You should pick a topic that you are knowledgeable in and believe in.

  • Never Eat Fast Food
  • Eat Healthy Breakfast
  • Dine In Instead of Eating Out
  • Eating Organic

1 Never Eat Fast Food

Persuade your audience to put down the fast food in exchange for healthier alternatives.

A persuasive speech on the harmful affects of fast food on your health should include a lot of facts. Use a variety of fast food chains for your examples and discuss the sodium, fat, sugar and calorie levels of those items in comparison to the recommended daily intake. Clips from the documentary "Super Size Me" can be used as visual aids throughout your speech. This documentary examines the effect of fast food on a person's health.

2 Eat Healthy Breakfast

Create samples to hand out to your audience.

A speech outlining why breakfast is the most important meal of the day can encourage your listeners to start their day off right. Consider constructing a chart comparing sugary cereals and high-fat breakfast meats to oatmeal, lean meats and egg substitutes. Include facts on how skipping breakfast or eating an unhealthy breakfast can affect your health. For instance, studies show that breakfast plays an important role in maintaining body weight.

3 Dine In Instead of Eating Out

Dining in creates an oppurtunity to prepare food with your children.

The benefits of dining in include saving money, healthier options, portion control, reduction of temptation and increased family time. However, in persuasive speeches it is important to show opposing opinions and counter those arguments. Construct your speech in an argument-reaction format, summing up why dining in is overall better than eating out at the end of your speech.

4 Eating Organic

This is a wide topic that can be broken down into sub-categories or separate speeches. Eating organic helps small farmers, is good for the earth and has many health benefits. If you choose to use all of these facts in your speech stay organized by using an outline. Consider creating a timeline following two food items such as organic beef versus processed beef, start from the birth of the animal, through raising, packaging and consumption. Using this as your guide will give you the opportunity to discuss all of the benefits of organic food.

You Are What You Eat: How to Prepare for Public Speaking

You Are What You Eat. How to Prepare for Public Speaking.

Public speaking continues to be one of the most common fears . If you too are nervous about the prospect, then you’ll want to do whatever you can to be as relaxed as possible before your next big speech. While practice is key, here’s something you may not have given as much thought to: so too is a good diet. It’s true – the food you consume the night before and the morning of your presentation can make a major difference in how nervous, sluggish, motivated, or excited you will be when the big moment approaches.

To help you out, we have composed this guide of the best and worst foods to consume before your next speech so you can be on top of your game and make a great impression.

Calming Your Nerves

One of the biggest reasons you may be afraid to give a big speech is that you know how nervous you get in front of crowds. Before even turning to food, it is important to remember that even though you think you are very shaky up there behind the podium, the chances are good that the audience can’t tell. Also, practicing your speech in front of a mirror can also give you confidence because you can see your movements in real-time and revise as necessary

But let’s take a look at your diet and how to avoid food products that can make you feel more nervous than you already are:

Drinking too much coffee can have a major impact on your nerves.

Drinking too much coffee can have a major impact on your nerves. It is wise to drink very little coffee the night before and no coffee at all on the morning of your presentation. The reason is that the active ingredient in coffee is caffeine, which blocks the chemicals in your brain that make you feel tired, and because of this, your nervous system is triggered and you become flooded with adrenaline. This stimulative process can make you shaky and drastically increase your heart rate.

You should also avoid the urge to drink alcohol to “take the edge off” your nerves. Rather than calming your nerves, alcoholic beverages can negatively affect your breathing, speaking, and worst of all, your memory, which you will need to recite your speech. Instead, try foods like almonds, which improve the functioning of your nerve endings, or salmon , which is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids that help to reduce stress.

Energy And Comfort

Once you get in touch with your body and calm your nerves a little, you will want to get comfortable while still retaining the right amount of energy so you can really drive your points home during your speech. Certain foods can make you feel sluggish and can impact your motivation to speak. For instance, avoid any fast food on the day of your speech as many of those meals include trans fats, which can make you feel sluggish and unmotivated . Consider opting for a vegetarian meal delivered to maintain vitality without compromising focus.

Energy And Comfort

Other foods that can make you feel sluggish include potato chips, artificially sweetened snacks, and chocolate, which, like coffee, will initially give you energy but will inevitably lead to a crash. Instead, go for foods that will give you the proper amount of good energy , like eggs, yogurt, and decaffeinated green tea. If you still feel tired, consider engaging in some light exercise like riding an exercise bike to give you the natural energy that will leave you feeling great.

Making the right preparations to be comfortable for your speech is especially important if you are having to deal with a medical condition like GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Symptoms of GERD can include chest pains, heartburn, and nausea, and you don’t want to experience any of those during your speech. To reduce the effects of GERD and similar conditions, make changes to your lifestyle before and leading up to the presentation, including eating smaller meals and refraining from smoking or consuming alcohol.

Food Can Affect Your Voice

Finally, the food you eat can also affect the strength and clarity of your voice, which is essential if you want to make a positive impression during your big talk. An unhealthy diet leading up to your speech can negatively affect your voice, with coffee and citrus being major culprits, as they can both dry out your throat. Also, be cautious with granola bars, as they can irritate your throat, and soda, which can aggravate your vocal cords.

The way your voice sounds can also be affected by the amount of phlegm you have in your throat. While mucus is essential for swallowing, too much phlegm will irritate your vocal cords and create the need to constantly clear your throat. Several foods are known for being responsible for excess phlegm, especially dairy products, which contain molecules that stimulate phlegm production. Alcohol is, once again, a bad idea because it triggers the blood vessels in your nose which can increase blood flow and lead to congestion.

Food Can Affect Your Voice

If you are having a problem with phlegm, then try food that reduces these effects. Start with apples because they contain a substance called pectin that promotes the movement of saliva. You should also drink water before your speech because it will keep you hydrated and also help to improve your concentration and comfort. Bring a bottle of water up on stage with you and don’t be frightened to take a sip whenever you need it. Your audience will wait.

As you can see, while you may be nervous about your big presentation, a healthy diet can help put you more at ease. Eat right today and give an amazing speech tomorrow.

Speech on Healthy Food for Children & Students

June 1, 2018 by Study Mentor 2 Comments

A very good morning to every one present here. Today, I am going to deliver a speech on a topic which holds special significance in our lives and is of utmost relevance in this day and age.

In this age of global race for success and excellence, health often tends to take the back seat. We tend to neglect our health because it has no instant effect on our daily lives. Long hours are spent at offices and schools and colleges only sitting on the chair and drooling on tables.

And the only other activity that we do is to consume unhealthy foods. Be it our lunch or snack that we consume outside the house, it is usually something that has been fried in bad oils or contains lots of unhealthy saturated fats like butter or cheese.

That is why I myself have taken up a healthy stand in my diet and therefore I tend to eat only healthy foods, as much as the situation permits at least. Out of these, the food that I prefer most is the fruit salad. It is a food of unique importance and taste.

First of all, it is available all throughout the year and can be made with any seasonal fruits available in the season. Secondly, the amount of fruits and nutrients that it offers is unparalleled by any other kind of food.

Another positive point of a fruit salad is that fruits contain a tremendous amount of natural fibers, both soluble and insoluble. Fibers play a very critical role in the convenient movement of waste products in the large intestine. It prevents problems like constipation and regulates a healthy bowel routine.

Another important advantage of having fibers in our diet is that it absorbs the bile secretions which induce production of cholesterol in the body. Cholesterol is an extremely dangerous compound that is produced in the body in small quantities and may also be consumed from unhealthy and fried foods.

India is the country which has the highest number of heart diseases as well as many other diseases like type-2 diabetes. These diseases have often been referred by doctors as lifestyle based diseases. This is because these diseases occur as a result of leading an unhealthy and sedentary routine.

We tend to eat fast food and then sit either in office or on the couch all day and just kill ourselves slowly a bit every day. Doing such simple things like replacing a meal in a day with a fruit salad can translate into a tremendous amount of health benefits for our body.

The flavonoids and stimulants contained in fruits combat the free radicals in our body and prevent the process of ageing and also improves insulin sensitivity which help to prevent the occurrence of type-2 diabetes.

Lifestyle based diseases can easily be prevented but once they occur, they stay for a lifetime and ruin our happiness. Eating fried foods leads to accumulation of fat within the arteries thus leading to episodes of thromboembolic events like angina and heart attacks.

Many of us, as a result of binge eating, have developed a gluttony attitude towards food. We tend to eat more than we need to. It is an unfortunate reality of the modern developed world that food, no longer, has to be hunted and is easily available.

Because of this easy availability of food, we tend to binge eat almost at each meal of the day to fill up ourselves to the brim. This is a very poisonous habit.

However, eating a fruit salad can satisfy that mental desire of being full, without burdening us with the guilt of extra calories. Fruits are composed of mostly water and due to this fact, they are extremely filling.

They tend to expand once they enter the digestive system, thus inducing the production of a hormone called ghrelin that signals the brain that the stomach is full and no longer needs more food.

Energy is what we eat food for. Fruits are loaded with tremendous amounts of instant energy. They contain a huge amount of glucose which can readily be used up by the cells which need to be replenished with energy. Thus they provide us with instant energy removing our tiredness.

Having a bowl of fruit as a snack can aptly serve this purpose. Many times, when we need energy, we tend to go for sweet sugary drinks like red bull, coke, or such others.

Instead if we be aware and make a good choice eating fruits instead, we will not only be provided with energy but also be enriched with vitamins and mineral that are needed for the swift functioning of the human body.

Have you tried the chocolate cake? It’s really good!

If something tastes better than you expected, you could use the word wow to express your surprise. If you say something tastes amazing , you’re saying it tastes even better than great  or really good .

Wow , this pasta salad is amazing!

This is an informal way of saying something tastes good. If you find something to be delicious, you could simply say “Yummy!” or you could expand it into a sentence.

This cheesecake is really yummy . I’m going for another slice.

This is a great adjective for describing food that’s full of flavor or that has a delicious quality in its taste and smell.

I love how flavorful this soup is with all the fresh herbs and vegetables in it.

This is the perfect adjective to describe something that’s so delicious and flavorful, it’s actually making your mouth water.

His mom makes such mouth-watering cakes that I just can’t wait to go over to his house tonight.

There may be times when you don’t really like the taste of a certain food. But you probably can’t just shout “Yuck!” (an informal English word meaning something tastes or smells bad) without offending the cook or your hosts.

So how can you express that without sounding impolite?

This is a polite way to explain that you don’t like the food, without blaming the cook. It’s just not right for you.

Better yet if you can throw in a compliment first!

This cake is so moist! It’s just too sweet for my taste .

Use this expression to say that you’d like the food better if the flavors were different.

This chicken is too spicy. It could use a little less chili sauce.

If something tastes new or unfamiliar, you could politely name some other food that you’d prefer or like better.

This tiramisu tastes different. I think I prefer the chocolate cake.

If you’re a vegetarian,  your diet would include only vegetables, fruits and non-meat items such as tofu, nuts, etc.

I’ve been a vegetarian for a year and I don’t even miss eating meat at all.

A vegan  is similar to a vegetarian, however, a vegan would not eat dairy or any product from animals, like honey.

Every week, my friend and I try a new vegan recipe.

A flexitarian does incorporate some meat into their diet, so their diet is flexible . Meat is limited, rather than excluded entirely from their diet.

While my best friend is a flexitarian , she will always choose a vegetarian option when we eat out.

If you’re trying to lose weight, it means you’re trying to become thinner.

I usually just have a salad for lunch because I’m trying to lose weight .

The word carb is short for carbohydrate . A low-carb diet  involves eating less carbohydrate-rich foods such as bread, pancakes and cookies.

That strawberry muffin looks tempting, but I’m on a low-carb diet .

Most people simply try to keep a balanced diet, which includes eating from each of the main food groups like grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy and meat.

To stay healthy, I go to the gym, cycle to work and eat a balanced diet .

This is one of the most common questions that people ask one another and it’s always interesting to hear everyone’s answers.

Fast food  is served very quickly over the counter at restaurants such as McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A. It’s usually a meal with hamburgers or sandwiches, French fries and soda.

a speech on food

When I’m busy with school, I usually end up eating fast food .

A home-cooked meal  is what many of us would like to have waiting for us when we get home from school or work. This is a fresh meal that’s made and eaten at home.

Whenever I get home early from work, I make myself a nice home-cooked meal .

A one-pot meal means exactly what it says. You cook all of your ingredients  (food items) like meat and vegetables in one pot and you’re ready to eat.

If I’m too tired to cook, I just make a quick and easy one-pot meal .

If you’re in a rush or you want an easier meal, you might decide to eat a microwave meal —this is a pre-made meal that is cooked in the microwave.

Before he learned to cook, he used to always buy microwave meals from the grocery store.

Dessert  is a sweet dish, like pastry or ice cream, that’s served and eaten at the end of a meal.

My grandma makes amazing cookies, cakes and pies. I always look forward to  dessert when I go to her house.

Do you enjoy eating sweet food very much? Well then, you must have a sweet tooth  for sure.

I’ll admit I have a sweet tooth because I can never say no to cakes, pastries and ice cream.

Here’s an easy one. To eat healthy  simply means choosing to eat food that’s good for your health.

No matter how busy I am, I try to eat healthy and exercise every day.

Fried chicken is made by cooking the meat in hot oil. Often the fried chicken we get at restaurants is actually deep-fried .

So what’s the difference between frying and deep-frying? Well, deep-frying uses a lot more oil than frying. Most times, people just say  fried chicken when referring to  deep-fried chicken  because the word is shorter and easier to say.

I can’t think of anything I like better than fried chicken, can you?

Grilled  chicken is made by cooking the meat directly on a heated grill.

I think I’ll invite my friends over for some grilled chicken this weekend.

Roast chicken usually refers to chicken that is cooked (or roasted) in the oven.

After talking to my family, we decided to surprise my grandpa for Father’s Day with roast chicken as it’s his favorite meal.

If you deep-fry your chicken well, it’ll be crunchy , which means it’ll make a crunching, cracking sound when you bite and chew on it.

That fried chicken I had for lunch was so crunchy and yummy. I just can’t stop thinking about it.

Scrambled  eggs are made by stirring and mixing them together while cooking.

I usually make  scrambled eggs for breakfast because they’re so easy.

Poached  eggs are made by partially cooking the egg in simmering water. When it’s served, the egg whites will be soft and you’ll be able to see the whole yolk.

I’ve never had a poached egg but I’d sure like to try it.

Sunny-side up  refers to an egg that’s been fried on only one side. Its name comes from the fact that the yolk sits whole in the middle of the fried egg, making it look like the sun.

The only way my son will eat eggs is if I make them  sunny-side up . He likes to see the yellow yolk!

Boiled eggs are eggs that have been cooked in very hot (boiling) water.

On the weekend, I usually have a boiled egg for breakfast with toast and orange juice.

I’ll answer that question with another question: why are people always talking about food ?

The answer is easy: Food is universal . Everybody has to eat! It’s as simple as that. So people want to find tasty, healthy food, the best places to eat, etc. It’s no wonder that everybody’s talking about food.

In fact, The Daily Meal even claims that just talking about food might make you healthier .

In  HuffPost , award-winning chef Marcus Samuelsson talks about how food cuts across cultures . Every culture in every country has its own cuisine (style of cooking) and this is what makes travel so fascinating .

You not only get to enjoy the sights and sounds, but you also know there are always new and exciting food adventures waiting for you.

Speech on Food Waste

Food waste is a big problem that affects us all. It’s when we throw away food that could have been eaten. You might not realize it, but you’re part of this issue too. It’s time to understand the seriousness of food waste and its impact on our planet.

1-minute Speech on Food Waste

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Imagine a mountain of food, piled high with all your favorites. Now imagine half of that mountain, just thrown away, not eaten by anyone. It’s hard to believe, but that’s what we’re doing every day. We waste nearly half of all the food we produce.

But it’s not just about wasted resources. When food is thrown away, it often ends up in landfills. There, it breaks down and creates harmful gases that hurt our planet. It’s like we’re poking holes in our own umbrella, letting the rain in.

So, what can we do? It’s simple. We can start by not buying more food than we need. We can also learn to use leftovers in creative ways, turning yesterday’s meal into today’s snack. And finally, we can compost our food scraps, turning waste into something that helps plants grow.

Let’s make a promise today. Let’s respect our food, our resources, and our planet. Let’s say no to food waste. Thank you.

2-minute Speech on Food Waste

We are here today to talk about a subject that affects us all – food waste. It’s a problem that’s closer to home than we think, and it’s time we paid attention.

Imagine you’re at a grocery store. You fill your cart with fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, milk, and other food items. But when you get home, you throw away half of what you bought. Sounds crazy, right? But that’s exactly what we’re doing on a wider scale. We waste nearly one-third of all food produced worldwide. That’s enough to feed all the hungry people on our planet – four times over!

Food waste is not just about wasting food. It’s also about wasting resources. Think about it. When we throw away an apple, we’re not just throwing away an apple. We’re throwing away the water, the soil, the energy, and the labor that went into growing that apple.

But there’s good news. We can all do something about it. We can start by buying only what we need. We can learn to store food properly, so it lasts longer. We can learn to use leftovers creatively, so nothing goes to waste. And when we do have waste, we can compost it, turning it back into fertile soil.

Schools can play a big role too. They can educate children about the value of food. They can teach them about the resources that go into producing it. And they can show them how to reduce, reuse, and recycle food waste.

In conclusion, food waste is a big problem, but it’s a problem we can solve. It starts with each of us, in our homes, schools, and workplaces. It starts with understanding the value of food and the resources that go into producing it. And it starts with taking action to reduce, reuse, and recycle our food waste.

No (sigh) Biden didn't fall asleep during debate | Fact check

The claim: Biden fell asleep during debate

A June 27 Facebook post ( direct link , archive link ) shows video of a man on a gold throne speaking to the camera about the presidential debate beneath a split image of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

“Joe Biden Fell Asleep On The PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE Against Donald Trump On Live TV,” reads the post’s caption.

The video was shared more than 700 times in less than a day and circulated widely on Instagram .

More from the Fact-Check Team: How we pick and research claims | Email newsletter | Facebook page

Our rating: False

At no point during the roughly 90-minute debate did Biden fall asleep. The video includes old clips of Biden with his eyes closed.

Video uses old clips of Biden with eyes closed

Biden and Trump spent about 90 minutes trading policy plans, attacks and falsehoods June 27 during the first debate to pit a sitting president against one of his predecessors. One of the main takeaways centered around the 81-year-old Biden 's struggle to ease concerns about what is perceived as a key liability – his age and acuity.

But at no point did Biden fall asleep during the debate, as the post claims. The Facebook user provided no evidence to support the claim, and no footage aired during the CNN broadcast shows the president dozing off.

Fact check : Presidential debate fact check: What Trump, Biden got right (and wrong)

The four-minute video in the post includes three separate clips of Biden having his eyes closed for longer than a blink. But none show him against the debate backdrop or wearing the same clothes he wore during the event – a navy suit with a light blue tie and an American flag pin on his left lapel.

One clip – which repeats in the video – is from 2011, when the then-vice president was seen closing his eyes during President Barack Obama’s speech on deficit reduction .

Another, which also appears twice, matches a GIF that dates to at least 2020 and shows Biden closing his eyes and beginning to shake his head. The clip cuts away just as his first head movement begins.

A third matches a GIF of Biden closing and then opening his eyes and looking up behind Obama while he delivered the State of the Union in 2014.

Biden’s acuity has been the subject of misinformation on social media. USA TODAY has debunked false claims that  Biden agreed to resign if he fails a cognitive test  and that  he was declared “mentally unfit” to stand trial .

USA TODAY reached out to the Facebook user who shared the video but did not immediately receive a response.

English Summary

2 Minute Speech On Food In English

Good morning everyone present here, today I am going to give a speech on food. We are all living creatures, and in order to survive, we require something that will nourish our bodies completely and keep them strong and healthy. We can only survive in good health if we eat. Respected teachers and other pupils, good morning. I’m here today to give a speech about eating.

Junk food is either produced with unclean ingredients or stored for a long time. We should constantly consume home-cooked meals that are made with the greatest ingredients and are prepared with care. Green leafy vegetables, fruits, milk, and dairy products should all be consumed. Our body parts will begin to malfunction or become easily injured if we start relying on junk food.

Last but not least, I’d like to mention that food should not be wasted. I sincerely hope that everyone will live by these rules. Thank you for taking the time to hear what I have to say. Thank you.

An ex-con rapper who’s worked with everyone from Lil Wayne to Gucci Mane has been ordered to submit his future songs to a judge before release to make sure they match his “goals of rehabilitation.”

BG, a k a Christopher Dorsey, of Louisiana, was arrested in March after performing in Las Vegas with rapper Boosie, also a convicted felon, the Guardian reported .

Prosecutors said BG’s appearance violated the 43-year-old “Bling Bling’’ rapper’s terms of supervised release on previous gun charges because he is supposed to “refrain from … associating unnecessarily with’’ felons.

Rapper BG, a k a Christopher Dorsey

BG, short for “Baby Gangsta,’’ also shouldn’t have been publicly espousing lyrics touting two men who are serving life behind bars for several murders in a drug- and gang-tied case because they are “inconsistent with the goals of rehabilitation,” the prosecutors said, according to the outlet.

The hip-hopper — who was a teen when he started recording with Cash Money Records’ Hot Boys group along with rappers Wayne and Juvenile — was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2012 after being caught with three guns in his car, two of which were stolen.

Since getting out of prison last year, he recorded the album “Choppers & Bricks” with Grammy nominee Mane, also an ex-con felon.

Federal Judge Susie Morgan issued Friday’s order forcing BG to submit future lyrics to her after ruling that prosecutors had “legitimate’’ concerns about him falling off the rehabilitation route.

Judge Susie Morgan

The rapper’s lawyers had argued that the move constituted “unconstitutional prior restraint of free speech.”

The judge also said the hip-hopper has to request to work with felons before he does so.

BG has about another year and a half of supervised release stemming from the gun conviction.

Heavy censorship of Usher's speech at the 2024 BET Awards caused by 'audio malfunction'

Usher's acceptance speech was heartfelt, occasionally profane and lengthy – and few people got to hear it.

Usher's acceptance speech of the BET Awards' lifetime achievement award was heartfelt, occasionally profane and lengthy  – and few people got to hear it.

The 13-minute speech was largely censored by the network, leaving viewers at home curious to know what Usher said. A BET spokesperson told The Associated Press that “due to an audio malfunction during the live telecast, portions of his speech were inadvertently muted. We extend our sincere apologies to Usher as we couldn’t be more grateful for his participation."

A full version of the speech is now available on BET's YouTube channel , with a few profanities removed. Much of his speech centered on the idea of fatherhood, forgiveness, and his three-decades' long career. It appears that the heavy censoring started shortly after Usher said “Sorry, I'm gonna curse and let you know how I really feel" early on in his acceptance.

He recounted walking into music mogul LA Reid's office at 12 or 13 years old and telling a room full of executives that he'd make it. “That wasn't ego speaking. I rebranded that word that day,” he said in a section of the speech that didn't air.

“I expressed goals out loud.”
