Calculate your uni grade

Our university grade calculator takes a percentage mark for each of your university courses (assignments or modules) or academic years, together with the percentage or credit weighting, and returns a weighted average for the parts you have completed so far.

How do I calculate my weighted university grade?

In order to work out your weighted average grade for your university year, module, or assignment, we take the marks (or grades) multiplied by their respective weights, sum them together, and then divide the total by the sum of the weights. An example is shown below, and the calculation is shown at the bottom of the results.

Example calculation

Student A is studying a degree in Computer Science and has undertaken three modules so far. They want to calculate their average weighted grade for the three modules.

MarkWeightModule
66%20 creditsData Analysis
55%10 creditsDatabases
71%10 creditsExperimental Design

Student A's average mark is therefore calculated at 64.5%.

Unweighted calculations

If you wish to carry out an unweighted calculation, simply leave all the weight boxes blank, or make them equal. If you want to work out the mark you require on your final exam, you can use our final grade calculator tool .

What mark do I need from the rest of my course?

Our calculator can help you work out the average mark you need from the remainder of your course, in order to achieve a target percentage, so that you can see whether you're on track to achieve the grade you want.

If you have any problems using our university grade calculator, please contact us .

How to calculate percentage of marks?

To find the percentage of marks only basic arithmetics with proportions is required. If it is a single mark, first divide the mark by the maximum possible mark and then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. If there are multiple marks involved, first find their sum total, then proceed as if it is a single mark and divide by the maximum total marks out of which these marks were obtained. Multiply by one hundred at the end to convert to percent. You can do this by hand, following the formulae below, or by using our mark percentage calculator above.

For example, if an exam has a single section and the maximum score is 25, for a student who scored 18 enter 18 in the first input field and 25 in the second, then click "Calculate". If an exam has three sections, or a student is scored on three separate subjects, enter the three obtained scores separated by spaces or commas like so "80 60 90" and then enter the maximum score they could have obtained, e.g. 300 if the score ceiling on each test is 100.

    Marks to percentage formula

In the simplest case we have just a single exam and therefore a single test grade to work with. In this case the calculation to convert marks into percentage is straightforward by following this formula:

Mark Percentage = Scored Mark / Test Maximum x 100

"Test maximum" corresponds to the "Out of ... marks" input field in our test grade percentage calculator.

If an exam is scored in separate test sections, or if you are calculating the percentage from several separate exams, then the following formula is applicable:

Mark Percentage = Sum of Scored Marks / Test(s) Maximum x 100

The sum is calculated in the usual way using simple algebra. Our percentage calculator of marks handles that for you automatically.

Test marks to percentage - practical examples

First, a simple example with a single test. Let's say a student scored 85 on an exam with a maximum mark of 100. Plugging the numbers into the above formula, we get:

85 / 100 = 0.85 x 100 = 85% so the test percentage is 85%.

Now for a more complicated example of converting a score to percentage where there are two tests or two test sections that are being scored. If a student scored 92 points on the first exam and 88 points on the second one, and the total marks they can get on both tests is 200, what is the percentage that the student scored? To calculate this, we first sum up the two marks and then apply the equation as usual:

(92 + 88) / 200 x 100 = 180 / 200 x 100 = 0.90 x 100 = 90% so the overall percentage mark is 90%.

The table below shows the test grades on a given examination and their corresponding percentages assuming a maximum mark of 200.

Mark percentages with a maximum test score of 200
Marks on testMarks percentage
20 10%
40 20%
60 30%
80 40%
100 50%
120 60%
140 70%
160 80%
180 90%
200 100%

All test percentages in the table are computed using this exam percentage calculator.

How to calculate the average percentage score for an entire class

The above method can be expanded to any number of marks, including calculations for the percentage scored by a whole class of students on a given test material, or even across class subjects which can be useful to educators as a measure of success. For example, with 20 students in a class, enter the 20 marks obtained in the "Scored" calculator field (separate by spaces or commas) and then the maximum possible score (e.g. 20x40 = 800 if each student can get a maximum of 40 points) in the "Out of" field.

What is a percentage?

0.5 × 100 = 50

In other words, the ratio of 25 males to students in the classroom is equivalent to 50% of students in the classroom being male.

Percentage formula

Although the percentage formula can be written in different forms, it is essentially an algebraic equation involving three values.

P × V 1 = V 2

P =
1.5
30

If solving manually, the formula requires the percentage in decimal form, so the solution for P needs to be multiplied by 100 in order to convert it to a percent. This is essentially what the calculator above does, except that it accepts inputs in percent rather than decimal form.

Percentage difference formula

The percentage difference between two values is calculated by dividing the absolute value of the difference between two numbers by the average of those two numbers. Multiplying the result by 100 will yield the solution in percent, rather than decimal form. Refer to the equation below for clarification.

Percentage Difference =
|V - V |
(V + V )/2
EX:
|10 - 6|
(10 + 6)/2
4
8

Percentage change formula

Percentage increase and decrease are calculated by computing the difference between two values and comparing that difference to the initial value. Mathematically, this involves using the absolute value of the difference between two values then dividing the result by the initial value, essentially calculating how much the initial value has changed.

The percentage increase calculator above computes an increase or decrease of a specific percentage of the input number. It basically involves converting a percent into its decimal equivalent, and either subtracting (decrease) or adding (increase) the decimal equivalent from and to 1, respectively. Multiplying the original number by this value will result in either an increase or decrease of the number by the given percent. Refer to the example below for clarification.

EX: 500 increased by 10% (0.1) 500 × (1 + 0.1) = 550 500 decreased by 10% 500 × (1 – 0.1) = 450

This test grade calculator is a must if you're looking for a tool to help set a grading scale . Also known as test score calculator or teacher grader , this tool quickly finds the grade and percentage based on the number of points and wrong (or correct) answers. Moreover, you can change the default grading scale and set your own. Are you still wondering how to calculate test scores? Scroll down to find out – or simply experiment with this grading scale calculator.

If this test grade calculator is not the tool you're exactly looking for, check out our other grading calculators like the grade calculator .

Prefer watching rather than reading? We made a video for you! Check it out below:

To calculate the percentile test score, all you need to do is divide the earned points by the total points possible . In other words, you're simply finding the percentage of good answers:

percentage score = (#correct / #total) × 100

As #correct + #wrong = #total , we can write the equation also as:

percentage score = 100 × (#total - #wrong) / #total

Then, all you need to do is convert the percentage score into a letter grade . The default grading scale looks as in the table below:

If you don't like using the +/- grades, the scale may look like:

  • An A is 90% to 100%;
  • A B is 80% to 89%;
  • A C is 70% to 79%;
  • A D is 60% to 69%; and finally
  • F is 59% and below – and it's not a passing grade

Above, you can find the standard grading system for US schools and universities. However, the grading may vary among schools, classes, and teachers. Always check beforehand which system is used in your case.

Sometimes the border of passing score is not 60%, but, e.g., 50 or 65%. What then? We've got you covered – you can change the ranges of each grade! Read more about it in the last section of this article: Advanced mode options .

Our test score calculator is a straightforward and intuitive tool!

Enter the number of questions/points/problems in the student's work (test, quiz, exam – anything). Assume you've prepared the test with 18 questions.

Type in the number the student got wrong . Instead – if you prefer – you can enter the number of gained points. Let's say our exemplary student failed to answer three questions.

Here we go! Teacher grader tool shows the percentage and grade for that score. For our example, the student scored 83.33% on a test, which corresponds to a B grade.

Underneath you'll find a full grading scale table . So to check the score for the next students, you can type in the number of questions they've got wrong – or just use this neat table.

That was a basic version of the test grade calculator. But our teacher grader is a much more versatile and flexible tool!

You can choose more options to customize this test score calculator. Just hit the Advanced mode button below the tool, and two more options will appear:

Increment by box – Here, you can change the look of the table you get as a result. The default value is 1, meaning the student can get an integer number of points. But sometimes it's possible to get, e.g., half-points – then you can use this box to declare the increment between the next scores.

Percentage scale – In this set of boxes, you can change the grading scale from the default one. For example, assume that the test was challenging and you'd like to change the scale so that getting 50% is already a passing grade (usually, it's 60% or even 65%). Change the last box, Grade D- ≥ value, from default 60% to 50% to reach the goal. You can also change the other ranges if you want to.

And what if I don't need +/- grades ? Well, then just ignore the signs 😄

How do I calculate my test grade?

To calculate your test grade:

  • Determine the total number of points available on the test.
  • Add up the number of points you earned on the test.
  • Divide the number of points you earned by the total number of points available.
  • Multiply the result by 100 to get a percentage score.

That's it! If you want to make this easier, you can use Omni's test grade calculator.

Is 27 out of 40 a passing grade?

This depends mainly on the grading scale that your teacher is using. If a passing score is defined as 60% (or a D-), then 27 out of 40 would correspond to a 67.5% (or a D+), which would be a passing grade. However, depending on your teacher’s scale, the passing score could be higher or lower.

What grade is 7 wrong out of 40?

This is a B-, or 82.5% . To get this result:

Use the following percentage score formula: percentage score = 100 × (#total - #wrong) / #total

Here, #total represents the total possible points, and #wrong , the number of incorrect answers.

Substitute your values: percentage score = 100 × (40 - 7) / 40 percentage score = 82.5%

Convert this percentage into a letter grade. In the default grading scale, 82.5% corresponds to a B-. However, grading varies — make sure to clarify with teachers beforehand.

Is 75 out of 80 an A?

Yes , a score of 75 out of 80 is an A according to the default grading scale. This corresponds to a percentage score of 93.75%.

Online Grade Calculator

Brief overview of how it works.

To start working with a tool, it is useful to understand how it works. The Grade Calculator consists of three columns that should be completed and a box for the average mark results. To start calculations, it is necessary to enter numerical values in the Mark and Weight columns. Only 0 to 100 numbers are available in the fields. You can also add rows by clicking the +ADD ROW box and edit information by clicking the RESET box. The Calculate computes results by different formulas depending on the required type of a grade: final, weighted, semester or for a certain assignment.

Final Grade Calculator For Your Final Target

The Final Grade Calculator is designed to calculate the percentage average mark that is required for an assignment or final exam in order to get a certain total grade. It comprises three fields of data:

Current grade – that is the points achieved for all the evaluated assignments to the moment of calculation

Final exam weight shows the importance of the test or exam that will be passed

Required final grade – that is the target value that a student wants to achieved in total for the subject.

According to a calculation formula, the required final grade is calculated by determining the weight of current grade, then weighted current grade, weighted final exam grade and weighted required grade, as follows:

Final exam grade = (weighted required grade – weighted current grade)/ final exam weight,

where each weighted grade is the grade times its weight within final total grade.

If a current or required semester grade needs to be calculated, the Semester Grade Calculator is used. It works on the same principle as the Final Grade Calculator, except that it gives the semester final grade results. The Calculator contains three Grade fields: First Quarter Grade, Second Quarter Grade, Final Exam; and the corresponding Percent of Semester Grade fields as well as the Final Grade field. The quarter grades represent the grades for classes and the percent of grade fields show their percentage meanings. To determine the required value, all the known values should be entered in the fields. The Semester Grade Calculator makes it possible to find either the semester final grade or the grade needed for the final exam in order to get a required final grade. In the second case, it is necessary to specify the desired value in the Final Grade field. Different grade calculators are very useful in studying and are often used by students in order to succeed in classes.

Weight Your Progress With The Weighted Grade Calculator

Sometimes, you may need to estimate the average grade you received for finished assignment(s). A weighted grade calculator can come in useful for this. It computes the total grade weight in percentage. The weighted grade calculator finds a weighted grade on the basis of received grade and its weight within the final grade. The grade percentage calculator returns the grade percentage within the total points. It is calculated by dividing the received points by the final possible points times 100%. Many high schools and colleges provide calculators to evaluate a grade point average (GPA). College grade calculators can determine both the average value of accumulated achievements in a course or in a set of classes over a period of time. Grades are usually granted for a number of tasks, tests and quizzes. A college grade calculator may be based on letter (A-E) and numerical or just numerical ranking that represents the grading. The average value is calculated by adding up all final grades and dividing the received count by the number of the grades. Calculators may vary significantly from one educational institution to another. It depends on different academic honors, methods of grade calculation evaluation criteria, grading systems, etc.

Video Instructions

How to calculate weighted grade average?

  • First multiple the grade received by the weight of the assignment. Repeat this for each completed assignment.
  • Then add each of the calculated values from step 1 together.
  • Next add the weight of all the completed assignments together.
  • Finally, divide the calculated value from step 2 above by the value calculated from step 3. This gives you the weighted grade average.

Weighted Grade Formula

Weighted Grade = (w 1 x g 1 + w 2 x g 2 + w 3 x g 3 + …) / (w 1 + w 2 + w 3 + …)

Example Calculation

Here is an example. Let's say you received a 90% on your first assignment and it was worth 10% of the class grade. Then let's assume you took a test and received an 80% on it. The test was worth 20% of your grade.

To calculate your average grade, follow these steps:

  • Multiple each grade by its weight. In this example, you received a 90% on the first assignment and it was worth 10%. So multiply 90 x 10 = 900. You also received an 80% on the test and it was worth 20% of the class grade. So multiply 80 x 20 = 1600.
  • Add the calculated values from step 1 together. We now have 900 + 1600 = 2500.
  • Add the weight of all the completed assignments together. To do this, add 10% for the first assignment and 20% for the second assignment. That gives us 10 + 20 = 30.
  • Finally, divide the value from step 2 by the value from step 3. That gives us 2500 / 30 = 83.33. Therefore our weighted grade average is 83.33%.

Identify Copied Material with Anti Plagiarism Software

Plagiarism can appear in different forms, but the end outcome is always the same: the plagiarist stole something from another person. Plagiarism refers to using some other person’s ideas and information without acknowledging that specific person as the source. Similar to all other forms of theft, plagiarism also has many disadvantages associated with it.

It can take place in both intentional, when you try to pass someone’s content as your own, or unintentional when you forget to mention the source for your work correctly. In spite of the kind, piracy always has consequences when it is discovered. Mostly, the punishment of accidental copying is temporary. Because ascertaining unintentional plagiarism requires knowledge of intent, the overall prestige of the plagiarist becomes the deciding factor.

Plagiarism can occur in any shape either textual or pictorial. So we not only scan the document for the copyrights but also check the duplication for images. You can also perform Reverse Image Search to look for the best matching photos. By using advance image recognition algorithms, it will bring out the matching results from all over the internet and search engines.

Before jumping to direct consequences, here’s a brief detail of how can you make sure your work is not matching with any source. Loads of information, millions of text documents, is attainable on the internet now. So, if you think you can check manually, then you are wrong. No matter, how many articles you read or how many hours you spend, you can never be sure. Hence, the alternative best way you can take help from is a free plagiarism detector. There are many such tools readily available on the internet, providing best services to users. Majority of them, search your material against billions of contents and underlines each sentence which resembles with another posted article.

Grade Calculator

Want to know your class grade? Use our simple grade calculator to add up all your assignments and figure out your total score.

How to Use the Grade Calculator

Keeping track of your class grade is essential for academic success. Use our calculator to keep tabs on your progress; enter your assignments, their grades and weights and voilà! Curious what grade you'll need on the final? Check out our final grade calculator .

Step-by-Step Tutorial

For those who prefer text instead of videos, follow the steps below to calculate your class grade. It's easy!

Enter your assessment name

To start, enter the name of the assessment. This could be a homework assignment, essay or exam.

Enter your assessment grade

Next, enter the grade you received for that particular assessment. You can select a letter or percent.

Enter your assessment weight

In the last field, enter the assessment's percentage weight in the class (i.e. how many points it is worth). These are often found on the class syllabus.

Add another assessment (optional)

Select "add assessment" to add another assessment row to your class, and then repeat steps 1–3 for the new item.

Add another class (optional)

Click on the "add class" button to start calculating your grade for another class, and then follow the same process as before.

How are Grades Calculated?

Most classes use whats known as a 'weighted' system, where each group of assessments (homework assignments, essays, exams, etc.) are each worth a different proportion of your total grade.

However, it isn't as simple as adding all your points up at the end of the semester. You may get 10/10 points on your homework, and 10/10 points on a quiz, but the quiz might be worth more relative to your overall class grade.

If that sounds complicated but you're interested in learning more have a look at our guide on How to Calculate Grades , it's chock full of everything you need to know, and then some.

Study, Track, Repeat

Use pencil and paper for your assignments, not keeping track of your grades. Our calculator will save your progress and you can revisit it at any time to continue adding more assessments, scores or classes. Bookmark us for easy access!

Final Grade Calculator

This tool will determine what grade (percentage) you need on your final exam in order to get a certain grade in a class.

Your current grade is %.

You want (at least) a % in the class.

Your final is worth % of your grade.

Calculate what I need on the final

Since you’ve already taken your final exam, you can now calculate your overall grade.

Your grade was % before.

You got a % on the final.

Calculate my overall grade

If your final is in the “tests” category, then your overall grade will be affected by your current test average and how many tests you’ve taken so far.

Tests are worth % of your grade.

You have taken tests already.

Your test average is %.

The final is worth tests.

If your final has multiple parts and you’ve finished some of them, then you can calculate what you need on the remaining parts. Your current grade should not include any part of your final.

You have parts to your final.

You have taken part(s) already.

Your 1st part is worth points.

Your 2nd part is worth points.

Your 3rd part is worth points.

Your 4th part is worth points.

Your 5th part is worth points.

Your 6th part is worth points.

Your 7th part is worth points.

Your 8th part is worth points.

On part 1, you got points.

On part 2, you got points.

On part 3, you got points.

On part 4, you got points.

On part 5, you got points.

On part 6, you got points.

On part 7, you got points.

Calculate what I need on the rest of the final

You can calculate how much your final is worth by dividing the number of points in your final by the total number of points.

Including the final, there are points possible.

Your final is worth points.

Calculate how much my final is worth

Your overall grade depends on how low your lowest test grades are. If your final replaces your lowest test grade, then tell the calculator that your lowest 1 test is dropped and your final also counts as 1 test.

Your have taken tests already.

Your lowest tests are dropped.

Lowest test grade was %.

2nd lowest test was %.

3rd lowest test was %.

4th lowest test was %.

5th lowest test was %.

6th lowest test was %.

7th lowest test was %.

8th lowest test was %.

Your final also counts as tests.

Your final is also worth % of your grade.

Have another question? Try one of these:

  • I took the final. What’s my overall grade?
  • My final counts as a test. What do I need to get?
  • There are 2+ parts in my final. What do I have to get on them?
  • My class has a point system. How much is the final worth?
  • My lowest test grade is dropped. What do I need to get?
  • I need something else (advanced mode) .

How does this work? Most class grades are made up of several categories: homework, classwork, tests/quizzes, and the final exam. Usually, each category is worth a percentage of your overall grade. But because your final exam isn't scored until the very end, it isn't included when calculating your current overall grade. Instead, all the other categories are scaled up to consume the weight reserved for the final exam. Therefore, you can calculate the minimum grade you need to score on the final exam using the formula:

Required = (Goal − Current × (100% − Final Weight)) / Final Weight

See the formula sheet for an explanation of this formula and other formulas used in this calculator. It's not rocket science, it's just math! You could, of course, do this on any calculator, but you're here on RogerHub because it's cool. (:

I need more help! Try one of the different calculator modes listed above. The advanced mode handles many different kinds of situations, such as:

  • If you have more tests and homework before the final
  • When your final counts as a test grade
  • Dropping the lowest test grades
  • Makeup assignments or test retakes
  • Extra credit
  • Missing assignments

Assignment length requirements are usually given in terms of numbers of words.

Unless the lecturer tells you that these limits are strict, it is normally acceptable to be 10% above or below this word limit (so, for example, a 2000 word assignment should be between 1800 and 2200 words). If the assignment uses the words “up to” (as in “up to 2500 words”) that usually means that you cannot go above the limit.

Use the tool below to calculate the acceptable range for an assignment (based on +/- 10%).

from  to  words

Unless the lecturer tells you otherwise, the word limit does not include ‘administrative’ sections of the assignment: the cover or title page, table of contents, table of figures, reference list, list of works cited, bibliography, or any appendices.

The word limit that you are given reflects the level of detail required . This means that if your assignment is too long, you're either taking too many words to explain your point or giving too many / too detailed examples. If your assignment is too short, either there is more to the answer than you have written or the assignment has not gone into enough detail about the answer.

  • Don't try to remove single words from your assignment. It is unlikely to reduce the assignment's length significantly, but it may confuse your argument . Instead, aim to remove or condense whole sections of your assignment.
  • You should not include something just because it is a fact, or just because it is included in your course materials. Include something only if it is relevant to your argument.
  • Be direct. State your point rather than writing many paragraphs to ‘lead up’ to it.
  • Go back to the question . Which sections relate to the point and which are secondary?
  • Go back to the plan . Which paragraphs fit in the overall structure? Which paragraphs overlap and can be combined?
  • Remove sections where you
  • Over-explain your point
  • Over-specify your point
  • Repeat yourself
  • Write off-topic or ramble
  • Remove multiple examples where one or two are sufficient.
  • Remove hedging language that adds little to the argument (e.g., it would seem that, it is possible that).

If you are often over the word count you should look at your writing style. See writing concisely for more.

Explain your argument fully

  • Make sure every argument in your head and in your plan is on the page.
  • Would a general (i.e., non-specialist) reader understand your point? Have someone else read over your assignment and ask you questions about it. What do they think is missing?
  • Are there gaps in your argument?
  • Does each point logically follow the last one, or do you jump over important points?

Look for the ‘hidden’ answer

  • What theories do you think the marker expects?
  • How does this relate to the materials from lectures and study guides? Use the course information in your answer to the assignment question.
  • Are there complications or contradictions in the argument or in your research? Explain them and explore them.

Flesh it out

  • Define any special terminology you've used that a general reader would not be familiar with.
  • Illustrate with more examples and/or quotations.
  • Contextualise and explain the quotations you use. How do they relate to your argument?

Online Grade Calculator

How It Works

Before you start working with this tool, we suggest getting acquainted with it so you can understand how to use it. When opening the Grade Calculator, you have to complete three columns and an additional box where you must specify your average grades. Make sure to enter only numerical values in both Weight and Mark columns. You can enter numbers ranging from 0 to 100. If you need to add rows, click + ADD ROW. If you want to edit information, click RESET. The Grade Calculator uses various algorithms of calculation depending on the type of a grade that you need. Thus, you are able to calculate weighted, final, and semester grades as well as your grade for an assignment.

Final Grade Calculator

The Final Grade Calculator helps you obtain an estimated total grade by calculating a required grade for a final exam or an assignment. This value is displayed as a percentage. There are three fields that must be completed:

  • Current grade is the field where you have to specify marks achieved at this moment.
  • Final exam weight is the parameter that reflects the importance of the exam or test.
  • Required final grade is the target total grade that you want to achieve for the subject.

To calculate the required final grade, our Grade Calculator uses the weighted current grade, weighted required grade, weighted current grade, and weighted final exam grade. The formula looks as follows:

Final exam grade = (weighted required grade – weighted current grade) / final exam weight

You can also use the Semester Grade Calculator to calculate the required semester grade. It works the same way as the Final Grade Calculator, but its results are calculated for the semester. This program has three fields for grades: the First and the Second Quarter Grades, and the Final Exam. Other two fields contain the Final Grade and the Percent of Semester Grade. The Percent of Grade field represents the percentage value of quarter grades. In turn, the quarter grades show your grades for classes. You have to enter all necessary information to calculate the required final mark. The Semester Grade Calculator allows you to easily calculate the semester grade as well as to estimate the grade for the final exam that you must get to achieve the final grade that you need. In the latter case you need to specify the necessary value in the Final Grade field. Grade calculators can help students achieve their goals and improve their performance in classes.

Evaluate Your Progress with the Weighted Grade Calculator

Many students want to estimate their average grades to get a complete picture of their real success and set proper goals for the future. The Weighted Grade Calculator is a simple and useful tool that allows you to do it easily. It calculates the percentage of the total grade weight. The weighted grade is calculated based on the weight of received grades within the final grade. To calculate the grade percentage for total points, you can use the Grade Percentage Calculator. In this case, the received points are divided by the final possible points. Many colleges and high schools provide similar calculators for students so that they can calculate GPA – a grade point average. Such calculators usually work with the average value of your achievements in a set of classes or in a course, considering a certain period of time. You have to specify grades for a number of quizzes, tests, or any tasks. Some college calculators show numerical values or numerical rankings, while others display letters (A-E). If you sum this value with all your final grades and divide this number by the number of grades, you will obtain the average value. All educational institutions have different calculators, so if you can’t calculate a certain grade using a calculator of your university or college, you can easily do it with the help of our online Grade Calculator.

How to calculate a weighted grade? To come up with a mathematically exact grade is not an easy task considering that what you attempt to qualitatively describe are your struggles and successes. Fortunately, our software allows you to compute the numerical value with finely tuned accuracy because it strips the calculations of bias and subjectivity. Simply enter your data into boxes and hit the Calculate button. That’s being said, there many different measures you might need to calculate in college. Currently, we are expanding the functionality of the WowEssays tool to add the following values:

  • Current Grade One of the most frequently made calculations by students. It allows you to measure the points gained for completing the evaluated assignments up to the point of calculation.
  • Final Exam Weight This measure helps you determine the greatest effort you need to put in the upcoming exam to achieve the desired academic outcomes.
  • Required Final Grade The calculation lets you determine the exam/test score needed to get a certain course grade. The computed values are goal grade, current grade, and final weight.

Easy Grade Calculator for All Assignments

To become a strategic learner, use our assignment grade calculator. It lets you evaluate the weight of each assignment before you start writing it. Thus, you can know whether it’s worth spending hours on a particular paper or your time can be spent productively elsewhere. After all, some assignments with a minor contribution to your course grade can be completed with minimum effort. It’s essential to recognize them before you put your time and energy into their completion. And it is exactly why our calculator comes in handy. Guideline of the Grades You May Receive

40  – While this score is possible, it is extremely unlikely. This score is only given if the student barely wrote anything.

45  – Extremely poor answer, almost missed what subject the examiners were testing. The student did not demonstrate an understanding of the essay or the subject matter. It is also pretty tough to get this score.

50  – Very poor.

55  – Needs much improvement, but hit some issues.

60  – Not quite passing, but not too bad. Some improvement is needed.

65  – The student demonstrated a sufficient understanding of the essay and discussed the facts and the law well enough to pass.  A passing answer.

70  – Very good answer. Well organized and nicely discussed.

75  – Close to flawless. The answer contained creative arguments, hit the main issues hard, and discussed everything very well.

80  – While reading it the grader was in awe, it was that good.

100  – The top 2 answers selected to be on the California State Bar’s website.

MBE Scores: Raw vs. Scaled

  • The percentage needed for a passing MBE score in California is 69.5% (1390/2000 or 139/200) is the scaled score. Being that 25 random questions are dropped; a raw score of 1220/1750 or 122/175 is needed.
  • For a more accurate determination of your score, take advantage of One-Timers’ MBE Test Simulator. (The average score of your last two MBE timed exams given to you by One-Timers should be a pretty fair indicator of how you scored on the actual MBE.)

Scaling Information

  • The Committee of Bar Examiners utilizes a scoring procedure designed to ensure the level of difficulty of the exam remains unchanged from previous administrations of the exam. The statistical technique, called scaling, converts scores on the written section (essay questions and PT) to the MBE scale measurement. Converting the total written raw scores to the same scale of measurement as the MBE adjusts for possible differences in average question difficulty and grading across different administrations of the exam.
  • On the written section of the exam, applicants were initially graded on a basis of 700 maximum possible points. An applicant could earn up to 100 raw points on each of the five essay questions and up to 100 raw points on the PT. The grade on the PT is doubled in the calculation of the total raw written points. The scores obtained on the written section of the exam are then translated to the 2000-point MBE scale. An applicant’s total score is the scaled MBE score multiplied by .50 plus the converted score on the written section multiplied by .50.
  • The committee of bar examiners utilizes a grading procedure designed to ensure the level of difficulty remains “unchanged” from one administration of the exam to another. As such, California can only publish its scaling method after the results are released. Thus, there is no way for the calculator to be 100% accurate.

Determining the percentage can be challenging, even for adults. This guide will help you with percentages, ratios, fractions, value changes, decimal conversions, and more!

What is a Percentage?

A percentage is a way to express a number as parts per hundred. You can see it with the “%” sign. For example, 50% means 50 out of 100 parts. This helps us compare and understand numbers easily because we always think of them with the same value: 100.

We use percentages in many areas, like calculating loan interest rates or finding how much something has gone up or down in price. They simplify working with fractions and ratios since they involve dividing things into 100 equal parts.

Importance of Percentage

Calculating percentages is key for managing money, setting budgets, and checking facts in trade, economic studies, and data analysis. Understanding ratios helps compare different amounts and see how big changes or differences are.

It would be best if you had to know how to calculate cut rates, added costs, interest charges, and other critical finance calculations.

Working out the difference between values is crucial for analyzing trends, shifts, and information variations. If you can use a percent calculator and calculate ratios correctly, you can make smart choices and read numbers accurately.

Percentage Formula

The percentage formula can be written in different ways. It uses three values: P, X, and Y. The basic math is P multiplied by X equals Y.

P represents the percentage you want to apply, X is the initial value the percentage will modify, and Y is the result of the percentage operating on X.

However, if calculating for a percentage, it’s important to note that the value returned will be the actual percentage, not the decimal representation of the percentage. And if you solve the problem manually, the formula requires the percentage to be in decimal form. Therefore, you need to multiply the solution for P by 100 to convert it into a percent.

E.g. P × 50 = 2 P = 2 / 50 = 0.04 × 100 = 4%

Using the percentage calculator above will automatically convert the input percentage into a decimal to compute the solution.

How to Calculate Percentages

Calculating percentages is simple once you know the right formula. You multiply or divide numbers to find the answer you need.

Using the percentage formula: P% * X = Y

To find a part of a quantity using percentages, multiply the percentage (P%) by the whole number (X) to get your answer (Y). For example, to figure out 20% of 50, you do 20% times 50 divided by 100 equals 10.

This method helps in solving problems quickly without getting lost in complex math.

This formula shows how much one value is as a part of another. So, if you need to work out how much 25% off means on a $200 jacket, use this equation: 25% times $200 divided by 100 equals $50 saved.

It’s quick and avoids confusion with long mathematical processes.

Finding what percent of X is Y: Y/X = P%

Figuring out what percentage one number is of another sounds tricky, but it’s simple math. You take Y and divide it by X. This gives you a decimal. Then, you multiply that decimal by 100 to get your percentage, which we call P%.

Think of it as cutting a pie into equal parts (X) and counting the number of parts (Y) you took.

For example, imagine you have a big pizza cut into 8 slices (X). If you eat 2 slices (Y), the calculation to determine your percentage of the pizza would be 2 divided by 8 equals 0.25.

Multiply that by 100, and voilà! You discover that you’ve eaten 25% of the pizza. It’s easy to see how much or little of something compares to the whole without complex equations or fancy calculators—just division and multiplication.

Determining X if P percent of it is Y: Y/P% = X

To find out a whole number when you know a certain percent of it, divide the part by the percentage (in decimal form). This math trick helps you determine how much you spent if 20% of your money equals $10.

You divide to get the total amount. It’s like solving a puzzle where you have one piece and must figure out how many pieces there are in total.

This technique is helpful in many real-world scenarios. For example, if a store offers a discount on an item and you know the dollar amount and percentage of the discount, you can work out the item’s original price before it was marked down.

Divide the discount dollar amount by a percentage and convert it into decimals. This will make smart shopping decisions easier because you will understand precisely how discounts affect prices.

Calculating Percentage of a Number

To find the percentage of a number, use the simple formula: P% * X = Y. This means you multiply the percent (P%) by your starting number (X) to get your answer (Y). It’s like figuring out how much icing you’ll put on a cake.

If your cake is the whole thing and you want to cover 50% of it with icing, multiply 50% by the size of your cake.

This method is handy for calculating sales tax on a purchase. Your bill is $100, and sales tax is 8%. You plug those numbers into the formula by multiplying 0.08 by $100 (since percent means “per one hundred,” 8% becomes 0.08 when used in math problems).

Your sales tax would be $8. Calculating percentages will help prevent surprises on your bill!

Identifying What Percent of a Given Number is Another Number

Figuring out what percentage one number is of another might sound harsh, but it’s pretty simple. To get your answer in percentage form, divide the first number by the second one and then multiply by 100.

This method helps you see how big or small one amount is compared to another, making it easier to understand their relationship.

For example, if you want to know what percentage 50 is of 200, you divide 50 by 200. The result will show that 50 is a quarter or 25% of 200. This calculation can help with many things, like figuring out sale prices or better understanding test scores.

Determining a Number if a Certain Percent of it is Known

You can find out the whole number if you know a part of it is a certain percentage. This process uses the percentage formula Y/P% = X. If you have 20% of a number equal to 50, you use this equation to discover that whole number.

It’s like solving a mystery using math.

This method helps in many situations, such as figuring out how much you spent if you know the sale tax rate on your purchase or determining the total votes in an election if you have the percentage won by a candidate.

All it takes is plugging numbers into our percentage calculator for quick and correct results without needing paper and pencil calculations or complex algebraic equations.

Avoiding accidental plagiarism

You don't need a plagiarism checker, right?

You would never copy-and-paste someone else’s work, you’re great at paraphrasing, and you always keep a tidy list of your sources handy.

But what about accidental plagiarism ? It’s more common than you think! Maybe you paraphrased a little too closely, or forgot that last citation or set of quotation marks.

Even if you did it by accident, plagiarism is still a serious offense. You may fail your course, or be placed on academic probation. The risks just aren’t worth it.

The most accurate college admissions calculator, ever

Factor your extracurriculars, intended major, background, and more for the most accurate chancing available. All for free.

What is chancing?

How accurate is it, what current seniors are saying, understanding your chances can be difficult.

CollegeVine takes the guesswork out of college admissions. Students have many misconceptions about average acceptance rates and their personal admissions chances. Here are important things you need to understand about your chances:

The acceptance rate on a school’s website is not your chance of getting in

Schools calculate acceptance rates by dividing the number of accepted students by the total number that applied. Among all the students who apply, some have a 99% chance of acceptance, while others have less than a 1% chance.

There are factors outside your control that have an impact on your chances

Colleges and universities build each freshman class to include a diverse array of students, and that means selecting for diverse racial, economic, and personal backgrounds.

Everything you do in high school can impact your admissions outcomes

Grades matter, but so does the difficulty of the classes you took. Extracurricular activities count, both in terms of what positions you have held and how you have improved your community.

Free Online Plagiarism Checker with Percentage for Students

When students use online professional writing services, they expect to have original pieces written from scratch and according to their instructions. One of the most critical factors in using online writing services is that the pieces of writing they deliver to students are 0% plagiarism. Most writing companies check for plagiarism percentage but do not offer a free plagiarism checker online for a student to use when he asks, “check my paper for plagiarism.”

Sometimes students have written their essays and papers and want to use a plagiarism detector. They will not find an essay plagiarism checker to use on an online writing service – at least not the majority of them. When writing companies do offer additional resources, such as a free plagiarism checker, students come to trust that they are in the business of helping them rather than just making money. While knowing your plagiarism score is good, it is best to ask professionals " write my paper ," and there will be no plagiarism issues.

Plagiarism Checker for Students

Let’s face it. It’s easy to get a bit sloppy when doing research for a paper. An author’s words are paraphrased too closely to the real thing, a unique idea is not credited to its owner, and sometimes, even a direct quote is not cited correctly. All these things open a student up for charges of plagiarism, even if they write college papers from scratch with the best of intentions. Having a free online plagiarism checker for students, such as that offered by Trust My Paper, gives a student a neutral, objective source to ensure that no instructor will find plagiarized content in what he has submitted. And having a plagiarism detector that is a unique piece of software not used by anyone else is critical. More on that later.

There is also something called “self-plagiarism.” Most students are unaware of this issue, but it is accurate. Suppose a student has written a previous original piece and run through a common plagiarism detector used by many institutions. Now, he is writing a second piece on a similar topic and has decided to use a small percentage of content from that previous piece. Using that same common plagiarism detector will result in repeated content being flagged as plagiarized. Better to catch this with the Trust My Paper plagiarism checker before turning the paper in.

The consequences of plagiarism become more severe as students move through their schooling careers. A middle school student who writes his first research paper is a beginner and may not fully understand the “rules” of plagiarism. Rather than severe consequences, his teacher will probably re-teach those rules, point out what was plagiarized, and have him rewrite those parts. By high school, things get a little more serious, and students can face severely lowered grades on writing that contains plagiarism. Once in college, a student is expected to know the rules and to produce fully original work. Consequences for plagiarism are severe and can even include expulsion. If a student has any concerns about plagiarism, he must find an online plagiarism checking tool with percentage and clear his piece before submitting it. Trust My Paper has that tool.

Benefits of Free Online Plagiarism Checker by Trust My Paper

Let’s look at probably the most common online plagiarism detector – Turnitin. Most colleges use Turnitin campus-wide so that instructors will check papers for plagiarism through this software. And it’s a free plagiarism checker with percentage. Here is a typical scenario. A student finishes a paper and runs it through Turnitin. It gives him 95% originality, which is acceptable. He then submits that essay to his professor. That professor then runs it through Turnitin, and it comes back plagiarized. The student has some explaining to do, even though he did nothing wrong.

This is probably not your biggest worry when dealing with checking for plagiarism. You just want to ensure you have not goofed and plagiarized something by mistake. Often, these are failures to cite sources correctly or to paraphrase too closely. And if you use a good plagiarism checker with percentage, these issues will be identified so you can fix them.

You will not encounter undetected plagiarism issues when you use the free plagiarism checker on the Trust My Paper website. And there are some other significant benefits when you check a paper for plagiarism through our tool:

  • We provide a 100% guarantee of the results
  • We compare your piece with over 1,500,000 pieces of content on the web
  • We support 150+ languages
  • We use the latest, most sophisticated algorithms

Can I check my essay for plagiarism for free online?

Yes, you can find an online plagiarism checker in a lot of places online. Quality can vary, though. Scanners that use the most current technology and algorithms will give you a good result. But there is no way to always know if those are in place when you choose a checker and to get the accuracy and completeness you really need. When you decide to use Trust My Paper’s plagiarism, you will get the accuracy and the comprehensiveness you need. You’ll have an overall percentage of originality and a highlighting of any text that is a problem.

As a student, is it free for me to use Trust My Paper plagiarism checker?

Absolutely. No matter what your grade level, no matter where your institution is located, you can access our plagiarism checker for free, as often as you need, 24 hours a day. It supports a number of foreign languages, is fast and easy, and will even scan a large number of sources to ensure accuracy. Our plagiarism checker is one of several free resources we offer to students because we are committed to your success. Helping you make sure your writing work is 100% plagiarism-free is important.

Can I scan my research paper for plagiarism for free?

Yes, of course. Our plagiarism checker will scan, analyze, and report on any piece of writing in any document format. Once the scan is complete, you can then download the full report or have it emailed to you, so you can attach it to your work when you turn it in.

Will your plagiarism report be the same as the one used by my university?

Online plagiarism checkers from different types of programs/scanners will not “look” exactly the same. But the information they all provide will be the same. There will be a percentage of originality, and for most instructors and institutions, it must be 90% or higher. It will point out pieces of content that are too similar to existing content, found on huge databases or elsewhere on the web. The “meat” of any plagiarism checker for students will be the same, just in different sequencing.

Can I be punished for plagiarism?

You bet you can. Younger students who are new to writing essays, papers, book reports, and such will not face the consequences. Their teachers will point out plagiarism and explain why it is wrong. As students get older, punishments will be in place for plagiarism. By the time students are in college, consequences can be mild to severe, depending upon the instructor and the institution’s policies. Our advice? Take no chances. Run everything you write through the Trust My Paper free checker, and submit your work with confidence.

What does a free plagiarism checker with percentage mean?

Many free plagiarism checkers only tell you if your content is original or not. That can be misleading. In truth, almost no content is 100% original. Commonly used phrases, quotes, and other similar content will count as content that isn’t completely original. Don’t forget about self-plagiarism! This is when a student uses their own previous work, but doesn’t cite it. In addition to this, different schools and organizations allow different thresholds of originality.

A free plagiarism checker with percentage doesn’t just showcase spots where there may be issues with originality. It shows you exactly how much of your paper is completely original. This lets you determine if you need to change anything.

All of these are clear reasons why you need a plagiarism checker that provides an accurate percentage. This will allow you to verify that your content is as original as it needs to be.

What percentage of plagiarism is considered bad?

That depends on the standards set by your instructor or school. It also depends on how you are presenting any information you have lifted from other sources. For example, a paragraph-long quote that is properly sourced and attributed is not plagiarism. However, it may show up as content that isn’t original. On the other hand, if you steal a shorter quote, and pass it off as your own thought, without giving credit, that is plagiarism.

In many cases, you can find out what the expectations are. Sometimes, your instructor will publish the percentage of originality they expect in the assignment rubric. In other cases, it will be with the course rules.

Don’t forget to learn what will happen if you should turn in a paper that isn’t completely original. In some cases, the consequences could be failure or expulsion. In other instances, your instructor may simply wish to review your paper to ensure that you have given proper credit.

I cited my sources, is it considered plagiarism?

In some instances, the answer is yes. For example, if you use someone’s exact words, but fail to use quotes, that may be considered to be plagiarism. You can avoid this by properly attributing words using quotes, in addition to citing your source. Sometimes, it is best to paraphrase or reword the statement.

Can you detect plagiarism without a plag checker?

There may be a few things you can do to look for plagiarism in your writing. For example, you can:

  • Do a Google search on passages of your writing to see if it finds matching content.
  • Double-check that all of your writing uses quotations and citations properly.
  • Look for visual cues in your paper. For example, a passage that uses a different font may be something you copied in, then forgot to paraphrase or quote.

You may also ask someone you trust to review your paper.

Unfortunately, while these actions may help, none of them are a decent substitute for a reliable plagiarism detector. Remember that online, plagiarism detection software can quickly access and review more than a million papers, articles, and other content. You simply cannot match that using any other tool or technique. That is why it is best to rely on a high-quality plagiarism checker that gives you an originality percentage.

Is it safe to check for plagiarism online?

Absolutely! In fact, this is the safest, most convenient method there is. Did you know your instructor or employer will likely use an online checker to ensure your work is original? It only makes sense that you would gain peace of mind by having your writing double-checked for plagiarism by a company that is established in the field of academic writing. Here are some things to consider as you look for a plag checker online:

  • Does the service have connections with reputable academic databases?
  • Have students been satisfied with their experiences with this service?
  • Is it easy to use the plagiarism checking tool?
  • Does the company that offers the service have an excellent track record in the field of academic writing?
  • Will the tool check for self-plagiarism?
  • Can the student expect to receive an accurate number that reflects their originality?
  • Is there multiple language support?
  • Is it free?
  • Can you use the plagiarism checker multiple times for a single paper?

Our plagiarism checker has all of these features. Further, you may drag and drop files, or use copy and paste. All standard file formats are supported.
