Calculate your uni grade

Our university grade calculator takes a percentage mark for each of your university courses (assignments or modules) or academic years, together with the percentage or credit weighting, and returns a weighted average for the parts you have completed so far.

How do I calculate my weighted university grade?

In order to work out your weighted average grade for your university year, module, or assignment, we take the marks (or grades) multiplied by their respective weights, sum them together, and then divide the total by the sum of the weights. An example is shown below, and the calculation is shown at the bottom of the results.

Example calculation

Student A is studying a degree in Computer Science and has undertaken three modules so far. They want to calculate their average weighted grade for the three modules.

MarkWeightModule
66%20 creditsData Analysis
55%10 creditsDatabases
71%10 creditsExperimental Design

Student A's average mark is therefore calculated at 64.5%.

Unweighted calculations

If you wish to carry out an unweighted calculation, simply leave all the weight boxes blank, or make them equal. If you want to work out the mark you require on your final exam, you can use our final grade calculator tool .

What mark do I need from the rest of my course?

Our calculator can help you work out the average mark you need from the remainder of your course, in order to achieve a target percentage, so that you can see whether you're on track to achieve the grade you want.

If you have any problems using our university grade calculator, please contact us .

GPA (Starting Point)

The starting point GPA is your grade point average from which you want to calculate a different or a projected GPA. For example, if calculating what your cumulative GPA will be including your current semester's grades, enter your cumulative GPA from your Unofficial Cumulative Grade Report . If computing a GPA for one semester only, or if you do not have a GPA, enter 0.00. See Suggested Uses above for other ideas for using the GPA Calculator.

Graded Hours

Graded Hours is the total number of hours reflected in your starting point GPA. Hours for which you received an F and have not repeated the course must be included.

This is the letter grade (followed by grade points awarded) for a particular class.

Number of Credits

The Number of Credits is the number of credit hours of a particular grade predicted. For example:

You have 3 classes:

  • Principles of Chemistry - 4 Credit Hours
  • Macro Economics - 3 Credit Hours
  • UNI Singers - 1 Credit Hour

If you expect to earn a B in Principles of Chemistry and UNI Singers, you place a 5 in the B field, or a 4 + 1 in the B field to allow the computer to do the addition. This represents 4 Credits of B for Principles of Chemistry and 1 Credit of B for UNI Singers, for a total of 5 credits of B. If you expect a C in Macro Economics, place a 3 in the C field.

Calculate your module or degree grades.

Important Notes

Our Final Exam Grade Calculator calculates the final exam grade you would need to get a desired overall course grade and would require you to input your current course percentage grade as well as the weight of the final as a percentage. If you do not know your current grade, you would need to select "no" on the question "Do you know your Current Grade?" and then input the grades you received for your assignments, tests, homework, labs, etc. as well as the weight as a percentage of each. Our grade calculator automatically calculates your current grade as well as the grade needed on the final exam to get your desired overall course grade! Not only that but the minimum and maximum course overall course grades are also calculated. Furthermore, a table and chart of the different possible final exam grades and their corresponding overall course grades are also generated, all automatically.

Inputting Data in our Final Exam Calculator

When inputting your Current Grade and the Weight of the Final, our calculator automatically assumes that your current grade is based is based on weight of your course prior to the final exam and is calculated as 100% minus the inputted weight of the final. If your current grade does not account for all the course work (assignments, labs, tests, homework, etc.) prior to your final exam then the calculator results will not be accurate for you.

Similarly, if you don’t know your Current Grade and you input your course work and corresponding grades and weights into our calculator, the calculator automatically calculates your current grade as well as the Weight of the Final. In this case the weight of the final is simply calculated as 100% minus the Sum of the Weights of your course work. Thus if you inputted too many or too little assignments, tests, etc. then the Weight of the Final calculated may not match the actual weight of the final in your course.

Semester Grade Calculator: An Useful Tool For Calculating Semester Grade

Semester Grade Calculator: An Useful Tool For Calculating Semester Grade

You are probably seeking calculators that are easy to use and informative, quotient the right answers, and even calibrate specific evolutions or aren’t averages for various grading scales and the capacity to adapt different types of assignments (e. g. handouts, worksheets; online exercises, quizzes; homework assignments, projects, tests, etc.). I am sure that you need an instrument to facilitate and clarify the calculation of semester grades and related subject progress.

How To Use Semester Grade Calculator

A semester grade calculator is easy to work with and it enables a learner to calculate the GPA for the current study period. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use it:

Step 1: Gather Your Information:

Provide a comprehensive list of all the courses that were undertaken in the semester. Record the grades you attained for each course. Be aware of the credit hours or units’ status for each of the courses.

Step 2: Enter Course Details:

So open the semester grade calculator. Track the entry of the names or codes of each course.

Enter the actual grade you got in each course. Grading an assignment on a calculator is achieved by entering letter grades (A, B, C, etc.) and the grades are automatically converted to corresponding grade points (e. g. , A=4. 0, B=3. 0).

Step 3: Input Credit Hours:

It then requires the number of credit hours (or units) for each course. This translates into the weight of the particular course in GPA computation.

Step 4: Calculate:

Once all the courses and corresponding grades and credit hours have been entered, the calculator will compute the semester GPA automatically.

Step 5: Review Results:

Refer to the calculated grade point average to see whether it meets the set goal.

How to Calculate Semester Grade

Calculating a semester grade involves four main steps. Let's look at a couple of examples to illustrate this process:

Imagine your grades are 75%, 80%, and 85% for each term, with corresponding weights of 0.3, 0.3, and 0.4 respectively:

Multiply your first term's grade by its weight:

75% × 0.3 = 22.5%

Multiply your second term's grade by its weight:

80% × 0.3 = 24%

Multiply your final term's grade by its weight:

85% × 0.4 = 34%

Sum these values to get your semester grade:

Semester grade = 22.5% + 24% + 34% = 80.5%

Suppose your grades are 90%, 85%, and 95% for each term, and the weights are 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5:

90% × 0.2 = 18%

85% × 0.3 = 25.5%

95% × 0.5 = 47.5%

Sum these values to calculate your semester grade:

Semester grade = 18% + 25.5% + 47.5% = 91%

Features Of A Semester Grade Calculator

The first outstanding feature of the semester grade calculator is its user-friendly interface. With simplicity and clear navigation, users can easily use this calculator by entering the inputs and calculating the output, as well as resetting and recalculating the semester grade.

The second feature is that the semester grade calculator provides customizable options for different grading scales. No matter if you are using the 4.0 or 5.0 scale, this calculator allows you to calculate your grade accurately.

The third characteristic is the ability to input various types of assignments. Students can enter the quizzes, homework, projects, and exams and the corresponding point earned to calculate the final result.

GPA Calculator

Use this college GPA calculator to easily calculate the cumulative grade point average (GPA) for a given semester. Enter letter grades (A, B-, C+, etc.) achieved on all relevant courses, as well as the credits for each course. The GPA is then weighted based on the number of credits.

Do P/NP (Pass/No Pass) courses get factored in GPA?

Do incompletes (i) or withdrawals (w) receive grade points, how are advanced placement or honors courses counted,     how to calculate your gpa.

With the help of this GPA calculator you can calculate your GPA weighted by the number of credits for each course. This is often referred to as CGPA which may stand for "cumulative GPA" or "college GPA". GPA itself stands for Grade Point Average. The software will also compute the sum total of credits from all courses.

To use the calculator, enter the number of courses you have completed (or intend to complete) and then for each course enter the letter grade or expected grade as well as the number of credits it contributes. The overall GPA is weighted based on the number of credits. This means that if you have special courses which are weighted more heavily, you can alter the number of credits to get an exact calculation. For example, if a course has double the weight, just double its credits. Likewise, if it only weighs half as much as other courses, slash the number of credits in half.

gpa calculator example

For example, say there are four college courses, two of which are worth 3 credits and two are worth 4 credits. Additionally, one of the latter is considered a special course worth 1.5 times a regular course. If you had A-, B, A and B+ respectively, enter these grades and then enter the weights 3, 3, 4, 6 (4 x 1.5 = 6). This way the weighted GPA will correctly reflect the differential contribution of each course.

High school GPA vs college GPA

This calculator can be used for computing both high-school GPA and college GPA, as long as they use the same GPA scale. If you enter grade points directly, then it makes zero difference what kind of grade point average you are looking to get as it becomes a simple weighted average math, no conversion is involved.

How to convert a letter grade to points

Our GPA calculator uses the following table to convert letter grades to grade points for the purpose of computing their weighted average.

Letter grades to grade points conversion table
Letter gradeGrade points
A+ 4.3
A 4.0
A- 3.7
B+ 3.3
B 3.0
B- 2.7
C+ 2.3
C 2.0
C- 1.7
D+ 1.3
D 1.0
D- 0.7
E/F 0.0

If you know the grade points instead of the letter grades, it is preferable to enter them directly. This will ensure the best possible alignment with the GPA scale used by your educational institution.

    Frequently asked questions

Below are answer to the most common questions students have when calculating their GPA.

No, P/NP (Pass /No Pass) courses should not be factored in the calculation of a student’s grade point average. Such courses do not result in letter grades or grade points and hence cannot be used in the calculation.

No. Such do not receive grade points or letter grades and therefore have no effect on a student's weighted GPA.

Different educational institutions would have different rules for factoring these in. Some would add half a point or a whole point to the course grade, whereas others would adjust the credits for the course by a multiplier. You should contact the college or university you are interested in for information on this before using our tool.

The University of Melbourne continues to welcome students sponsored via sponsoring bodies including national government departments, provincial governments, private businesses, international and UN organisations such as the World Bank, national and private banks, aid agencies, universities. Sponsored students will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are encouraged to apply.

If you have previously studied at two institutions via a joint or dual degree program (where you have undertaken subjects in your degree at two or more universities) you will need to review the required scores for both institutions separately. Applicants with joint degrees are required to provide transcripts from study at all previous institutions when they apply.

Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM) is the University’s equity program for domestic graduate students. Under GAM, specific circumstances of applicants will be considered in relation to admission and bursaries. Students may gain admissions to programs below the published minimum score based on their GAM application.

Please note that submitting a GAM application does not guarantee selection. Whether or not you are awarded course admission, a commonwealth supported place (CSP), a bursary, or no consideration through GAM will depend on your individual, documented circumstances and also the strength of your GAM and course applications

Letter grade and the numerical equivalents used for this calculator

Grade point average (GPA) is a commonly used indicator of an individual's academic achievement in school. It is the average of the grades attained in each course, taking course credit into consideration. Grading systems vary in different countries, or even schools. This calculator accepts letter grades as well as numerical inputs. These letter grades are translated into numerical values as shown below.

Most schools, colleges, and universities in the United States use a grading system based on the letters above, though E is sometimes used instead of F. Grading systems do differ however based on what constitutes an A or B, and some do not include grades such as an A+ or a B-. Others may attribute more weight to certain courses, and thus whatever grade is attained in the course will have a larger effect on overall GPA. The calculator can account for this based on the number of credits attributed to a course, where credit is the "weighting" of the course, as shown in the examples below.

CourseCreditScoreGrade Points
Math4A+4 x 4.3 = 17.2

Guidelines for raising GPA

There is no sure formula for raising a person's GPA, and strategies that work for one person may not work for another. However, there are some common guidelines and study habits that can be helpful when trying to raise GPA. The guidelines below are mostly anecdotal and are not intended as fail-safe ways to raise one's GPA, but are generally good habits that can have positive effects on learning, which may in turn increase GPA.

Actively attending classes:

Classes are being paid for likely either by a student or their parent, and not attending classes is both a financial loss, as well as a loss in potential education. While a student may decide that attending a particular class is not beneficial to their learning, or not a good use of their time, even if the professor is largely ineffective, there is usually valuable information that can be obtained simply by attending class. Not attending class for example, could result in negative effects on a student's GPA if for some reason the student misses information about a change in exam location or material.

Furthermore, while it may be true that professors largely repeat notes in class that are often later posted to a website, skipping classes can result in missed opportunities. Questions from students in class, as well as the explanations that may follow can provide seemingly inconsequential bits of information that can in fact make a large difference on tests. This is because interaction with the professor and other students can increase a person's depth of knowledge on a subject, or may provide the small tip necessary to solidify a student's understanding of a topic.

In addition, attending class, particularly if the class is smaller in size, can allow the professor to link a name, a face, and a grade, particularly if the student actively participates. Professors that see attentive and involved students are more inclined to be understanding of any potential issues that may arise such as emergencies resulting in missed due dates. Along with this, active participation is more likely to engage a student's mind in regards to the subject matter than reading online notes or a textbook, and points of confusion can also be clarified on the spot. These can in turn affect a person's grade and overall GPA.

Every student has his or her own learning style. Some like to work for hours at a time to complete an assignment, while others may take many breaks. There is no ideal strategy, and how a person approaches learning is highly dependent on learning style, as well as adhering to a study strategy that complements their schedule and desires. The method that maximizes the value of the time spent is likely the most effective for improving learning, and subsequently, GPA.

Organization of work that needs to be done, as well as notes taken is also important. It is as important to be able to find relevant information as it is to take notes in class. Notes are most valuable when they can be used to supplement learning. Professors present large amounts of information during the course of a lecture, not all of which a student may have time to process. It is important to practice taking notes in a manner that enables the student to look back and learn (or lookup) the information.

Time management is also an important aspect of planning. There are only 24 hours in a day, not all of which a person can use effectively. While learning is important, taking more courses or activities than a person can handle can be detrimental both to learning, as well as to average GPA. Once all courses have been selected, budgeting and scheduling time for each course can help to put the amount of work and time necessary into perspective. While the amount of work necessary for a number of courses may initially seem daunting, planning how and when to approach the work for each course may help reduce stress and improve efficiency once the work is quantified (or could help a person realize that they are tackling more than they can handle).

Reviewing work regularly, in terms of studying, is another aspect of time management. A substantial amount of information is covered in a course by the time of the final exam, and reviewing some of the information regularly over a period of time is often more effective than attempting to memorize all of the information right before an exam. Learning the information through periodic review can ultimately save a person more time, and potentially position them to perform better on an exam, and thereby improve GPA.

STAMFORD, Conn., and ST ANDREWS, Scotland  – NBC Sports and St. Andrews Link Trust revealed their field for the 2024 St. Andrews Links Collegiate, presented by TopGolf and World Wide Technology, where Howard University men’s and women’s golf teams were among the selected participants. The announcement came on July 9. Howard will be the only HBCU participating in this year’s event.   The three-day tourney (Oct. 14-16) is set to take place in St. Andrews, Scotland, the birthplace of golf. NBC Sports will present live coverage on the GOLF Channel and Peacock in the U.S., while Sky Sports will provide coverage in the U.K.   The second annual event features men’s and women’s golf teams from four institutions with two days of stroke play on the Jubilee Course, followed by medal match play on the Old Course at St. Andrews.   “It’s an honour for us to host the second St Andrews Links Collegiate, delivered by our partners at NBC Sports, and we are delighted to have TopGolf and World Wide Technology on board to support this event, said Neil Coulson, Chief Executive of St Andrews Links Trust. “We are pleased these four iconic institutions have accepted the invitation to compete and offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to their student-athletes. It will be a special occasion to watch the teams go head-to-head while featuring on live TV coverage and we look forward to welcoming them to the Home of Golf later this year.”

Joining the Bison of HBCU golf in this year’s field includes Arizona, Northwestern and host St. Andrews. This marks the first appearance in the event for all four universities.   “We are proud to partner with St Andrews Links Trust on the second annual collegiate tournament at the Home of Golf,” said Andrea Starkey, NBC Sports VP, Golf Partnerships and Rights Management. “The inaugural St Andrews Links Collegiate was a success for all involved and we’re excited to showcase four new men’s and women’s teams from the distinguished universities of the University of Arizona, Northwestern University, Howard University and the local University of St Andrews.”   Entering the season, the men’s team looks to repeat as Northeast Conference (NEC) Champions while the women’s squad continues its pursuit for an NEC title in spring 2025.

Most Johns Hopkins medical students will no longer pay fees thanks to a $1 billion gift

Most medical students at Johns Hopkins University will no longer pay tuition thanks to a $1 billion gift from Bloomberg Philanthropies announced Monday.

Starting in the fall, the donation will cover full tuition for medical students from families earning less than $300,000. Living expenses and fees will be covered for students from families who earn up to $175,000.

Bloomberg Philanthropies said that currently almost two-thirds of all students seeking a doctor of medicine degree from Johns Hopkins qualify for financial aid, and 45% of the current class will also receive living expenses. The school estimates that graduates’ average total loans will decrease from $104,000 currently to $60,279 by 2029.

Gilman Hall on the campus of Johns Hopkins University campus in Baltimore.

The gift will also increase financial aid for students at the university’s schools of nursing, public health, and other graduate schools.

“By reducing the financial barriers to these essential fields, we can free more students to pursue careers they’re passionate about — and enable them to serve more of the families and communities who need them the most,” Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies and Bloomberg LP, said in a statement on Monday.  Bloomberg  received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1964.

The gift will go to John Hopkins’ endowment and every penny will go directly to students, said Ron Daniels, president of Johns Hopkins University.

“Mike has really been moved by the challenges that the professions confronted during the course of the pandemic and the heroic efforts they’ve made to protecting and providing care to American citizens during the pandemic,” Daniels said in an interview. “I think he simply wanted to recognize the importance of these fields and provide this support to ensure that the best and brightest could attend medical school and the school of nursing and public health.”

Bloomberg Philanthropies previously gifted $1.8 billion to Johns Hopkins in 2018 to ensure that undergraduate students are accepted regardless of their family’s income.

Johns Hopkins will be the latest medical school to offer free tuition to most or all of their medical students.

In February  Ruth Gottesman , a former professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the widow of a Wall Street investor,  announced  that she was donating $1 billion to the school. The gift meant that four-year students immediately received free tuition and all other students will be offered free tuition in the fall.

In 2018, Kenneth and Elaine Langone gave $100 million to the NYU Grossman School of Medicine to make tuition free for all current and future medical students through an endowment fund. The couple gave a second gift of $200 million in 2023 to the NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine to guarantee free tuition for all medical students. Kenneth Langone is a co-founder of Home Depot.

Other medical schools, like UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, offer merit-based scholarships thanks to some $146 million in donations from the recording industry mogul, David Geffen. The Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine has also offered tuition-free education for medical students since 2008.

Candice Chen, associate professor, Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University, has researched the social missions of medical schools and had a strong reaction to the recent major gifts to John Hopkins, NYU and Albert Einstein.

“Collectively the medical schools right now, I hate to say this, but they’re failing in terms of producing primary care, mental health specialists as well as the doctors who will work in and serve in rural and underserved communities,” Chen said. She would have loved to see this gift go to Meharry Medical College in Tennessee, for example, which is a historically Black school that has produced many primary care doctors who work in communities that have shortages.

Bloomberg granted Meharry Medical College $34 million in 2020 as part of a $100 million gift he made to four Black medical schools to help reduce the debt of their medical students for four years.

There have been only a handful of previous $1 billion donations to universities in the U.S., most coming in the past several years.

In 2022, the venture capitalist John Doerr and his wife, Ann, gave  $1.1 billion to Stanford University  for a new school focusing on climate change.

The small liberal arts school McPherson College has received  two matching pledges  since 2022 from an anonymous donor totaling $1 billion. The school, which has around 800 enrolled students, has a program for automotive restoration and is located 57 miles north of Wichita, Kansas.

Bloomberg, the former New York mayor, gave  $3 billion to charities in 2023 , making him one of the largest donors, according to research by the Chronicle of Philanthropy.

Demand for cybersecurity professionals is projected to skyrocket to more than 30% globally

If you've been looking for a lucrative skill to learn and develop this year and expand or pivot your career, you've no doubt come across cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a high-income skill that is in major demand by organizations globally.

In fact, you would be hard pressed to find an industry or company that does not need cybersecurity specialists and professionals in some way or another. Demand for this work is projected to increase by 32% over the next few years according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is much faster than the average job growth rate, and the cybersecurity market is expected to grow by almost 8% worldwide according to analysts .

Additionally, thanks to its digital nature, many cybersecurity roles can be performed remotely, so you can work from home while making significant money in the cybersecurity industry, which is of course a huge bonus.

But you're most likely wondering, what is cybersecurity anyway and why is it important?

What Is Cybersecurity?

In layman's terms, cybersecurity-related professions are focused on protecting and securing an organization's systems from malware and attacks which can infringe on and comprise personal data and information, and potentially expose it to harm and major damages including theft and fraud.

Trump Assassination Attempt: Here’s What We Know

Apple iphone 16 pro design upgrade promises key feature boost, report says, the perseid meteor shower begins today: when to see it at its best.

Customers and stakeholders trust a company with their information, and cybersecurity protects this personal information, such as account data, passwords, and personal identifiers such as date of birth, bank details, and I.D. Cybersecurity roles revolve around stopping malicious attacks that come in the form of spyware, viruses, and other intruders that intercept networks, devices, and systems.

What Are Some Cybersecurity Jobs?

Some examples of popular cybersecurity jobs include:

  • Cybersecurity/information security analyst
  • Cybersecurity engineer
  • Cybersecurity architect
  • Penetration tester (ethical hacker)
  • Cybersecurity consultant (including freelance cybersecurity consultant)
  • Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
  • Incident responder
  • Cryptographer
  • Cybersecurity software developer
  • Vulnerability assessor
  • Forensic computer analyst
  • Network security administrator
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM) specialist
  • Compliance and risk analyst
  • Malware analyst

What Is The Average Salary Range For Cybersecurity Jobs?

While cybersecurity is generally a high-income skill to develop, as a subset of information security, the actual salaries for roles requiring this skill can vary significantly depending on the specific role and function that you choose, including seniority level.

For example, an ethical hacker's average salary in the U.S. is $110,184, while a consultant is $135,000; in sharp contrast, a CISO's makes $244,000 on average, according to Salary.com estimates.

Of course, the more certifications and niche skills you have, the greater chances you have to increase your salary, land promotions, and become highly sought after in your field.
