    Our admissions committee selectively admits about 10 new graduate students each year. A minimum GPA of 3.0 during the last two years of undergraduate study is required, a combined Verbal and Quantitative GRE score of 300 makes one competitive, and a background in sociology and doing well in an undergraduate statistics course is desirable.     Cerenity Collins successfully defended her dissertation, "Double Consciousness, Mixed Emotions, and Social Interaction: Examining the Racialized Experiences of Black STEM Students." Dawn Robinson served as major professor throughout Cerenity's graduate studies. Cerenity has already accepted a tenure track position at Clemson University.

    Patricia Gagné, PhD. Professor Emerita. Dr. Gagné retired as a professor of sociology in 2022 after 30 years of service at UofL. Her research focused on gender and included numerous articles on intimate partner violence, transgenderism, women and body work, and the personal and social benefits women derive from serious edgework leisure.

    McDaniel earned her Ph.D. in sociology, master's degree in sociology and graduate certificate in women's studies from the University of Georgia. She received her bachelor's degree in sociology at the University of North Florida and her associate degree in communications from Florida State University. She has taught at UNG since 2001.
