Information

Hello everyone! Since we do not have a lesson this Friday, and due to the literary talks taking up the entire lesson yesterday, I inform you what to do next here.

There's a text in the workbook that I want you to start working with. The text is called “Next stop Alabama” and is on pages 36-38. To this text there are several exercises on

p. 214-215:  063, 065, 066, 067, 068, 069, 070, 071.

Under Material -> Week 39 you find the short story "I K now W hy the C aged B ird S ings" written by the author Maya Angelou, To this stort story there are some questions for you to answer. Read the short story and answer the questions and hand in your work by Friday 27/9 the latest.

The short story takes place in Arkensas, a southern state i the USA,  Even though slavery was abolished after the the American Civil War ended in 1865, people of color were still not treated equal and racism was widespread. This, as you may know, still is problem today in the US. The present day America is  best understood with a look in the rear view mirror. Before you read the short story I recommend you watching the film I have linked below, as it will make the understanding of the setting and events easier to understand.

Jim Crow Laws and the Segregated South - YouTube

A student in the group brought to my attention that the wrong date was written for the group discussion on "Harrison Bergeron". The correct date is Wednesday 18/9 (TOMORROW) and nothing else! See you at 8.00 tomorrow in classroom 307.

You are to read a novel (not a short-story, or a collection of short stories!) and write four different assignments as you read. The assignment is named Home assignment English 6 Reading log .  You find this under More - Material - Week 35 below the examples and explanations to argumentative essay. Get started as soon as possible. Your work is to be handed in to me October 16 the latest.

Hi and welcome to the course English 6. We start up the course on Wednesday 14/8 at 8 o'clock in classroom 307. Please bring a pencil, a notebook, and the textbook Solid Gold 2 to class.

That said, I really hope to meet all new students on Friday 9/8 at 8.30 on our introduction day!

If you still haven't bought the textbook Solid Gold 2 you need to do it ASAP. It can be ordered from bookstores online such as Adlibris or Bokus. There's also a slight chance you can find a used copy on places like Blocket or Marketplace, or maybe from someone you know who has studied the course earlier. Note: ISBN: 978-91-44-10780-6. I highly recommend you buying a physical copy of the book, not only the e-book. This will make your studies easier.

Best regards
