatic creatures. I got amazed by the different kinds of fishes.

Essay on A Visit to the Zoo

Last weekend, my father wanted to take us out somewhere. So we decided to go to the zoo. My mother made some sandwiches and packed some fruits. Father took his camera along, and we all left for the zoo.

Outside, it was warm and sunny. After an hour’s drive, we reached the zoo. The place was crowded. There were vendors selling balloons, caps, eatables and lot of other things.

My father bought three tickets and we all walked into the zoo. Inside we boarded a small train which took us around the park. I was so excited that I kept jumping on my seat.

As the train moved slowly around the park, we saw a lion, a white tiger, hippopotamus, deer, giraffes, mongoose, bison, wolves and hyenas.

After the train ride, we sat in a restaurant and had our lunch. While walking around the zoo, I saw boards which warned us not to feed the animals. I could not understand the reason behind it. When I asked my father about it, he explained that our food might harm the animals. He also told me that the zoo authorities take care of the animals in best possible manner.

After lunch, we left for our home though I wanted to stay back and go for the train ride again.

It is a variety of birds, animals, and beasts who are kept in a zoo. Rare varieties, even those brought from foreign lands are kept there. In this way, the visitors can get a sight of even such animals and beasts which they could never have seen. The lion from Africa, the kangaroo from Australia, the zebra, the polar bear, the chimpanzee, the gorilla, the white tiger, the white peacocks; the parrots of different varieties, the giant crocodiles, the huge pythons the names are innumerable all in one zoo. Where can one find to see all these in one place except in a zoo?

Zoos are keeping intact and looking after such animals and beasts, whose species are being threatened. There are about one thousand species of birds, animals, and beasts which are gradually becoming extinct nonexistent. There are various reasons for this. But even these rare varieties are still being kept and looked after in these zoos.

Essay on a Visit to a Zoo

Zoos and their maintenance show that man has a love for animals, beasts, and birds. They are also a part of nature and man cannot ignore them, rather they give people an idea of how much variety is there in nature. Visiting a zoo brings men closer to nature, makes men develop a liking for animals, birds, and beasts. They have geographical importance as well as the visitors by watching the species brought from different lands can get an idea of how and where these animals and beasts live what is the climate and the natural habitat in which they grow.

The maintenance of a zoo is a big exercise. Animals or beasts brought from the country of a particular climate have to be kept in the climate and temperature and surroundings that suit their original habitat. If all that arrangement is not made these animals, beasts and birds cannot survive. A chimpanzee or a gorilla should have tall trees for them to jump around, the lions or tigers should have a pool of water to cool themselves in during hot summers. Then all these animals and beasts and birds and reptiles must be served with the food of their taste and their appetite. A lion or a tiger or a leopard should have the due quantity of raw meat; a monkey or a gorilla is a vegetarian and should be fed on that diet. There are animals which should be fed on fishes; the python should have food that it needs it can devour a whole goat.

So visiting a zoo gives the visitor not only fun but also knowledge about so many habits and taste of so many varieties of animals, beasts and birds.

Below we have given a short essay on A Visit To a Zoo is for Classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. This short essay on the topic is suitable for students of class 6 and below.

A zoo has to maintain its own medical staff to the veterinary doctor who should be duly qualified and competent. Even, sometimes, surgical operations have to be performed on the animals and beasts.

The visitors, sometimes, cause a great risk to the lives of animals. They throw some eatables in plastic bags and the animals eat them along with the bag, which bag does, not get dissolved, rather gets stuck in their intestines causing even their death sometimes. The visitors to the zoos, particularly the children should be duly warned not to feed these animals in this manner otherwise what would be fun for them can become the cause of death for a rare variety of the zoo-inmate.

In this way zoos are a place to teach, to learn, to enjoy they are the places which bring men in the company of their fellows on this earth the animals, beasts, birds and so many other creatures. It tells us more and still more about God’s creation on this earth. Jesus Christ had said, “Love thy neighbor as thy own self” to which Mahatma Gandhi added “Every living being is the neighbor” “Love all, that is what a zoo teaches”.

Essay on Zoo

A Zoo is an artificial home to various types of animals, birds, and reptiles. It is a big area safeguarded by wire, trenches and other hindrances so that animals cannot run away or causes any kind of harm to the visitors. There are usually different sections for different types of animals in the zoo.

If any student is looking for a sample essay on the zoo, then they can take a look into the essay given in the following. The essay is written as per the usual structure. By referring to the essay, it will be easy to write on your own. Those who are using the Vedantu app can take a glance through the essay from the app itself. All these study materials are available for absolutely free of cost.

First of all, let's find the origin of the zoo. The word ‘zoo’ is actually a short form of ‘Zoological Park’. The first zoo was menageries, which is a private collection done by the wealthy to show their power. A zoo is a place where many different species of animals are kept so senders can enjoy them. Spreading knowledge about biological diversity in the world is the main motto of the creation of the zoo. Modern zoos are not only for the entertainment of people but also for the education, research and conservation of animals. ‘Arignar anna zoological park’ is the largest zoo in India located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This park is spread over 602 hectares which is almost 6 sq.km. A large number of crocodile, Lions and especially endangered species of Bengal Tiger is preserved in this zoo.

Captive breeding makes the zoos a valuable place for animal survival. The re-introduction of the animal species in the jungle is the basic aim behind many captive breeding programs at zoos. Many zoos are the centres where the rare animals are rescued when they are in danger of dying. Moreover, Zoos are categorized into several categories depending on a variety of factors. In which Urban and Suburban zoos are the leading one. As the name itself suggests, urban zoos are those zoos which are located in large cities. Often, these are found in the centre of the city. The animals are kept in less enclosure in most of these zoos. Due to noise, pollution and cramped conditions keeping animals in urban settings is not advisable by the zoologist. On the second hand, Suburban zoos are located in suburban areas and give more territory to roam and provide more natural habitat.

The next one is Safari zoos. They are larger than urban and suburban zoos. Safari zoos are more attractive as they allow the vehicle to drive in the zoo to see the wildlife in the enclosed areas. Some zoos which are dedicated to certain species of animals are special zoos. The aquarium is a good example of it. Aquariums are the exclusive house for the aquatic animals. The Association of Zoos stated,“ Zoos and Aquariums are the best place for your family to get connected with nature.”

Zoos have put more significance on conservation and sufficient animal treatment in recent decades. Zoos are always focused on the preservation of nature. The initial and maintenance cost for developing the zoos is a little bit high. So, they cost a little amount of money from the audience. A day spent in the zoos has uncountable benefits to one's life. In young children, zoos create a love for animal parties. Research students focused very closely on each activity the particular animal is doing. Critics still have many points for arguments about zoos. Critics of the closed breeding programme said that ‘realizing some animal into the wild reduces the number of species. Wildlife is a natural resource. Due to a declining population, a large number of animals have become extinct in the wild.’

Short Essay – 250 Words

Introduction

A zoo is a place that provides us an opportunity of observing different types of animals, birds, and fishes at one place. These animals, birds, and fishes are kept at different places in their own habitats in a zoo. The zoo is the best place that we can visit during our holidays with our family and friends. The visit to a zoo will surely make us feel good and help in refreshing our mood.

Provides great joy and a chance of meeting the Wildlife

A visit to a zoo is a beautiful experience in life. It provides us great joy to see and spend time with the animals. The zoo is a good educational place for the children. They love to see those animals in reality about whom they have only read in their books. After seeing those in reality children can easily recognize them. Zoos also provide us knowledge about different animals and their habitat. It helps us in understanding the role of animals in nature and the importance of conserving them. In a zoo, we are able to see the variety of wild animals that belong to wildlife. These animals can only be spotted in the forests and the zoo gives us an opportunity to meet these animals at one place.

Zoo – Connects Human Beings with Nature

We can watch and interact with different kinds of animals and their activities live in a zoo. In a zoo, we can feel that we are very close to nature. It is because of the presence of the animals that form an important part of nature. The environment of the zoo is very natural that makes us feel as if we are in a forest. Thus it can be stated that zoo helps in connecting human beings with nature.

I love visiting and spending my time in a zoo. It is very lovely and interesting to watch the animals doing different activities.

Long Essay on My Experience of Visiting the Zoo

Many of us love animals. The choices of animals we love are different for every individual. There are many animals that we have seen only in movies and on television. There is an immense curiosity to see these animals in front of our eyes. Children are more curious to see different animals. The plan to visit a zoo would be the most interesting place for children.

What is a Zoo?

A zoo is a place that is well protected and is open for public visits. It consists of different types of animals residing there separately in cages on areas enclosed by steel wires. These animals live there and also breed to give birth to their young ones. This helps in increasing the number of species of that animal. They are places enriched with great natural beauty. Animals living here are living in a protected condition. It covers an area of a larger distance that encloses the small-small habitat of the animals in the zoo. It is ensured that the same conditions as of forest will be provided to the animals in the zoo.

The habitat destruction of animals by increasing the human population is the major cause of the depletion of the forests. The loss of the habitat of the animals makes them devoid of shelter as well as food. This is the reason for the extinction of different animal species in the world. A zoo is a large area in the forests that is issued by the government as the protected habitat of animals and birds. It serves for the protection of the animals and saving them from being extinct.

The children are most fascinated with animals. They love visiting the place like a zoo. It is an outing or picnic spot for the people.

The Zoological Parks in India

There are 72 zoo located in different cities of Indian states. They are meant for the protection of wild animals from becoming endangered or extinct species. Animals and birds are well maintained in this enclosed habitat. These zoological parks open for a definite time for the visitors. It is a good place for enjoyment as well as learning. We get to know about different wildlife animals and can see them in real.

My Experience of Visiting the Zoo

I am a nature-loving person. I think nature is incomplete without the presence of different types of animals and birds. They add beauty and liveliness to beautiful nature. I got the chance of visiting the Lucknow zoo as a part of the school trip. It is called Nawab Wazid Ali Shah Prani Udyan. I was very excited about this trip as it was going to be my first visit to a zoo. We arrived the next day at school and were ready to travel by bus with our teachers and classmates to Lucknow for our visit to the zoo. The travel was very exciting but my curiosity was at its highest level till we reached the zoo. Earlier I had seen a zoo only on television or in books. It was a very good part that we visited the zoo in winters because they move around in winters for getting the warmth of the sun. During summers the animals are not seen very active outside.

We reached there safely and were standing in a queue for getting entry in the zoo. My teachers had made the online booking of tickets. We were permitted to enter inside one by one.

Entry Point of the Zoo – The entry point has a sculpture of a giant tree with no leaves on its branches. The tree has different animals on it like monkey, peacock, bear, different birds, etc. A statue of a Lion has been built sitting in the front of the sculpture of the tree. There are also statues of Rhinoceros, zebra, and giraffe in the periphery area of the tree. This totally gives us a small representation of the inner view of the zoo. We had clicked many pictures near this entry point.

Inside View of the Zoo – The whole way directing to the inner premises of the zoo is adorned with the statues of different animals like dear, lion, bear, tiger, etc. The habitat of black dear was situated at first and it was full of many black dears roaming here and there. The information about the animal is totally provided on the board displayed outside the protected area of the particular animal. The habitat of the chimpanzee was a very interesting spot.

We saw two chimpanzees sitting and taking the warmth of the sun. The chimpanzee was making different types of faces and postures that made us laugh. They are very intelligent and were sitting in a very good pose. We stayed there for a little longer time and enjoyed the tricks of chimpanzees. Next, we saw ostriches. They were really very tall as we had seen them in the books.

There was a lane in the zoo that was had different types of birds. I was fascinated after seeing such a good collection of birds in the zoo. They were of different colors and breeds. We saw lions and tigers too. The Lion was roaring and giving a very ferocious look. Tigers were also roaming in their enclosures. They were three in numbers and we could not distinguish between males and females. We also saw three Himalayan Black bears in the zoo resting in their habitat. The white tiger looked very magnificent.

Apart from these, there is a toy train and parks with various swings meant for the children. We were in the zoo for four hours. We visited the entire zoo and were able to observe the animals closely.

Is Zoo the Place for Recreation and Learning?

The zoo is a very interesting place to be visited. We can see different types of animals in the zoo. We can also see animals that cannot be spotted anywhere other than forests like Lion, Tigers, White Tiger, Bears, etc. We can observe the behavior of the different animals very closely.

We also come to know about different new animals in the zoo that are unknown to us. After visiting a zoo we feel like spending more and more time watching the different activities of the animals in the zoo. In my opinion, the zoo is one of the best places for recreation and enjoyment with our family and friends. It also gives us information about the different species of animals and birds.

I was very happy after visiting the zoo in Lucknow. We had a great time that we spent inside the zoo. I feel like visiting the zoo again and again in my life. We must observe the animals very silently in the zoo without causing any kind of disturbance to them.

Ulli helped raise Mzuri. Years later, the gorilla recognised her on a zoo visit

When baby Mzuri’s mother Yuska didn’t bond with her newborn, Ulli Weiher stepped in.

It was 40 years ago and Mzuri – the first gorilla to be born from artificial insemination and Melbourne Zoo’s pride and joy – became a superstar, winning hearts across Australia.

Weiher, the zoo’s primate keeper who was seen holding him in many of those early photographs, became a celebrity in her own right.

Marking 50 years in the role, Weiher – who is regarded as zoo royalty – said the spotlight was uncomfortable in those days.

“I used to hate working with the media because it took me away from the animals,” she said.

“But as I matured, I learned that you can use it to your advantage, by telling the public about the plight of animal species, and what’s needed for conservation.”

In a career of highlights, she cherishes the births of six gorillas and seven orangutans, including the rare twins – Bono and Suma – in 1978.

Weiher, a German migrant, said Melbourne Zoo was very different place five decades ago. Many animals were caged. Lions, polar bears and apes had concreted or sparsely grassed enclosures with moats.

Gorillas came to the zoo in 1974 and if a politician wanted a photo taken holding a baby, they got one.

Today, the enclosure for the three gorillas is 10 times the size of the original. It’s greener and the animals are left to their own social groups, with little human contact.

Weiher said she grieved when animals died or were moved to a new zoo for breeding, but she learned to steel herself.

Mzuri himself went to a British zoo when he was nine years old.

“I was really happy that we’d found a home for him,” she said.

When on trips to visit her parents in Europe, Weiher would visit Mzuri at Jersey Zoo. On one such visit, she was watching him from the crowd.

Mzuri was the first gorilla to be born from artificial insemination.

“I took my sunglasses off, and he realised who it was, and jumped up and carried on like crazy,” she said.

Mzuri died in a French zoo in 2017, at the age of 32.

Melbourne Zoo senior manager of animal care and conservation Justine Felix said Weiher’s work – especially with the birth of Mzuri – inspired her to pursue a zookeeping career herself.

“Ulli Weiher is truly royalty at Melbourne Zoo, a legendary figure whose five decades of service leaves an indelible mark on the institution,” Felix said.

“Her unparalleled expertise, particularly in primate care, and her deep commitment to the animals have earned her the admiration and respect of colleagues and visitors alike.”

Weiher said that while she had a dream to travel around Australia, she was not planning retirement yet. “I love this place. My use-by date hasn’t come around,” she said.

“I really, thoroughly enjoy coming to the zoo, working with the animals, educating the public, doing what I can for conservation.

“It’s an exciting job and every day is different.”

Remarkable moment Dublin Zoo elephant instantly recognised his old keeper

essay visit zoo

They say an elephant never forgets; and a famous Dublin Zoo bull elephant instantly recognised a keeper in France – more than four years after they last met.

‘His eyes opened wide, his ears came forward and he put his trunk up towards me,’ said Gerry Creighton, former elephant keeper and operations manager at Dublin Zoo.

Today's top videos

Story continues below.

Over four years after their last meeting, Upali, a five-tonne bull elephant immediately recognised the Dubliner and elephant authority, who became a household name in Ireland from his appearances on the RTÉ series The Zoo.

essay visit zoo

According to Mr Creighton – author of Raised By The Zoo: My Life with Elephants and other Animals – Upali was sucking in air around him with his trunk because he recognised his smell. Since their last meeting, the 54-year-old has become an elephant consultant to zoos and safari parks around the world.

Upali had travelled to Dompierre Le Pal Zoo in France in 2019 to help breed the endangered species. In the wild, bull elephants move between different herds so the move mimicked natural behaviour.

But when the bull got out of sorts at the start of this summer, the French keepers called Mr Creighton, who championed positive reinforcement training.

Elephant consultant and former Dublin Zoo keeper Gerry Creighton gives his old friend Upali a pedicure in France and, inset, his book.

Mr Creighton said: ‘They said, “he’s in must, he’s a little bit moody and he won’t really let us wash his feet.” Must is a condition where they have heightened testosterone levels.’

When Mr Creighton walked into the enclosure, he said it was like the reunion of ‘two old friends’.

He added: ‘I went over to him and said “good boy” and started talking to him. I opened the foot port and I asked him to lift his foot up and he lifted his foot up. I gave him a banana for it, and he allowed me to work away on his feet for the next two or three days and pedicure his nails.’

‘The keepers were amazed. They said, “look, he recognised you” and he started making this really contented rumbling sound.

‘It was instant recognition. One of the keepers got very emotional. I hadn’t seen him in more than four years. So there you go. It’s really a true saying that an elephant never forgets.’

‘It was wonderful to see the co-operation exists because he had such positive memories from his time working with me at Dublin Zoo and the team there.’

During his seven-year stay in Dublin, the bull elephant, who is now around 23 years old, fathered nine babies.

Mr Creighton added: ‘The environment was so good and Upali had such a beautiful nature and the young male calves used to gravitate towards him and wanted to have sleepovers with him. He was a great role model.

‘And now the Dublin Zoo bulls have gone as far as Denver Zoo. A couple have gone to Australia. So, the genetics and the influence of the Dublin Zoo programme has resonated throughout the world with these wonderful social bulls that are confident.’

‘They’ve seen elephant births, they’ve seen females in oestrus and this is the information that they need to be successful bulls for the future.’

The consultant is now working on a pioneering project to place 13 elephants – from Howletts Wild Animal Park in Littlebourne in England – into the wild in Africa.

He said: ‘We’re getting them used to going into the travel crates and being separated for a journey. Eventually, these 13 elephants will be the first elephants ever to leave a zoo safari situation and be returned to the wild. It’s a rewilding project.’

‘His eyes opened wide, his ears came forward and he put his trunk up towards me,’ said Gerry Creighton, former elephant keeper and operations manager at Dublin Zoo.

‘To think one day these 13 elephants will roam free again in Africa is breathtaking.’

‘They won’t be just be dropped into Africa. They will go into a 50-acre reserve, and get used to the climate, food, and many different things. But it’s really exciting to be involved in a project of the very first elephants to be returned to the wild and to reverse the fortunes of these elephants and put them into a protected part of Africa where they can live freely and wild.’

‘It’s very inspiring and it is very moving,’ Mr Creighton said. The hugely successful breeding programme in Dublin Zoo over the past 20 years or so brought the zoo’s methods to the attention of other zoos and safaris globally.

At the start of the noughties, Dublin Zoo was still operating an old-school system in a 1950s house with a concrete floor.

However, when the zoo replaced human contact and bull hooks with the sandy Kaziranga Forest Trail, which simulates the wild, the effect on fertility was almost immediate.

The zoo’s methods of changing the elephant’s habitat with diggers to simulate the wild produced a contented herd with one of the largest groups of calves born so close together in human care.

essay visit zoo

Mr Creighton said of the changes: ‘You bring kindness to their life. In 2006 in Dublin Zoo, we decided we would no longer go in with elephants and we would create an environment that allowed them to be dynamic and live like they should.

‘We had nine elephants born over a decade, all born within the herd and all natural births – mothers and daughters and aunts and all the animals around supporting the birth,’ he explained.

‘Then the world started to notice, and I was managing the programme, and other zoos asked if I could come over and share the knowledge.’

The Imperial Supreme Court

The facade of the Supreme Court building.

By Kate Shaw

Contributing Opinion Writer

The court’s decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, which overruled the 40-year-old Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, won’t affect Americans’ lives in as stark and immediate a way as the 2022 decision overruling Roe v. Wade.

But like Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Loper Bright has the potential to fundamentally transform major aspects of the health, safety and well-being of most Americans. That’s especially true when it is viewed alongside some of the other major cases about agency power the court has handed down in recent terms — and indeed in recent days — that have stripped agencies of power and shifted that power directly to federal courts.

Just this week, the court eliminated a key mechanism used by the Securities and Exchange Commission to enforce securities laws and enjoined an important Environmental Protection Agency emissions standard based on, in the words of Justice Amy Coney Barrett in dissent, an “underdeveloped theory that is unlikely to succeed on the merits.”

Out of the 1984 Chevron decision came the doctrine of Chevron deference. In essence, Chevron deference allowed agencies to use their expertise to determine how to carry out laws passed by Congress — laws intended to keep our air and water clean, our drugs safe and effective and our securities markets protected from fraud and deception.

The Supreme Court has now decreed that it, rather than agencies staffed by individuals with deep subject matter expertise and answerable to presidential appointees, will be the final arbiter of the meaning of every statute passed by Congress.

What does it mean to require agencies to take the “best” or “appropriate” or “feasible” steps to reduce air and water pollution or to keep workplaces safe? While Chevron directed courts to defer to agencies when they brought their expertise to bear on such questions and produced reasonable answers, the court will now decide for itself.
