मोरिस एल. बिग्गी के अनुसार, "चिन्तन किसी विचार अथवा परिकल्पित ज्ञान का साक्ष्य के प्रकाश में सावधानीपूर्वक एवं आलोचनात्मक परीक्षण करना एवं उससे नये निष्कर्ष निकालना है।"

संक्षिप्त रूप में कहा जा सकता है कि चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम वस्तुतः समस्या समाधान अथवा अन्वेषण-उन्मुख शिक्षण अधिगम है। इसमें विद्यार्थी विषय-वस्तु की और मौलिक, कल्पनात्मक एवं आलोचनात्मक दृष्टिकोण से अग्रसर होता है और गम्भीर चिन्तन में संलग्न रहता है। वह तथ्यों और सामान्यीकरणवों का परीक्षण करता है और नये तथ्यों एवं सामान्यीकरणों का अन्वेषण करता है। स्मृति एवं बोध स्तर इस स्तर के पूर्वज हैं।

चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण का प्रतिमान (Model of Reflective Level of Teaching)

चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण प्रतिमान को प्रतिपादित करने का श्रेय हण्ट महोदय को है। इसीलिये इस शिक्षण प्रतिमान को ' हण्ट शिक्षण प्रतिमान ' (Hunt's Model of Teaching) की संज्ञा भी दी जाती है। हण्ट महोदय ने चिन्तन स्तर के प्रतिमान के प्रारूप का वर्णन अग्रलिखित सोपानों में किया है–

(1) उद्देश्य (Focus):- चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण के निम्नलिखित तीन उद्देश्य होते हैं-

• (i) विद्यार्थियों में समस्या समाधान की क्षमता विकसित करना।
• (ii) विद्यार्थियों में आलोचनात्मक तथा सर्जनात्मक (Constructive) चिन्तन विकसित करना।
• (iii) विद्यार्थियों की स्वतन्त्र तथा मौलिक चिन्तन शक्ति को विकसित करना।

(2) संरचना (Syntax):- चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण की संरचना का प्रारूप व्यक्तिगत तथा सामाजिक दोनो प्रकार की प्रकृति को दृष्टि में रखते हुये निम्नलिखित चार सोपानों में की जाती है-

• (i) पहले सोपान में शिक्षक विद्यार्थियों के सामने समस्यात्मक परिस्थिति उत्पन्न करता है।
• (ii) दूसरे सोपान में विद्यार्थी समाधान हेतु उपकल्पना बनाते हैं। स्मरण रहे कि एक समस्या के समाधान हेतु एक से अधिक उपकल्पनायें भी बनाई जा सकती है।
• (iii) तीसरे सोपान में विद्यार्थी उपकल्पनाओं की पुष्टि के लिये आवश्यक प्रदत्तों का संकलन करते हैं। इन प्रदत्तों के आधार पर यह निर्णय किया जाता है कि बनाई हुई उपकल्पना (Hypothesis) समस्या के समाधान में सहायता कर सकती है अथवा नहीं।
• (iv) चौथे सोपान में उसपकल्पना का परीक्षण किया जाता है। इस परीक्षा के आधार पर निर्णय निकाले जाते हैं, तो विद्यार्थियों के मौलिक विचार होते हैं।

(3) सामाजिक प्रणाली (Social System):– चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण में कक्षा का वातावरण पूर्ण रूप से स्वतन्त्र और खुला हुआ होता है। ऐसे वातावरण में शिक्षक का स्थान गौण होता है तथा विद्यार्थी का मुख्य। इस स्तर पर शिक्षक के तीन प्रमुख कार्य होते हैं—(अ) विद्यार्थियों के सामने समस्या उत्पन्न करना, (ब) शिक्षण के समय वाद-विवाद (Discussion) तथा सेमीनार (Seminar) आदि का प्रयोग करना तथा (स) विद्यार्थियों के आकांक्षा स्तर (Level of Aspiration) को ऊँचा उठाना। समस्या का समाधान करने के लिये सभी विद्यार्थी सक्रिय एवं संवेदनशील हो जाते हैं। अतः इस स्तर पर विद्यार्थियों की स्वतः प्रेरणा तथा सामाजिक प्रेरणा दोनों का विशेष महत्व है।

(4) मूल्यांकन प्रणाली (Support System):- चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण की निष्पत्तियों के लिये वस्तुनिष्ठ परीक्षा उपयोगी नहीं होती। विद्यार्थियों की क्षमताओं का उचित मूल्यांकन केवल निबन्धात्मक परीक्षाओं के द्वारा ठीक प्रकार से किया जा सकता है। चिन्तन स्तर की परीक्षा लेते समय (अ) विद्यार्थियों की अभिवृत्तियो तथा विश्वासों का मूल्यांकन करना चाहिये, (ब) उनकी अधिगम की क्रियाओं में तल्लीनता की जाँच करनी चाहिये तथा (स) इस बात का मूल्यांकन करना चाहिये कि विद्यार्थियों की आलोचनात्मक तथा सर्जनात्मक क्षमताओं का विकास कितना हुआ है।

चिन्तन स्तर शिक्षण अधिगम के गुण अथवा लाभ (Advantages of Reflective Level Teaching)

(1) विद्यार्थी-केन्द्रित दृष्टिकोण:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण-अधिगम सीखने सिखाने के प्रति विद्यार्थी केन्द्रित दृष्टिकोण को अपनाता है। इसमें विद्यार्थी स्वयं अपना लक्ष्य निर्धारित करता है और स्वयं ही लक्ष्य प्राप्ति का मार्ग खोजता है।

(2) मानसिक योग्यताओं का विकास:– चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण अधिगम का कार्य स्मृति एवं बोध स्तरों की अपेक्षा अधिक उच्च स्तर पर किया जाता है। यह बच्चों की मानसिक योग्यताओं, विशेषकर वे योग्यतायें जिनका सम्बन्ध उच्चतर बौद्धिक कार्यों से है, के उचित विकास में सहायता प्रदान करता है। यह विद्यार्थियों में सृजनात्मक, मौलिक एवं स्वतन्त्र चिन्तन को विकसित करता है।

(3) समस्याओं का समाधान:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम विद्यार्थियों को समस्या समाधान की योग्यताओं से सम्पन्न करता है और उन्हें स्कूल के अन्दर तथा स्कूल के बाहर सामने आने वाली समस्याओं का सामना करने का कौशल प्रदान करता है।

(4) विद्यालय के सभी विषयों के अनुकूल:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण-अधिगम स्कूल के सभी विषयों पर लागू किया जा सकता है।

(5) अधिकतम लचीलापन एवं स्वतन्त्रता:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण-अधिगम कोर्स के गठन, विधियों एवं प्रविधियों के निर्णय, संगठनात्मक व्यवस्था आदि में अधिकतम लचीलापन एवं स्वतन्त्रता प्रदान करता है। बिग्गी (Bigge) के कथनानुसार, “चिन्तर स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम कोर्स सामग्री के कठिन एवं कठोर गठन से मुक्ति प्रदान करता है, क्योंकि इसमें औपचारिक सामग्री की अपेक्षा ऐसी सामग्री का विकास होता है जो शिक्षक और विद्यार्थी के उत्तम सम्बन्ध से उत्पन्न होती है।

(6) उच्च योग्यताओं का विकास:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण-अधिगम विभिन्न तथ्यों, सिद्धान्तों, नियमों, अधिनियमों, प्रत्ययों एवं सामान्यीकरणों का बोध प्रदान करने के अतिरिक्त विद्यार्थियों में उन उच्च योग्यताओं का विकास भी करता है, जो नवीन सम्बन्धों के अन्वेषण तथा समस्या समाधान के नये दृष्टिकोणों के विकास में सहायक होती हैं।

(7) अन्वेषण-उन्मुख:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम अन्वेषण-उन्मुख, समस्या-केन्द्रित तथा सृजन-पोषित अधिगम में सहायक सिद्ध होता है। तीव्र गति से विकसित हो रहे वर्तमान युग में इन गुणों की अत्यधिक आवश्यकता है।

(8) प्रशिक्षण का स्थानान्तरण:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम, अधिगम के अधिकतम स्थानान्तरण को सम्भव बनाता है जबकि स्मृति एवं बोध स्तर पर इसका अभाव रहता है। अनुभूत समस्याओं की समाधान प्रक्रियाओं को जीवन की स्थितियों (शैक्षिक, व्यावसायिक अथवा वैयक्तिक) में स्थानान्तरित किया जा सकता है।

(9) जनतांत्रिक एवं उत्तेजनापूर्ण वातावरण:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम वातावरण को जनतांत्रिक, उत्तेजनापूर्ण, मैत्रीपूर्ण, स्वस्थ एवं सजीव बनाने में सहायता प्रदान करता है। ऐसा वातावरण स्व-अधिगम तथा शिक्षक एवं विद्यार्थियों में स्वतन्त्र एवं उपयोगी अन्तर्क्रिया को प्रेरित करता है। समस्या उत्पत्ति एवं समस्या समाधान का कार्य अत्यन्त विचारपूर्ण, उदार एवं जनतांत्रिक वातावरण में किया जाता है।

चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण अधिगम की सीमाएँ अथवा दोष (Limitations or Defects of Teaching-Learning at Reflective Level)

(1) छोटी कक्षाओं के अनुकूल नहीं:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण-अधिगम उच्चतर स्कूलों, कॉलेजों तथा विश्वविद्यालयों के परिपक्व विद्यार्थियों के अधिक अनुकूल है, क्योंकि इसमें वे बौद्धिक योग्यतायें अधिक विकसित रूप में प्रयुक्त होती हैं जिनकी समस्या समाधान एवं 'विचारशील-चिन्तन में आवश्यकता होती है। परन्तु छोटे बच्चों तथा छोटी कक्षाओं के विद्यार्थियों में इसका भली भाँति संचालन नहीं किया जा सकता, क्योंकि इसके प्रभावशाली कार्यान्वयन के लिए विकसित यौद्धिक योग्यताओं की आवश्यकता होती है।

(2) विधिवत् नहीं:- चिन्तन स्तर पर प्रस्तुत की जाने वाली स्थितियों तथा कोर्स-सामग्री संरचित नहीं होती। इसमें निश्चित कार्यक्रम का अनुसरण नहीं किया जाता। यह स्कूल के विषयों के संगठित ज्ञान की विधिवत् प्राप्ति में सहायक नहीं होता।

(3) मन्द एवं अधिक समय लेने वाला:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण-अधिगम मन्द एवं अधिक समय लेने वाला है। आजकल के पाठ्यक्रम तथा प्रशासन के परिणाम-उन्मुख दृष्टिकोण के कारण चिन्तन-स्तर के शिक्षण द्वारा प्रतिपादित गुणात्मक अधिगम को कोई महत्त्व नहीं दिया जाता।

(4) शिक्षकों पर उत्तरदायित्व का बोझ:- चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण अधिगम के स्कूल शिक्षकों पर उत्तरदायित्व का बोझ बढ़ सकता है। उन पर पहले से ही काफी बोझ है। इसके अतिरिक्त चिन्तन स्तर पर शिक्षण कार्य करना इतना सरल भी नहीं। इसके लिए विशिष्ट योग्यताओं, अनुभव तथा अभिरुचि की आवश्यकता होती है। इसके बिना इस प्रकार के शिक्षण में वांछित परिणाम प्राप्त नहीं किया जा सकता।

(5) भटक जाने की सम्भावना:- स्वतन्त्रता एवं लचीलेपन के कारण विद्यार्थियों के भटक जाने की सम्भावना बनी रहती है। परिपक्वता एवं अनुभव के अभाव में विद्यार्थी तथ्यों के अन्वेषण, असम्बन्धित प्रश्नों, जाँच-पड़ताल तथा तथ्यों एवं सिद्धान्तों के पुनः परीक्षण में अपना समय और अपनी शक्ति का अपव्यय कर सकते हैं। वे अपनी समस्याओं का गलत समाधान भी कर सकते हैं।

(6) पाठ्यक्रम एवं पाठ्य पुस्तक की सीमा नहीं:- चिन्तन स्तर का शिक्षण अधिगम पाठ्यक्रम एवं पाठ्य-पुस्तकों की सीमा में नहीं बाँधा जा सकता। यह समस्या केन्द्रित होता है। अतः वर्तमान परीक्षा केन्द्रित शिक्षा प्रणाली में इसका प्रयोग नहीं किया जा सकता।

(7) अपर्याप्त अनुकूलता:- चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण अधिगम की अनुकूलता के बड़े-बड़े दावे अवश्य किये जाते हैं, परन्तु वास्तविकता यह है कि इस प्रकार का शिक्षण-अधिगम केवल उन विषयों एवं प्रकरणों के अनुकूल है जिनमें अन्वेषण अथवा समस्या समाधान उपागम की आवश्यकता होती है।

चिन्तन स्तर शिक्षण की विशेषताएँ (Features of Reflective Level Teaching)

इस प्रकार के शिक्षण में ये विशेषताएँ पाई जाती हैं-

• चिन्तन स्तर के शिक्षण में स्मृति और अवबोध स्तर का शिक्षण सम्मिलित होता है।
• इस प्रकार के शिक्षण में विद्यार्थी अधिक सक्रिय होता है।

Of the many things that you have to do for good research, the first thing is to find the right sources for it. The broad criterion that you can set to find “good” sources is to look for the ones that are generally hailed as reliable and authoritative. Think of places like the New York Times website or Forbes. Since we’re talking about writing essays, however, some sources that you can consider using are as follows: 1. Google Scholar – a good place to find academic papers on various topics 2. ResearchGate – pretty much performs the same function as G Scholar 3. JSTOR – same thing once again And so on. If the situation demands the use of a difficult word, be sure to address and explain it for the ease of your reader(s). 3. Once you are done writing the draft of your essay, you should give it a couple of thorough reads and re-reads.
