Procedure for Correction in the Admission Records through e-services only

• website in learners corner.
• receiving E-mail for confirmation of admission
• receiving the online I-card.
• Correction in the admission records will be considered prior to appearing in the first examination or within 3 years of learners from the date of registration for admission upon uploading of supporting documents. However, it is desired that correction, if any, may be requested in such a manner that the same may be done before the issue of Admit Card for appearing in examination so that Pass documents are issued with correct details.
• No request for correction will be accepted after 3 years from the date of registration.
• Applicable fee for above corrections, in addition to fee for revised document as per NIOS norms, will be charged online.
• 'Latest correction rules' will be applicable at the time of making request for correction in the record.
• Please note that the revised corrected documents will be issued only after you have submittted the Origional Documents (Marksheet, Mirgration Certificate or Provisional Certificate or Final Certificate) with incorrect details issued to you by NIOS and requisite fee.

Under the Open and Distance Learning System, learner support is of paramount importance. The student Support Services (SSS) Department is responsible for providing support to learners in their learning and related issues. The main functions of the Student Support Services (SSS) Department of NIOS are as follows:

• Formulation of policy and planning related to student enrollment and registration
• Advocacy and publicity of NIOS programmes
• Identification and establishment of study centres for accreditation from amongst recognized and reputed academic institutions all over the country, thereby building a network of Accredited Institutions (AIs), Accredited Vocational Institutions (AVIs) and Accredited Agencies (AAs)
• Enrolment and registration of secondary and senior secondary learners of NIOS
• Monitoring of the functioning of study centres and conduct of Personal Contact Programmes
• Development of policy for continuous assessment of the learners through Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA)
• Coordination with the Regional Centres for timely and effective support to the learners.

Under the Open and Distance Learning System, learner support is of paramount importance. Such support is provided through various services to:

• Facilitate learners in solving their problems through the study centres/learning centres
• Co-ordinate and monitor establishment, working and management of the study centres.

The main functions of the Student Support Services (SSS) Department of NIOS are as follows:

• Identification and establishment of study centres for accreditation from amongst recognized and reputed academic institutions all over the country, thereby building a network of Accredited Institutions (AIs)
• Monitoring of the functioning of study centres and conduct of personal contact programmes

NIOS as an open and distance learning institute provides planned human support in different ways from the time a learner joins the system till the end of his/ her successful completion. To provide this support along with the issue of easy access, NIOS considered utilization of existing available resources to provideservices by accrediting institutions as partners. Such partner institutions are called Accredited Institutions (AIs) and are spread all over the country. These AIs which function as Study Centres are usually formal schools that are recognized and affiliated to CBSE, ICSCE and State Broads or reputed agencies involved in social and educational activities of disadvantaged and differently abled learners. The AIs assist NIOS in its various functions to reach out and to reach all. Based on available infrastructure facilities and nature of the existing institutions, the AIs for Academic courses are categorized into three categories.

• Category-A: having very good infrastructure and can enroll upto 500 students.
• Category-B: AIs can enroll upto 300 students.
• Category-C: AIs are allowed toenroll only upto 150 students.

NIOS has Accredited Institutions for Regional mediums also like Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Oriya and Urdu. The types of Schools/Institutions that have become partners to function as AIs of NIOS include Government Schools, Government Aided Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Public and Private Schools and Schools for children with special needs.

Accreditation of the Study Centres is done through rigorous process of screening of applications on the basis of prescribed criteria and inspection of the institutions by teams of Experts. The Principal/Vice- Principal of the School acts as the Coordinator of the AI functioning as the Study Centre of NIOS. The core staff and teachers of the AIs work for NIOS programmes at the Study Centres in addition to their normal duties there.

NIOS students study at their own using self instructional material. However, while learning they do confront certain problems and need various types of help and guidance. For clarification of their doubts, NIOS conducts 30 Personal Contact Programme (PCPs) for theory subjects out of which 15 are compulsory. Five additional PCPs are allotted for subjects having practicals. These are conducted at the Study Centre on Saturdays, Sundays/other holidays or at any convenient time during weekdays.

Jail Inmates - (Oct. 2019)

No Barriers in Education of Jail Inmates

Apart from affiliated schools, NIOS is presently having Study Centres (AAs, AIs, & AVIs ) in Jails of India also. It was observed that more number of jail inmates wanted to join NIOS courses but because of their poor financial condition, they were unable to do so. Accordingly, it was felt that if NIOS could offer the courses to jail inmates free of cost, it would enable them join NIOS courses for getting themselves educated. Also, if they are provided quality education during their stay in jails, it would certainly help them in earning their livelihood and bringing them into the mainstream of society after they are released from jails.

Eligibility Criteria

Date of admission (academic year 2023-24), fee structure for online admission of stream-1.

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will not entertain any online Chargeback.

There will be two options for the payment of fee, supporting documents required.

The learner has to be ready with the Scanned copy/soft copy (jpg, jpeg files) of the given below documents which will be required to be uploaded while registering for the Admission to Secondary and Senior Secondary courses

Passport/Statement of Operational Bank Account/Appointment Letter from the Employer on Printed Letter Head, if living in rented accommodation - copy of any proof of permanent address along with present Rented Agreement

updated in NIOS result. If TOC Board marked with (*Other) is selected then the Result should be available on the Concerned Board Website or Learner has to submit result verification letter from Concerned Board as per NIOS norms

Transfer of Credit (TOC)

Ex-Secondary/Senior Secondary learners of the following Boards of School Education who have passed in at least one subject, but have not qualified in the course, may seek admission in the respective course at NIOS and avail facility of TOC.

A learner should seek Transfer of Credits (TOC) at the time of admission in the subjects which are included in NIOS scheme of studies.

The learners who had applied for Transfer of Credit (TOC) have to send original failed marksheet mentioning the Reference Number on the back of Mark Sheet to the concerned Regional Centre.

Dual Enrollment and Part Admission

Under this provision, if in case a learner is studying in a regular school, or has already passed Secondary/ Senior Secondary examination or any other higher course from any recognised Board/University, he/she may opt for upto four subjects of his/her choice, to update knowledge and educational qualifications. However, on passing, only the Marksheet will be issued and no other Certificate will be issued. The entry requirement for dual enrolment and part admission will be as per NIOS admission rules (Table-3 Entry Requirements).

• 1 After successful submission of Online Application Form for Admission to Stream 1 Block 1, you will get a confirmation on your email address and Mobile Number submitted during registration process.
• 2 You can make the Payment during the registration process or you can also make the payment later by login into Student Panel using the user name and password sent to you in your email.
• 3 After successful payment of the Admission fee, you will be communicated through email with payment receipt. You can also print/download your payment receipt and your Application Form from your dashboard after login.

You are registering for On Demand

On-line admission for learners who want to appear under the on demand examination system (odes) of nios for secondary level (stream-3)or sr. secondary level (stream-4).

Stream for On-line admission is open throughout the year for those learners who have already passed the Secondary Examination from the recognised Board and wish to take part admission in one subject or up to 4 subjects for updating their qualification, or learners who had appeared but could not clear, or who were eligible but could not appear in the Public Examination of the Secondary level from any recognised Board and want to appear through On Demand Examination System of NIOS for the Secondary level only and entry requirement of age, address proof as per table 3. The learners may upload the failed marksheet/Admit Card (Hall Ticket) alongwith relevant/supporting document and photograph on appropriate space available in the Online Admission Form for confirmation of the admission. The learners who had applied for Transfer of Credit (TOC) have to send original failed marksheet mentioning the Reference Number on the back of Mark Sheet to Online Cell, NIOS, Room No. 408, A-24-25, Institutional Area, Sector-62, NOIDA-201309, Uttar Pradesh. The Subjects available for appearing through ODES at Secondary level are Hindi (201), English (202), Sanskrit (209), Mathematics (211), Science & Technology (212), Social Science (213), Economics (214), Business Studies (215), Home Science (216), Psychology (222), Indian Culture & Heritage (223), Painting (225) and Data Entry Operations (229).
