How to apply for IPPE

Admission step-by-step
- Carefully read through the programme-specific admission criteria in studyinfo.fi and these instructions on how to apply to IPPE.
- Fill in the application form during the application period at Studyinfo.fi. Upload the required enclosures as instructed.
- Please make sure that you have received an automatic reply after you have submitted your application. Through the link in the email, you can access your application to make changes or upload new documents during the application period. The link only works once, and you will receive a new automatic reply and link after you submit your application again.
- If you have completed your previous degree/s outside Finland, you must submit officially certified copies of your educational documents to the Admissions Office , as instructed below.
- Please check your email regularly as the faculty or the admissions office may contact you regarding your application (please also check your junk mail). The invitations for the second stage of application process, the video interviews, will be send by email. The results of the admission will be announced by email as well.
- If you are offered a study place, remember to accept your study place through a link in an email message (sent from Studyinfo.fi), or if you have Finnish electronic banking credentials, please go to My Studyinfo to accept your study place.
- Enrol as a doctoral student as instructed, latest when you arrive in Finland.
- Familiarise yourself with instructions for a new doctoral student .

Online application form and required application documents

Master’s and Bachelor's degree certificates in the original language
Transcript of records of the master’s and bachelor's degrees in the original language, translations, official certification or legalisation attestation of degrees completed outside finland.
In addition to uploading pdf copies of your educational documents to your application, all educational documents from institutions outside Finland must be delivered as either officially certified by the awarding institution or as officially certified (attested) or legalised copies. It is also possible to visit our Admissions Office by appointment to deliver the documents or alternatively to show the original educational documents.
If delivered on paper (not electronic), documents of degrees awarded in certain countries must be submitted according to the country-specific requirements . Educational documents from China must always be submitted according to the country-specific requirements .
We do not accept regular photocopies of educational documents sent by post. When submitting documents by post, please note that officially certified copies issued by notaries public in other countries are not accepted without legalisation . However, officially certified copies issued by a Finnish Notary Public are accepted (even if the degree has been completed in a country with country-specific requirements).
If you have completed or are completing your degree at one of the Finnish Universities or Universities of Applied Sciences, you do not need to submit additional certified copies of your educational documents, as Tampere University will verify electronically using a national database the pdf copies of your educational documents uploaded on your application. documents.
Please send your educational documents to Tampere University Admissions Office . Please make sure that the officially certified copies of your educational documents arrive at Tampere University by 3 January 2025 at 15.00 Finnish time (UTC+2).

Please note to post your documents well before the deadline. This is also the case if you do not deliver the documents yourself. We recommend using a courier service instead of regular post especially if sending documents outside the EU, and to ensure that the delivery clears customs easily, please only enclose the paper documents in the delivery envelope. If possible, please indicate the value of the delivery as 0,01.

The International Doctoral Programme in Epidemiology and Public Health (IPPE) at the Unit of Health Sciences , Faculty of Social Sciences, Tampere University, is a doctoral training and research programme for epidemiologists, researchers and public health personnel worldwide who are interested in a PhD degree in epidemiology or related public health sciences.
The main objectives of the international doctoral programme are to increase knowledge and understanding of major public health problems, particularly in low and middle income countries, and to build sustainable public health capacity by training epidemiologists and public health personnel for leadership positions in research, administration, programme planning and policy development, in collaboration with global partners.
