- Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL)
- Advising the Division Director and the Center, as well as the scientific community, on all issues related to testing for illicit drugs and prescription drugs. Keeping abreast of all developments in program areas related to drug testing and prescription drug use by evaluating relevant research projects and reviewing professional and scientific publications. Providing recommendations for advancing programs and or methodologies.
- Monitoring the complete portfolio of drug testing activities that support the entire Federal Drug Free Workplace Program.
- Providing national leadership, guidance, and policy direction in substance abuse detection, deterrence, and prevention programs and participating in assessing, determining, and planning new initiatives in these areas, specifically around prescription drug use and abuse.
- Reviewing and summarizing findings for inclusion in reports to the Division, Center, Agency, and other branches of Government.
- Presenting at various conferences on SAMHSA's programs as well as trends and data of the prescription drug abuse problem. Attending and making presentations at conferences and meetings relevant to drug testing, prescription drug use and abuse, and research.
- Working directly with Federal officials, state, and local representatives, and the Drug-Free Workplace community to solicit input to the Federal planning process. Providing technical assistance and guidance in implementing substance abuse prevention program objectives mandated by Congress, consistent with Departmental regulations and the Agency's policy.

Qualifications
- Providing technical guidance involving drug testing methodologies and alternative specimens for drug testing programs.
- Formulating, implementing and/or evaluating administrative policies and procedures for drug testing certification programs.
- Preparing written scientific briefing and/or reports regarding drug testing information.
- Develop and present briefings to stakeholders on findings or issues relevant to substance use prevention and initiatives.

In this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Facilities Management Division, Maintenance Branch team. MWEOC is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, DC.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with medium voltage distribution and proficiency in using software for arc flash hazard analysis and coordination studies.
