I believe that it is a game that combines strategy, athleticism, and teamwork . The best thing I like about this sport is the dribbling of the basketball. I love playing basketball with my friends at the society’s basketball court.

We used to gather every evening at 6:30 and play a match regularly to maintain the stamina and the pace of precision shooting. The winning situation in this game is completely dependent on teamwork, the result could be truly magical. Basketball is the sport that keeps me captivated with its adrenaline-pumping excitement.

My idol is Hon’ble Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. In my childhood, I tried to copy their style and always wished to be a good cricket player. As it is rightly said ‘Practice makes a Man Perfect.’ I also believed in it and practised with my school cricket team to become a good cricket player. My endurance and dedication helped me to secure the position of opening batsman for the school cricket team and we are presenting our school at the district-level cricket competition.

The main reason cricket resonates with me is its rich history and traditions. It’s a sport that has been played for centuries, and it carries with it a sense of timelessness. The iconic venues, the legends of the game, and the celebrated rivalries all contribute to the sport’s allure. Whether it’s the Ashes battles between England and Australia or the fervent India-Pakistan contests, cricket has a way of gripping the hearts and minds of fans around the world.

Cricket not only teaches sportsmanship but also helps us learn about teamwork, patience, dedication, etc. My dream is to build a successful cricket career. To accomplish my goals I am planning to take admission in the cricket academy and learn from experts.

Essay on My Favourite Sport Badminton

Among all the indoor and outdoor activities, I love to play badminton the most. Badminton is played as an indoor and outdoor game but traditionally it was an indoor game. It is one of the most admired sports among children and adults. Badminton is my favourite sport because it requires speed, practice, precision, stamina, and accuracy all at the same time.

A player needs to be very attentive while playing badminton. When each stroke of the shuttle makes a ‘whoosh’ sound, it infuses a feeling of competitiveness and enthusiasm to perform extraordinarily against the opponent.

I am a huge admirer of Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. Watching them perform makes me feel so proud and more inclined towards the sport. It’s my dream to play a badminton tournament at the National level and win for the country.

My Favorite Sport (or Game) Tennis

My Favorite Sport (or Game) Tennis

People have always said that sports are so great for anyone who struggle with drama-filled lives, anxiety, depression, and many more problems like this. They say this because sports occupy a portion of our time and provide us with an escape we can’t find anywhere else. When we are playing a sport, we are so focused on what we need to do in the heat of competition that nothing else in the world seems important.

Tennis is a very interesting sport, and it is my favorite sport. This is because playing tennis is really cool, and it needs many high-toned skills. Most of all, it only requires two persons to play. Playing tennis is really elegant. The angle of serving balls is high-toned art. Playing tennis is not as easy as playing badminton. The angle control is a very important skill in playing tennis. Any attenuate change will affect the trail of the ball.

Tennis is a sport played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a strung racquet to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent’s court. The modern game of tennis was born in the United Kingdom in the late 19th century. Then it was called “lawn tennis”. Tennis soon became popular among the upper- class English-speaking population.

Then it began to be played around the world. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including people in wheelchairs.

Other than the fact that the tiebreaker was adopted in the 1970s, the rules of tennis have not changed much since the 1890s. A recent addition to professional tennis has been the adoption of “instant replay” technology coupled with a point challenge system. This allows a player to challenge the official call of a point.

Tennis is a major spectator sport, especially the four Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. These tournaments are considered to be the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. They are held annually.

Apart from the Olympic Games, Davis Cup, Fed Cup, and Hopman Cup they are the only tournaments regulated by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). These events possess historical significance and also carry huge prize funds. Grand Slam men’s tournaments have best-of-five-set matches throughout.

At present, the Grand Slam tournaments are the only tour events that have mixed doubles contests. Grand Slam tournaments are held in conjunction with wheelchair tennis tournaments. The exception is Wimbledon, (where the grass surface doesn’t allow this) and junior tennis competitions.

Grand Slam tournaments are often seen as the culmination of a particular season, such as the US Open Series. Wimbledon players are required to wear predominantly white. This rule has made certain players like Andre Agassi avoid the tournament.

Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, and Pete Sampras are among the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport. Among the contemporaries, Roger Federer is considered to have the potential to surpass the achievements of these illustrious predecessors. Many even feel that Federer could become the greatest player in the history of the game.

Tennis is a popular sport. It’s not like volleyball or baseball which needs to scratch a team. When I wanted to play it, I just needed to find one person to play with me. It’s a very convenient sport. I could play it only with my uncle/aunty who used to play tennis when he/she was a teenager. It is the last reason why tennis became my favorite sport. In sum, tennis is not only easy to play but also an elegant sport that requires skills. It’s the best way for me to relax. If I had time I would practice it constantly!

Last month, eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer gave a commencement address to graduating students at Dartmouth University. During this speech, he used “tennis lessons” as metaphors for coping beyond university and moving on to a life that is less familiar. Although in his 25-minute speech, he never referred to them explicitly, Federer had a deep appreciation of the psychological principles that supported his lengthy and successful career as a tennis player.

“Roger will be the favourite for the first two hours, then I’ll be the favourite after that.” These were the words an unnamed opponent taunted Federer with early in his career at the Italian Open.

Although initially confused, he soon realised that any professional tennis player should be able to play well for the first two hours. In this period, you are fit and sharp, but after that you get tired, your legs get wobbly. And crucially, he suggests, your mind starts wandering . It was vital that a young Federer realised that the course of a tennis match was demanding not just physically, but also psychologically .

This was a lesson in mental toughness. It’s a skill people can hone using something psychologists call the 4C model , though Federer hasn’t directly named the model when talking about his tactics. The 4C model involves focusing on control, commitment, challenge and confidence.

It involves having a sense of control over your thoughts, emotions and behaviour in challenging situations. Those with high levels of mental toughness can regulate their reactions to stress and maintain focus and composure under pressure. Becoming mentally tough helped to prevent Federer’s mind from wandering when tired – potentially towards self-doubt – and promoted his focus and concentration, even when his mind and body were exhausted.

Later in the speech, Federer spoke of experiencing self-doubt right at the beginning of a match. He was referring to the Wimbledon final he played against Rafael Nadal in 2008. At the time, Federer was five-time champion and chasing a record breaking sixth consecutive title. By contrast, Nadal had lost the previous two Wimbledon finals to Federer.

Given this context, it may be surprising to hear that Federer felt as though he had already lost in the very first point of the match. But across the net he saw an opponent who had, just a few months before, beaten him in straight sets in the French Open. Another C of the 4C model – confidence – was low.

Federer said that it took him until the third set to remind himself that he was the current five-time champion, by which point he was already 2-0 down. This act of self-talk is a mental strategy employed by sportspeople to enhance their confidence. He challenged the negative thoughts that told him Nadal was “hungrier” and “had his number”. This is another insight into Federer’s mental toughness, and how he employed self-talk to combat low confidence and improve physical performance.

Potentially the biggest secret to Federer’s great success, though, came from his outlook on each point he played in his career. He told the Dartmouth graduates that in his career he won almost 80% of matches – but just 54% of all points he competed for. This was a reminder that even the very best tennis players win only approximately every other point. The greatest players are those that are used to accepting failures as well as their successes.

An acceptance of setbacks is a major trait of successful sportspeople and can act as a motivator for continued development and success. As Grand Slam titan Novak Djokovic told CBS in 2023 : “The difference, I guess, between the guys who are able to be the biggest champions, and the ones that are struggling to get to the highest level is the ability to not stay in those emotions for too long.”

As the Wimbledon final approaches, try to pay attention to how many points players are achieving over the course of a match. Notice how the players respond when they lose points and how they may be talking to themselves during the match. Above all, remember that every player will experience self-doubt – but some will deal with it better than others.

My Favourite Game Essay for Students and Children

500+ words essay on my favourite game.

My Favourite game essay-Playing games are very important for a human being. It keeps a man fit. Moreover, it keeps him away from diseases. Having some physical hobby is essential for a person. Most importantly many nutritionist and doctor recommend it. Children play many games. Some of them are cricket , basketball, football. Tennis , badminton, etc. Since in India the famous game is cricket many children are having it as a hobby. But my favorite is football.

My Favourite Game Essay

My Favorite Game – Football

When I was a child I liked cricket too but was never good at it. So I changed my hobby to football . Football was new to me in class 3. I did not play well in the beginning. But I liked the game very much. So I started practicing it. As a result, I began to play it well.

In class 5 I became the captain of my class football team. At that time I was so much excited to become the captain. With time a learned a lot about football.

In Football total 22 players play. Division of players is in two teams. Each team has 11 players. These players have to play with the ball only with legs. They have to kick the ball in the other teams’ goal post. Football is not like cricket. Weather is not an issue in football. Due to which players can play it the whole year.

In addition to football is a game of stamina. The players have to run on the field for the whole game. Also for 90 minutes too. Since 90 minutes is a lot there is a division in time. There are two halves. The first is of 45 minutes. Likewise, the second half is of 45 minutes too.

Get the huge list of more than 500 Essay Topics and Ideas

Rules in the Game

Like all the other games there are some rules and regulations too. First of all, the ball should not touch the ball by hand. If the ball gets touched by hand the other team gets a free-kick. There is a small area near the goal post. ‘D’ is the name of that area. The boundary of the ‘D’ is at least 10 yards from the goal post. If the player touches the ball there the opposite team gets a penalty.

Moreover, there are other rules. The second important rule is the ‘Off-Side Rule’. In this rule, if the player crosses the defender line it becomes an offside. If you are a true fan of football you must know what are defenders.

In the game, the players are into three subcategories. The first category is Forward. Forward are players who put the ball in the net of the goal post. The second category is a Midfielder. Midfielders are players who pass the ball to the forward player. The third category is the defenders. Defenders stop the other team players to put the ball in the goal post.

In addition to all the players playing on the field, there are other players too. These are substitute players. Football is a harsh game. Because of which many players get injured. When players get injured the substitutes take their place for the rest of the game.

Furthermore, there is a referee on the field. Whenever any place does a foul the referee whistles and stops the game. The referee then gives the penalty or a free-kick to the team foul against.

Moreover, if a player injures and fouls the other team player the referee gives him a Yellow or Red Card. The yellow card is a warning card. The red card is a suspension card. This card suspends the player for the rest of the game.

Let’s take a look…

Paragraph on Table Tennis in 100 Words

Table tennis is a fun game where you hit a small, light ball back and forth over a net on a table. You use a small paddle to do this. Two or four people can play, either one-on-one, or two teams with two players each. The ball must bounce once on your side, then go over the net, and bounce on the other side. You score points when the other player misses the ball or hits it off the table. This game can be played indoors and helps you move fast and think quickly. It’s like playing tennis but on a table!

Paragraph on Table Tennis in 200 Words

Table tennis is a fun game that you can play indoors, and it’s also known as ping-pong. You need a small ball, two paddles, which are like flat bats, and a table with a net in the middle. Two or four people can play at a time. The goal is to hit the ball over the net so that the other person cannot hit it back. If they miss, you get a point. The first person or team to reach 11 points wins the game, but you must win by at least 2 points. The ball moves very fast, and you have to be quick to hit it. It’s a good way to exercise because you move a lot, and it helps you to become better at other sports too. It’s important to play fair and follow the rules, like serving the ball right and taking turns. You can play with your friends at school or with your family at home. It’s a great way to have fun and make new friends. People all around the world enjoy table tennis, and some play it in big competitions like the Olympics. But most importantly, it’s about having a good time and keeping your body active.

Paragraph on Table Tennis in 250 Words

Table tennis, often called ping pong, is a fast-paced sport that is played by two or four people. Imagine a small, green table with a net in the middle; players stand on each side and hit a lightweight, white ball back and forth using small, flat bats called paddles. The aim is to hit the ball over the net onto the other person’s side of the table in such a way that they can’t return it. If you manage to do this, you score a point. The game can be really quick and requires sharp reflexes and a good eye to keep up with the ball. It’s not just about hitting hard, though; players must also be clever, putting spin on the ball or aiming for hard-to-reach spots to outsmart their opponent. You can play table tennis indoors, and it doesn’t need much space, which makes it a popular game in homes, schools, and community centers. It’s also an Olympic sport, where the very best players show off their incredible skills and lightning-quick reactions. Playing table tennis is not only fun but also good for your health. It can improve your hand-eye coordination, make you more agile, and even boost your brainpower as you think up strategies to win the game. Whether you’re playing for fun with friends or trying to become a champion, table tennis is an exciting game that people all over the world enjoy.

Table Tennis

Table tennis or ping-pong is a game played on a flat table divided by a net. Two or four players hit a light ball using a round bat across the table. ‘Rooooone!’ Novak Djokovic is convinced Holger Rune fans booed him at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic is convinced he was being booed Monday night at Wimbledon .

Don’t try to convince him otherwise — that would just be ruuuuude.

During a fourth-round match against Denmark’s Holger Rune (whose last name is pronounced ROO-na), Djokovic was clearly annoyed by the way fans at Centre Court cheered his opponent — loudly drawing out the “ooo” in a manner that is rather common at sporting events ( or Bruce Springsteen concerts ).

The 24-time Grand Slam champion thought it was a thinly veiled effort to boo him. At one point, he even appeared to discuss the matter with the chair umpire. After his straight-set victory, Djokovic gave fans a taste of their own medicine.

essay on favourite game tennis

“To all the fans that have respect and that stayed here tonight, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate it,” Djokovic said during an on-court interview with BBC’s Rishi Pershad. “And to all those people that have chosen to disrespect the player — in this case, me — have a goooood night. Goooood night. Goooood night. Very good night.”

Pershad said he hoped the fans were not disrespecting Djokovic, but the seven-time Wimbledon champion shook his head.

“They were. They were. They were. I don’t accept it,” said Djokovic, who will face Australia’s Alex De Minaur in the quarterfinals Thursday. “I know they were cheering for Rune. But that’s an excuse to also boo. Listen, I’ve been on the tour for more than 20 years.

Granderson: Wimbledon favorite Novak Djokovic is one of tennis’ greats. Try telling that to the fans

The Serb is on track to hold the sport’s most important records. But he is far from achieving the adoration of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

July 5, 2023

“So, trust me, I know all the tricks. I know how it works. It’s fine. It’s fine. It’s OK. I focus on the respectful people, that have respect, that paid [for a] ticket to come and watch tonight, and love tennis. And love tennis and appreciate the players and the effort that the players put in here.

“I played in much more hostile environments, trust me. You guys can’t touch me.”

A few boos — or perhaps a few “Rooooones” — could be heard among the cheers during and after Djokovic’s speech.

During his news conference, Djokovic admitted that paying fans have the right to express themselves.

“The crowd paid their tickets,” he said. “They have the right to be there and cheer the way they want to cheer. That’s absolutely something they choose — how they behave or how they choose to support the player is really up to them.”

Rune was asked in his post-match news conference about Djokovic’s reaction to the fans.

Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune did more than put a respectable fight against No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic on Tuesday at the U.S. Open.

Aug. 31, 2021

“If you don’t know what was happening, probably it sounded like ‘boo.’ But ... it was my name,” Rune said . “He’s played so many matches since he played me last time. If he didn’t remember, it could probably sound different for him. But I don’t think it played a massive part in the match. He was just better than me today.”

Rune added: “I think it was great support for both players to be honest. They were supporting him on good points. They were supporting me. Nice scenes on Centre Court.”

Later, during a BBC interview , Djokovic answered more questions from Pershad about his reaction to the fans.

“When I feel that a crowd is stepping over the line, I react,” Djokovic said. “I don’t regret my words or actions on the court.”

Djokovic eventually grew tired of the topic.

A series of recent social media interactions have tennis fans around the world asking one burning question: Is American rapper Lil Wayne Jelena Ostapenko's biggest fan?

By the second week of Wimbledon, the answer was clearly: Yes.

Let's roll the tape: The former French Open champion was first shouted out online by the generational hip-hop artist last week, when he reposted an interview she gave to Tennis Channel at this year's Miami Open in which she dubbed his surprise appearance her "favorite part" of attending a Drake concert in the spring. The rapper, whose legal name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., reposted the interview on his Instagram account out of the blue -- months later -- and thanked Ostapenko by saying, "Thanks for the luv."

But this budding friendship has hit a new level during the first week of the Championships: In another post-match interview on Tennis Channel after beating Ajla Tomljanovic in the first round, Ostapenko invited Tha Carter lyricist to attend one of her matches -- and later in Week 1, he eagerly responded.

"He has like 19 million followers on Instagram, and when I saw this for the first time I was like 'Wow, he saw it and he’s aware of it.' It’s unbelievable," Ostapenko said.

"He also sent me a message saying that he’s a big fan of me as well. So for me, that was like … I was staring at my phone. I stopped and I was staring at my phone for like five minutes. I couldn’t believe Lil Wayne texted me. I mean, it’s amazing.

"I would love to see him in my box, maybe when I’m playing in the US Open or when I’m in the U.S. I would love to see him watching me play, of course!"

The Ostapenko impact: Fearless, authentic and game-altering

Watch this: confusion reigns after gauff wins 'strangest' point at wimbledon, singing fan humorously hijacks raducanu's wimbledon interview.

The rapper's eager response? "Ima have to pull up."

Ima have to pull up @JelenaOstapenk8 🙏🏾 https://t.co/icnw8Q1oUr — Lil Wayne WEEZY F (@LilTunechi) July 3, 2024

He later dubbed the Latvian "a joy to watch" after her fourth round win over Yulia Putintseva.

It might be a surprise to see the Grammy-winning rhymer so plugged into the events of the tennis tour, but he has a history of enjoying the sport: The man they call 'Weezy' once accurately predicted both the men's and women's singles champions at the 2010 US Open (in a letter sent to Sports Illustrated  from his prison cell, no less) and once sampled Elena Dementieva's signature grunt into his 2006 track "Sportscenter."

But if you ask Ostapenko, there's a reason why her brand of tennis resonates with fans, whether famous or not. (Actor Steve Carell, on a tour of the All England Club with Laura Robson before the tournament also dubbed the Latvian one of his and his wife's favorite players.)

Steve and his wife Nancy told me they love watching Ostapenko 🫶🏼 we love them https://t.co/MKcRCcYWf7 — Laura Robson (@laurarobson5) June 28, 2024

“I think a lot of people really like that I’m kind of emotional,” she said. “Of course, sometimes I can go too much, but that’s my personality. I’m working on using emotions in the right way, to also help me on the court.

“But I feel like … I’m kind of fun to watch for a lot of fans!”

Ostapenko is through to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon for the third time, and will face another former French Open winner, Barbora Krejcikova, on Wednesday for a spot in the semifinals.
