India was colonized for over 200 years and the people of India demanded complete Independence. the proposed date for independence was 26th January 1930. On, July 18, 1947, the law was passed, stating that India would become an independent country on 15th Aug 1947 .

Independence Day means the day when the country became independent. It is a matter of pride for every Indian because India became independent on 15 August 1947 and according to the report behind this freedom, about 25 lakh Indians had sacrificed, then India came to be called an independent country.

Independence Day i.e. 15th August is a holiday in all government offices and also programs are organized in schools and schools in which patriotic songs and performances are also performed and a chief guest is called and addressed to the students.

The auspicious day of Independence Day is the most important day in the political history of India. Is Today, the iron chain of our enslavement was broken. The dawn of independence was seen today. Independence Day is an important day for other reasons as well. On this day Pondicherry Saint Maharishi Aurobindo birthday is also there. It is the death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's guru Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa. This festival is also celebrated at the government level in all the provinces of India. Morning walks go out. The Chief Minister takes the salute of the police-guard. The national flag is hosted at the state secretariats, fireworks are released and banquets are served to the dignitaries.

In the evening, government buildings (especially the Red Fort) are illuminated. Fireworks are released. The Prime Minister invites prominent citizens of Delhi, leaders of all political parties, professors of different religions and foreign ambassadors and diplomats to the official banquet. Thus this day passes with joy.

Independence Day is a day of remembrance of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the nation. On this day "Shaheed Jyoti", built as a symbol of the pyre of the martyrs, is greeted. Respect is shown to the martyrs by paying homage to the tomb of the martyr Mahatma Gandhi, who provided leadership to the nation from the post-transcendence period. The fifteenth of August comes every year and the feeling of 'we are free and will be free', is awakened and goes away. The day is celebrated with great pomp and show in Delhi. In schools, colleges and other educational institutions, the national flag is unfurled by the Principal. The National flag is also unfurled at all district head quarters by district collectors or political leaders who read out the state governor's message. The Independence Day is a day of remembrance. This day reminds us the sacrifice of patriots who lost their lives for the freedom of the country. We should swear to serve our country with devotion.

Let us salute the national flag, reiterate our national resolve and Pledge to surrender again for the pride of the nation and the welfare of the Indian people.

The first commemoration happened in 1777, and Massachusetts was the first state to recognize the date in 1781. The US government doesn’t mandate national holidays, but Independence Day was set as a legal public holiday in 1870, and it became a paid holiday for federal employees in 1938.

How do people celebrate Independence Day ?

Today, Independence Day is celebrated with all things red, white, and blue. Cities big and small put on fireworks shows for people who lay out on picnic blankets or pull up chairs. New York City, Boston, and Chicago have especially notable fireworks shows that are both extravagant and long. Parades are big events on the Fourth of July as well, with people in cities across New England and elsewhere marching down main street. Washington DC combines the best of both with a large parade on Constitution Avenue and a fireworks show on the National Mall.

Food is big on Independence Day, too. People bring their picnic gear and barbecues out during the day for classic cookout food like hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and ripe watermelon. Less casual eating occurs as well—the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is held in Coney Island every year as spectators watch in person and on TV.
