Editor’s Note: We know that many of you are looking for help writing travel experience essays for school or simply writing about a trip for your friends or family. To inspire you and help you write your next trip essay—whether it’s an essay about a trip with family or simply a way to remember your best trip ever (so far)—we enlisted the help of Professor Kathleen Boardman, whose decades of teaching have helped many college students learn the fine art of autobiography and life writing. Here’s advice on how to turn a simple “my best trip” essay into a story that will inspire others to explore the world.

Welcome home! Now that you’re back from your trip, you’d like to share it with others in a travel essay. You’re a good writer and a good editor of your work, but you’ve never tried travel writing before. As your potential reader, I have some advice and some requests for you as you write your travel experience essay.

Trip Essays: What to Avoid

Please don’t tell me everything about your trip. I don’t want to know your travel schedule or the names of all the castles or restaurants you visited. I don’t care about the plane trip that got you there (unless, of course, that trip is the story).

I have a friend who, when I return from a trip, never asks me, “How was your trip?” She knows that I would give her a long, rambling answer: “… and then … and then … and then.” So instead, she says, “Tell me about one thing that really stood out for you.” That’s what I’d like you to do in this travel essay you’re writing.

The Power of Compelling Scenes

One or two “snapshots” are enough—but make them great. Many good writers jump right into the middle of their account with a vivid written “snapshot” of an important scene. Then, having aroused their readers’ interest or curiosity, they fill in the story or background. I think this technique works great for travel writing; at least, I would rather enjoy a vivid snapshot than read through a day-to-day summary of somebody’s travel journal.

Write About a Trip Using Vivid Descriptions

Take your time. Tell a story. So what if you saw things that were “incredible,” did things that were “amazing,” observed actions that you thought “weird”? These words don’t mean anything to me unless you show me, in a story or a vivid description, the experience that made you want to use those adjectives.

I’d like to see the place, the people, or the journey through your eyes, not someone else’s. Please don’t rewrite someone else’s account of visiting the place. Please don’t try to imitate a travel guide or travelogue or someone’s blog or Facebook entry. You are not writing a real travel essay unless you are describing, as clearly and honestly as possible, yourself in the place you visited. What did you see, hear, taste, say? Don’t worry if your “take” on your experience doesn’t match what everyone else says about it. (I’ve already read what THEY have to say.)

The Importance of Self-Editing Your Trip Essay

Don’t give me your first draft to read. Instead, set it aside and then reread it. Reread it again. Where might I need more explanation? What parts of your account are likely to confuse me? (After all, I wasn’t there.) Where might you be wasting my time by repeating or rambling on about something you’ve already told me?

Make me feel, make me laugh, help me learn something. But don’t overdo it: Please don’t preach to me about broadening my horizons or understanding other cultures. Instead, let me in on your feelings, your change of heart and mind, even your fear and uncertainty, as you confronted something you’d never experienced before. If you can, surprise me with something I didn’t know or couldn’t have suspected.

You Can Do It: Turning Your Trip into a Great Travel Experience Essay

I hope you will take yourself seriously as a traveler and as a writer. Through what—and how—you write about just a small portion of your travel experience, show me that you are an interesting, thoughtful, observant person. I will come back to you, begging for more of your travel essays.

How To Write a Good Travel Essay - Guide with Examples

Introduction

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”

-Gustav Flaubert

Packing the duffel with the bare essentials and hopping into the car, getting behind the steering wheel and driving with no perfect destination in mind – we all dream to live such a life, don't we? Travelling to unseen places and exploring what it has to offer can be an enriching experience. However beautiful can travel be as an experience, writing a travelling essay can be quite a challenge. It may seem easy to come up with the ideas that you want to include in the essay but putting them into coherent sentences can be difficult. Your words should be impactful enough to be able to sweep the readers off their feet and take them on the cliff or make them feel the saline breeze on a beach.

A perfect travel essay must reflect the journey and highlight the little-known facts about the region. It should be infused with the character and culture of the place. If you are feeling stymied while writing a travel essay, then we have some brilliant tips for you that can make the task considerably easy for you.

8 tips for an outstanding essay on travelling

Here are 8 tips that you can cash on to produce a winning travelling essay:

  • Be specific with the destination

Before you choose a topic for your travel essay, keep the time spent in the location in mind. If your trip is just for a couple of days, then do not make the mistake of writing about an entire city. Think it out practically – is it possible to travel through a city in just a few days? Take for instance your essay is about London. It is quite an insurmountable task to be able to cover all the distance even in a week. So stick to a particular destination so that you can include the nuances and minutest details of the place to paint a picture in the reader’s mind with your words.

  • Less guide, more exploring

Also, the destination need not be about an exotic locale. It can be a story about an idyllic rustic location in the suburb of the teeming city. It can be about a cottage up on the hills with just the view of snowy valleys and iced peaks. Your words should give the sense of exploring and not touring. The essay should not be like a guide. It should be a view of the location through your lens.

  • Know the location like the back of your hand

Before starting to write a travel essay, do your research. A travel essay isn’t a made-up story so there should not be any fake information. Readers will be looking for more than just the necessary information about the must-visit tourist attractions. So you need to go beyond the surface and include more about the history of the place. Just do not write about the restaurants – talk about the cuisine of the place and the story behind it, if any. To get into the innermost recesses of the location, you can speak to the residents of the area. To bring richness in your travel essay, you must reveal another side of the destination.

  • Include the nitty-gritty

The key to an impressive travel essay is to be able to break down the location into kernels and write the core details about them. As mentioned earlier, so not just write about the tourist attractions and restaurants in the destination. Write about the lesser talked streets and unknown landmarks and the history behind them. If the place is known for its delicacies, write about how the cuisine has evolved and who had started it. From quaint bookstores to ice cream parlours to run-down shabby pubs – shed light to such nuances to bring your essay to life. You can even mention the negative things that you have faced in the place – like irregular transport modes or impolite locals. These little details will help you make your essay more impactful.

  • Be creative with the writing style

Since a travel essay is more like an anecdote, there is no specific format to write it. Therefore, a travel essay gives you the scope of setting your foot into the unchartered areas of creativity. You have got the creative freedom to write what you want. You can study how the natives of the locale speak and learn some of the basic words and phrases they use. To put them into writing you can read the local newspaper to get the pulse of the city you are in. Using the colloquial lingo can help the reader get a closer peek into the lives of the people living in the place. It will reflect a slice of how they live their way of life. Your words should be simple and yet impactful to portray and not just merely narrate. Touch every bit of the rust in the roof to make the reader feel like they are on the same journey with you.

  • Make it personal

The travel essay is your story. So add some personal experience in the story and at the same time do not make it self-indulgent. Include stories that can resonate with all your readers. Your experiences should be able to bring the reader back to the travel destination and connect him with the place. It should be the perfect blend of narration of the experiences you had while on the trip along with a vivid description of the place. To achieve the balance, write your essay in first person perspective to give a real touch to the story. Include the most interesting bits that will help the reader connect with you. You can even include the quotes of natives living in the area you had visited.

  • Start with a captivating catch

Like every essay, the introduction is the key to make it an impressive read. The opening should be capturing enough to attract the reader’s attention. It should leave an impact and should make them want to go on reading the piece. Start with an unknown fact about the place and leave it hanging from the cliff. Use a tone of suspense to excite the readers to keep them guessing about the contents of the essay.

  • Make it vivid with images

For certain places, words may fall short in being able to explain the exact description of a place. You cannot describe how the sky looked with the mountains seemingly touching the clouds or the horizon fading beyond the sea. Certain things cannot be explained in words – like the color of the sky or the water! This is where pictures come in! Providing real images of the place in between can help the readers stay connected. Vivid photos can also make the readers understand the story better by bringing them closer to it. So make sure you take breathtaking pictures of the place you are writing about. The images will help your essay stay in the readers’ mind longer.

With the above tips, we are sure you will be able to write an excellent travelling essay  that will impress your professor and fetch you a good grade.

And if you are still unsure about putting these to use, then below is a winning sample to show you how it is done!

Travelling essay sample

I have visited London several times, and yet it is amazing how I find something new to explore every time I visit the capital city. My visit last autumn too did not fail to surprise me. With the hustle and bustle and the rich royal history, London city has a lot to offer. Since I just had a few days to spare, I wanted to make the best out of this trip.

Although vast and sprawling, I decided to visit most of the city on foot this time. Now since in my previous visits I had seen most of the tourist-y attractions already, I wanted to take the path less travelled this time to discover the hidden gems of the city. The last time I had been to London, I had missed out on the chance to visit the chock full of literature and history that awaited me in the Shakespeare Globe Theatre. Being a student of literature, visiting the place where the Bard of Avon once enacted the plays he wrote was a spellbinding moment. And guess what? I also caught a staging of the Macbeth before I left the place. Before heading towards the Hyde Park tube station, I grabbed some of London’s famous Fish ‘n’ Chips from the oldest food market of the city, the Borough Market. From Hyde Park to Tower Hill in under fifteen minutes by Tube, I began exploring the Tower of London. It was there that I heard a guard speaking about where he hailed from. A quick conversation with Peter, I had gotten intrigued to know more about his village – Suffolk in Lavenham. I asked him how to get there and Peter, being the quintessential helping guide that Londoners are known to be, told me that I could either take a car from central London. Or I could wait for the next day and take the train from Liverpool to Sudbury and then take the bus route 753 and reach in around two hours. Having nothing to do, I spent that day in the British Museum and walking on Oxford Street.

The next morning, I started my journey to the quaint village of Suffolk. I had picked up a book about the village where I learned that the village had once housed Henry III in 1257. And a bonus for all the Harry Potter fans – the village also starred in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ as Godric’s Hollow where Hermoine and Harry are seen to be visiting Bathilda Bagshot. On reaching the village, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the picture-perfect silhouette of prosperous medieval England with all the half-timbered houses. The lime-washed and brightly coloured buildings added an idyllic element to the village with the De Vere House standing out from the rest. Adding to the rustic touch was the fifteenth-century St Peter Church with its soaring height of a 141ft tower. The autumn breeze welcomed me as I walked on the leaf-covered high streets. I saw some young guns cycling around in a park and called out to them for directions. My stay for the trip was an Air BnB home-stay where I had to put up with an elderly couple – the Havishams. I still remember how on reaching the gate of the house, I had caught a waft of crumpets and hot scones. After an exchange of banalities followed by me gorging on the scones, I had found out about the hidden gems from Mr Havisham who happened to be quite a cheerful talker. He told me what a must-visit Hadley’s was when in Suffolk. I had then set out with a local map to find the hidden gem. On reaching I had found that Hadley’s was a cutesy ice cream shop, almost run down, run by an old lady. Here Rebecca told me how the ice cream parlour was opened back in the 1850s and was still known for their hand-made sorbets.

Like the sorbet, my stay in Suffolk had been a sweet experience – a trip of revelation. The tour – with all the lonely walks – had in an inexplicable way helped me to get my perspectives right. It isn’t the exotic locales and the flight above the clouds that make travelling my drug. Rather, it is little but beautiful discoveries like Suffolk that feed my wanderlust. Thank you, London. Thank you for being a wonderful experience, once again.

travelling of my dream essay

Dreaming about traveling here's what it means, according to experts.

Sarah Regan

When it comes to dream interpretation, so much of it depends on the context and finer details of the dream. To dream about traveling is no exception, with a myriad of variations that can change the meaning of the dream . So, we asked experts about a few of their top interpretations for travel dreams—here's what they had to say.

Dream interpretation.

Before diving in, it's worth noting that any scientific validity to dream interpretation is sparse. Generally, dreams are thought of as a means of memory consolidation and potentially even "predicting" the future (i.e., our brains running through potential scenarios that could happen).

Nevertheless, we've all had dreams that seemed a bit too relevant to our waking lives, raising the question, What was that dream trying to tell me? Only you can truly understand what the symbols in your dreams mean to you, but there are still some common tropes in dreams that interpreters take to have specific meanings.

7 reasons you're dreaming about traveling:

You're craving freedom..

According to dream expert  Leslie Ellis, Ph.D., dreaming about travel can indicate that you're on a quest for freedom. "In this pandemic era where travel has been so restricted, travel dreams could be some form of vicarious way of gaining freedom of movement," she says, adding, "Freud was not entirely wrong about dreams being a form of wish fulfillment, at least some of the time."

You're experiencing some kind of movement in your life.

Along with a craving for freedom, travel dreams can also suggest there's some sort of movement or momentum happening in your life. "Traveling usually represents forward movement—progress in some area," notes professional dream interpreter  Lauri Loewenberg . And as Ellis adds, this "movement" could be personal or professional, as well as actual geographical movement.

You feel in control.

If you're traveling in a vehicle in your dream and it's running smoothly, Loewenberg tells mbg that can mean you feel in control of some aspect of your life. "You want to be driving the car, for example, because that's letting you know that whatever issue this dream is commenting on, you're in control of it," she explains.

You feel out of control.

On the other hand, Loewenberg says, if the car is having some hiccups, such as malfunctioning brakes, "that's a good indication that you're having a hard time getting something started in your real life, or you don't have a good handle on whatever path of progression this is connected to."

She adds that if you're driving a car in your dream and get into an accident, this can mean you're experiencing a sort of emotional or energy crash in your life.

You're experiencing some sort of ending.

Crashes or accidents in travel dreams can also mean something is on the verge of coming to an end in your life (or already has), Loewenberg notes.

The theme of endings existing within travel dreams can also relate to life stages and death, Ellis explains. "They can, at the far end of the journey, indicate preparation for death. There are many accounts of dreams easing people into the final stages of their life , preparing them in ways that tend to be calming and spiritual," she notes.

You're advancing in your career (or thinking about it).

According to Loewenberg, dreams about traveling in a plane , more often than not, are related to your career path, "because the plane takes off and we want our careers to take off and reach new levels." Planes can also represent your spiritual or religious path , she adds.

You're searching for something.

And lastly, depending on your destination, travel dreams can mean you're looking for something in your life. "If your destination is a beach, for example, that means you're trying to reach a place in your life where you are having peace of mind," Loewenberg explains. Or maybe you're traveling to a hospital, which would indicate you're on a healing path, she adds.

Interpretations based on travel companions:

Family members..

With the previous interpretations in mind, it's also important to consider who's accompanying you in the dream. In the case of family members, Ellis says, this could relate to feeling of moving on, or moving forward, as it relates to the family members in the dream.

A romantic partner.

Loewenberg says dreaming about traveling with a partner can offer good insight into how the relationship is going and how you both are reacting within the relationship. "Pay attention to who's behind the wheel and how well the vehicle is moving forward," she suggests, for example.

If you're on a boat, she adds they often represent our relationships. (Relation-"ship," get it?) "A ship or a boat will be commenting on a relationship more than any other vehicle because it travels on water, and water tends to represent the emotional self," Loewenberg explains.

In that case, are you on an extravagant cruise liner that's sailing smoothly? Or are you in a broken-down boat that's sinking fast ? You can guess which one indicates a relationship is heading south.

Co-workers.

If you're dreaming about work colleagues, Ellis says this situates the dream story in the world of work. "Again, it can be telling to look at the mode of travel, ease of transport, and nature of the destination," she notes. Ask yourself if you're getting to where you want to go. "This can be a big life question. Are the people you are with helping or hindering your progress?" Ellis adds.

Traveling solo.

Of course, there's a chance you'll be traveling solo in your dream, as well. Loewenberg says a common vehicle in travel dreams is a bike or motorcycle, which are, of course, single-passenger vehicles. This would be a dream about a path you are on alone that doesn't affect anyone else, she explains.

"You also have to have good balance to operate a bicycle or a motorcycle, so take a good look at your emotional balance or anything you're trying to balance in your life," Ellis adds.

The bottom line.

Dreaming about travel isn't uncommon—and interpreting these dreams always comes down to their context. With these potential interpretations at the ready, you're all set to open your mind to the world of your travel dreams—and consider how they relate to your reality.

Similarly, people who travel for fun get to experience and indulge in refreshing things which may serve as a stress reducer in their lives. The culture, architecture, cuisine and more of the place can open our mind to new things.

The Benefits of Travelling

There are numerous benefits to travelling if we think about it. The first one being, we get to meet new people. When you meet new people, you get the opportunity to make new friends. It may be a fellow traveller or the local you asked for directions.

Moreover, new age technology has made it easier to keep in touch with them. Thus, it offers not only a great way to understand human nature but also explore new places with those friends to make your trip easy.

Similar to this benefit, travelling makes it easier to understand people. You will learn how other people eat, speak, live and more. When you get out of your comfort zone, you will become more sensitive towards other cultures and the people.

Another important factor which we learn when we travel is learning new skills. When you go to hilly areas, you will most likely trek and thus, trekking will be a new skill added to your list.

Similarly, scuba diving or more can also be learned while travelling. A very important thing which travelling teaches us is to enjoy nature. It helps us appreciate the true beauty of the earth .

How To Write a Good Travel Essay

Few things can be more enjoyable than telling a fascinating story about your holidays. You can post it on your social media, create a travel blog, or write an essay for school. Sharing memories of the pleasant trip is for sure much more interesting and exciting than writing an academic essay on some obscure topic. Besides obvious fun, however, this kind of writing could bring the same challenges as any other topic and even a few more.

notebook

Traditional struggles with essay writing include crafting a clear outline, selecting your key ideas and related arguments, and drafting a concise text. Travel essays may additionally raise the issue of wanting to tell too much. It is also easy to overwhelm your readers with lots of new facts and information about another country or activity. So, let’s discuss some tips and tricks on how to write your travel essay smoothly and with the best result.

Start With a Map

planning a trip

Your wonderful journey was born after looking through the bucket lists of the most remarkable destinations and choosing several highlights of your trip. Most probably, you’ve planned an itinerary connecting your dream destinations trying for it to be the shortest or the most picturesque. Same is valid for planning your travel essay – always start with an outline.

Clear draft of the points you’d like to describe and details to better illustrate your story could keep you in check while writing your essay. It’ll be easier to follow one narrative line without wandering off. The best about the outlines is that anyone can write an essay with an elaborated outline. And if you struggle with finding time or inspiration to complete your essay, you can always apply for help to professionals. As the best essay writing service reviews show, experienced writers deliver great essays based on the clients’ outlines.

Focus on Your Goal

Even travel essays can differ in type and end goals. You can describe your journey from start to finish concentrating on the attractions seen. Or you can talk about funny incident that happened to you. One can always dare to beat Jack Kerouac and write a road story. It is even possible to go travel-blog style and write about lifehacks for those planning a journey.

Whatever you choose as your aim for an essay would decide the text structure, language, and whole approach to writing. It is advisable to keep this in mind and avoid mixing several goals in one paper. The essay format requires being brief and sticking to one line of narrative. It wouldn’t work to start philosophical dwellings on the symbolism of the road and continue with lifehacks about packing light for a journey.

Paint a Picture

Unless you’re writing an essay for your personal travel blog, it’d be difficult to attach photos to illustrate your text. So, you should use your words instead. Try to add adjectives and phrases that bring your memories to life. If a good description makes you feel the taste and smell of your holidays, it’s probable your readers would feel that too.

Remember, though, to stay tasteful and brief. Too many personal details may spoil the effect your essay was supposed to make. And documenting every step of your journey may turn your account into a boring story. Keeping a balance here is a challenge, but if succeeded you’ll have a captivating essay for any kind of audience.

Tie Your Story to Bigger Issues

Of course, your vacations deserve detailed storytelling. But without clearly demonstrated relations between the lessons you’ve learned on your trip and more universal challenges and experiences, it might be quite boring for other people to read your essay. In the end, we all worry most about our own lives. So, to grasp the attention of your readers try to plan your captivating story around some relatable issue. For example, feeling of sadness away from home despite wonderful landscapes around you. Or practical challenges of finding a common language with locals in another country.

With such an approach in mind, you can add advice or travel recommendations to your essay based on your own experience and reflections. This would make your paper more useful, important to finish, and relatable.

Recounting your exciting travels is a pleasant task. Even with efforts to put into writing an essay, the subject itself warms sparks the inspiration. There is an obvious need to follow the traditional essay-writing rules. Start with a clear outline in mind, limit your account to several highlights of your journey, connect your experience to some relatable issue your reader would feel close to. Consider choosing some stronger emotional adjectives or phrases to convey your personal feelings about the journey. Think about your paper as of your travel journal and as a brief educational piece for someone who’s never traveled. This way your essay would be both colorful and concise for any reader to love.

Why I Love Traveling

//  by  Lisa 22 Comments

[updated August 2022]   Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover.    – Mark Twain

Main St Memphis

Hi. I’m Lisa and I love to travel. Plain and simple. And it’s a passionate affair, not hyperbole. I had to write this ‘why I love travelling’ essay to try to express how much I love travel. I started this blog in 2006 to document my trip around the world. Now I’ve been to more than 60 countries and counting . My travels have changed and shaped my life.

Why I love travel Essay

Ever since I was a kid, I had a sense of adventure. Just going around the ‘next bend’ on my bicycle, to see what was there, was exciting. And then as adult, it got the best of me and I quit my job as an Emmy award-winning TV producer, sold most of my stuff, and took off to travel around the world for two years. I never thought I’d do something like that. It was a pipe dream. It seemed impossible. Until..it wasn’t.

In most cases, traveling is cheaper , easier , and safer than you think.

I have always loved the adventure of travel — the unknown, something different, something new. And I feel the same way today… even though now the ‘next bend’ may be on another continent. I have been extremely lucky to continuously feed my passion and love of travel. Many out there share my passion while others do not. Looking back I can recount how I developed this travel bug . But, why do I love traveling so much? Here’s my ‘I love travel essay’ to try to explain this magic of travel!

Lisa Lubin in Colombia

Table of Contents

1.  I love the excitement of traveling

I love the excitement of it all — feeling like an explorer — discovering a new land, a new language, new money and all the little challenges that go along with it. When I travel, I am more spontaneous and don’t live for the future or the past… just in the moment. Being impulsive and saying ‘yes’ to nearly everything is part of the fun.

2.  I love the adrenaline rush of traveling

I love the rush . Habitual runners get off on the kick-in of endorphins that give them that extra boost they need to keep going. I get the same jolt from a day of travel or an unexpected side trip to a new and undiscovered land (for me… not for all mankind) that I hadn’t planned to visit.  Traveling seems to give me a near constant adrenaline rush.  After a few years of uninterrupted travel, I became quite addicted to this feeling. Traveling can be a challenge, but to me, a fun challenge that I enjoy conquering time and time again.  Plus it sure beats having to vacuum, pay bills, or shop for toilet paper.

Siena, Italia

“…so many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day, to have a new and different sun.” -Chris McCandless – “Into the Wild”

3.  I love learning new things

I learn so much from travel . World travel broadens your mind in so many ways. You meet new people, share new experiences, and let down your guard much more than when back at home caught up in the mundane day to day routine of life that we think is normal.  I get to see how the world lives. I see the sun and smiles in Israel that go way beyond the CNN clips. I learn about the differences and embrace the similarities. I am not there to complain about how it is ‘so different than back home,’ but rather to appreciate these dissimilarities. Just because something is different does NOT mean it is wrong and in many cases it can even be better. And, the people I meet get to know a bit about me, my world, and my background which can help dispel some other stereotypes as well. And now, some headlines I may have not noticed in the past, grab my attention. I’ve been to these places and have experienced their generosity. Now I’m much more interested and aware of what is going on there.

4.  I love the l ogistics of traveling

I like landing in a new place and trying to figure it all out myself. Where to get money. How to speak the language. How to go from point A to point B. How to pack my bag right so I don’t go insane after packing it for the 135 th time. Well, okay, maybe I don’t love that mundane task, but I still figure it’s better than all the tedious chores I left back home when I decided to travel. It all actually becomes easier and easier as it goes and gives you the sense of confidence that you can do anything. If I can plop down in an airport amidst the chaos of Cairo or hubbub in Hanoi and manage to get myself into the heart of town and find a place to stay, all the while, not getting ripped off and keep my sense of humor, then I am certainly not really worried about being able to go anywhere, anytime.

5.  I love the simplicity of it all.

My only job is to go somewhere and figure out how to do it. My to-do list is rather short: figure out the exchange rate and get cash out of an ATM, figure out a few key words in the native language , figure out transport to my lodging and around town, exchange books (find English used bookstore), do laundry every 2 weeks or so. Because I travel for longer periods, occasionally I also have to: get a haircut and buy new clothes to replace ratty, holey old ones.

Everything you own is with you in one bag . You only have a few pairs of pants or t-shirts, so getting dressed each day is an easy task. The more we have, the more it seems to weigh us down. Your life isn’t complicated by all the nonsense that is back home. But, guess what? If you really need a new shirt or shoes… you can buy it anywhere in the world. There is not much we actually really need and I think in this mega-consumerist society, we too often forget that. You need food and you need shelter… that’s about it. I enjoy some love, laughter, and happiness too… but that’s free and takes up no space in my luggage.

train stations around the world

6.  I love meeting new people all the time.

In no other time in my life have I met so many people and made so many new friends in such a short time. The world is full of friendly, generous people. Sure, every place has its share of nitwits too, but as a traveler, you seem much less likely to meet them.  Maybe because people want to help you or maybe because you just don’t know some people long enough to uncover their schmuck-like tendencies. Since the nature of travel is to keep moving, these folks never become boring… because you simply don’t know them long enough to discover their flaws or get sick of them.

7.  I love the freedom .

I experience a great feeling of independence from traveling solo . I can go wherever I want, whenever I want. I can sleep in. I can stay out late. It’s all up to me.

Forest of Dean

All this also shows me how easy it would be just to live somewhere else… anywhere else really.  Staying in each place for an extended bit of time taught me how I could make friends, find work, and find a flat all rather easily.  Things that I would have to do if I was living there anyway-so, in many ways, for all intents and purposes it’s as if I was living there already.

“Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open roads Healthy and free, the world before me. The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose. Henceforth I ask not good fortune, I myself am good fortune. Henceforth I whimper no more, Postpone no more, need clothing, Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms. Strong and content I travel the open road.” -Walt Whitman, from: Leaves of Grass

Great perspective on the why's of travel (love the quotes) – especially in regards to simplicity and freedom from possessions. I am in the midst of re-configuring my life for long-term travel and just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement you offer by just doing what you want to do.

We need to travel to see faces different from the one that we always have around and to avoid the depression of being stuck in the same place.

I think traveling is incredibly important. It increases tolerance because you actually meet people from different cultures and learn that they are not so different from you.I wish that I could travel far more but I can't afford it! Great review !

I love the empowerment, the feeling of self-confidence. After some time on the road, I feel I can conquer the world – there isn't anything I can't take on. Travel makes me strong as well as worldly.

I quoted that same Mark Twain line to a friend some time ago and he replied, "There was never a safe harbor." At the time I thought he was just being antagonistic, but I see that it was very true. we could get run over by a bus any day of the year. our heart can get broken in any city in the world, and every day people go to sleep and never wake up. I think his pessimistic response is just more of a reason for everyone to go see what the world has to offer them.

Every person has a dream, my dream was broken and shattered. I used to love travelling, every day i always used to ask my parents, Can we go somewhere new? The truth was, I was so badly addicted that i started leaving in a dream world of my own. I used to draw photos of south america, used to look up all the facts.. but deep inside I forgot that reality is so bitter. The place I was living was alright, but soon it became depressing. I felt like life without travelling for just a few moments would ruin my life. The people I started meeting in different countries made me feel like i belonged there, not here. My happy memories travelling? I cry whenever i think of it again. I feels like being locked in a cage, full of darkness. Every month i'd wait for my holidays, cry and plead my parents to at least take me to a nearby country. No one understands how much i love travelling, and you know? One day Im going to get there. Im going fufill all my dreams because You only live once. That's all to say.

This resonates with me on many levels, particularly the excitement of it all and figuring out logistics. I'm so glad that I've had a passion for travel since I was a kid, too. It makes me happy to be going places.

I guess the passion for travel is hardwired in us. The passion may wane but somehow, the desire to travel (even just from one city to the next) will be there.

Dreaming of Travel Essay — My Dream Vacation

Where would YOU go if you could have the vacation of your dreams?

For me, If I could choose the vacation of my dreams, I would definitely choose southern Europe. Although the USA is far from here, it is possible to reach to Europe by plane. Why do I want to travel to countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal or Greece? The answer is simple; their climate is perfect and their ancient buildings and monuments teach about the birth of Western Civilization. I would love to go to the airport today and buy a ticket to start my journey in Greece.

Greece is the cradle of Western Civilization. Such philosophers as Aristotle, Plato and Socrates generated their wise ideas and ‘invented’ philosophy in Greece. Very soon, their thoughts spread in other European countries. I would like to visit Greece in order to understand the influence of the country’s nature, people and cuisine on our culture. Their influence has been positive because of so many talented personalities originating from this magnificent place. I would love to start my vacation in Athens. This ancient city, the capital of Greece, is full of marvelous monuments and prehistoric buildings that have survived until our time. I would like to walk about the old city and admire the historical places of interest.

It would be foolish to leave Greece without trying its cuisine. Greeks are famous for their love for dairy products, olives, fish and of course wine. They manage to combine these ingredients to produce splendid dishes.

The second stop of my journey would be Italy. But I am confused about which places to visit with so many great choices. The most obvious place is Rome, the capital of Italy. This ancient city is supposed to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. The Colosseum, Vatican City, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain would all be worth visiting. The entire city is practically a big monument and a complex of historic buildings that impress your mind. I would like to spend a few days wandering around and visiting its cozy restaurants and pizzerias.

I would try all possible kinds of pizza if I were in Italy because this dish is one of my favorites. It would be a crime to miss the chance to eat a genuine Italian pizza cooked in its motherland. Then, I should definitely try different sorts of the Italian wine. I would like to devote a day or two to the exploration of the small villas and private households that grow grapes and produce their wine.

If I am in Italy, I should go to Venice. This city is known all over the world due to its unique position and organization. When I was a child I dreamt to visit Venice, this magical city placed on the water. You will not see a car or scooter there because native citizens travel about Venice by boats. I want to look at the police, vendors and public transport that function on boats. In addition, Venice is rich in Gothic architecture. It is difficult to imagine something more imposing that looking at Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco and Doge’s Palace from your gondola. I suppose, I will feel like in a fairy tale when I decide to spend a week in the city on the water. I would try to visit this spectacular city during the carnival that gathers thousands of people in the streets wearing masks and weird costumes.

sagrada-familia

Next would be Spain. Barcelona is the primary city in my ‘must see’ list. The city is known for its architecture and lifestyle. I have dreamt about visiting the Sagrada Familia for years. I think this historic church will definitely impress me with its size and beauty. Then, I will look at the other Gaudi masterpieces that have made Barcelona famous. Barcelona Cathedral, The Arc de Triomf, The National Museum of Art of Catalonia and other places of interest are worth attention. The Barcelona beach is the ideal place to have a good rest. Its pure water and well known parties will make your vacation unforgettable. Although I am not a big fan of soccer, I would like to visit the museum of the strongest European team in Barcelona. Moreover, it would be nice to watch the game at the largest stadium in Europe called Camp Nou.

I suppose I would finish my vacation in Barcelona and fly home by plane from it's airport. I believe that these experiences and impressions obtained in the picturesque and warm southern European countries will stay with me for years. Obviously, I will try to turn this dream vacation into reality.

What would your dream vacation look like?

Introduction:

My dream to become a Soldier started on an Army Day (January 15th), when I was still in High School. I witnessed the tribute paid to martyred soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in India Gate. It was followed by parades displaying Tanks, Missiles, and War Helicopters etc. The impression I received that day motivates me to realise my dream to become a Soldier.

Love of a Soldier:

The history of Indian independence and the life of freedom fighters has always fascinated me. Those who were responsible for the air of freedom we breathe today, loved our motherland and dedicated their lives to its well-being. These seeds in me have developed a sense of love for the country. It has also nurtured my dream to become a soldier and safeguard it.

Spirit of a Soldier:

Apart from academics, I started to collect all details about how to realise my dream to become a Soldier. I began to understand the values that inspire a Soldier to willingly face challenges and responsibly safeguard the nation even at the cost of his own life. This inspired me to study well and keep myself fit to achieve my dream to become a Soldier.

Training of a Soldier:

I also understood about the training before service. The feeling of pride and mutual loyalty is imbibed among the trainees. They are also trained to willing sacrifice for the country’s honour, with a do or die spirit. A sense of fearlessness, fairness and honesty are inculcated during the disciplined training. These components further kindled my dream to become a Soldier.

Lifestyle of a Soldier:

On the one hand, the soldier’s life is a life of self-sacrifice. On the other hand, the lifestyle it offers far exceeds my expectation, and fuels my dream to become a Soldier. Opportunities to advance in ranks, paid study holidays, subsidized housing, free medical coverage and recreational facilities are provided, apart from regular salary and perks. Lifelong pension is awarded after retirement.

Conclusion:

Many young people in the country offer the time of their life to work for big Corporates. But, I am here to pursue my dream to become a Soldier and dedicate my life to the welfare of the nation. I often encourage my friends to follow my dream to become a Soldier, at least for a short service tenure ranging from 10 to 14 years.

At a very early age, my dream was to do something big in life. But along with that I still had some fears also. I want to have a successful career, and for this, I had set an aim. It is quite essential for everybody to get them to establish professionally and successfully. Besides this, few other dreams are also necessary for me like health, relationships, and many different aspects of life. However, I also fear to get fail in achieving all these targets.

Career Dream and Fear:

When I was a kid, my dream was to become a doctor. But during my growing age, the Bollywood industry fascinated me and then my dream of becoming doctor changed to an actor. When I passed my class 12 th , the only goal that hit my mind was becoming an engineer. I always fear of dreaming about big things, but if you have potential then, you can achieve anything in life.

Dream and Fear of Health and Fitness:

When I was young, I was not so much concerned about my health. But now I realized the importance of having good health. My dream of becoming fit and healthy was only achieved due to strong willpower and eagerness of doing regular exercise. With this thought, I managed to lose around 15 kg easily. Now, I don’t fear about eating any food as I compensate that with my daily workout.

Dreams and fear about the relationship:

There is a special place of relationships in my life, and sometimes I fear about losing the important people in my life. But, now I realize that instead of thinking negative, we should try to spend more time with the people. It is as essential as my dream of good career.

Thinking only about the career and success with the little amount of fear might not offer you complete happiness later. It is good to become serious about your career, but you should also try to overcome any fear for a more successful life ahead.

Life is a dynamic process that has its ups and downs. Juggling the disparities of life can be very stressful at times and that is why you get your mind wondering in thoughts. Most thoughts are usually based on what people desire, which we call the dream life. The desires in life may not always be achieved but it is good to have a picture or at least an idea of the kind of life on desires to have. In America, people have the American dream but you as an individual should ask yourself; what is your dream life?

How my dream life looks like:

Socially, I have always imagined myself being a very influential person in my society. Currently in school, I always have the urge to influence someone but I still lack the confidence and resources to do so. I have always wanted to travel the world and explore different cultures of the world through interactions with people. I also imagine of having a great family with whom I can travel the world with.

Career-wise, I want to work at the comfort of my own home and be flexible so that I can always have time for my family. Spiritually, I have a desire to always be in good terms with God and follow the doctrines of my religion.

Economically, I want to be self-actualized at an early age so that I can focus on my influential personality, having all the resources I need. I want to be satisfied with what I will have achieved and work on living a happy life.

How I plan on living my dream life?

Living the dream life can begin any time that you chose to be as an individual. For my dream life, the things that I can achieve while still at school is the ability to have a spiritual wellness and flowing the doctrines of my religion. I can also start learning to appreciate whatever I have and living a happy life.

For the desires that I cannot achieve at the moment, I will work towards achieving them by shaping and redirecting the pathway. For example, my career, I will pursue something in the university that will allow me to work from home without necessarily going to work.

A dream life is basically the desired of one’s heart inform of an imagination. A dream life does not affect the reality in any way.

A dream is something that helps you to mold your future and aim your life to an appropriate goal. Dreaming big will help us to work for it harder and finally achieve it. Without desire and aim in life, we cannot focus and work hard to fulfill our dream.

My Dream to become a Doctor:

The biggest dream of my life is to become a doctor. I have seen many doctors, who save other people’s lives and they feel happy in the satisfaction they get through this activity. I want to be a doctor, who will serve good for this society and help poor to get good medical care without expecting big money in return.

Doctors are respected in all places and among all types of society. In spite of being different in many things like wealth, religion, etc., everyone will be in need of the best doctor to treat them honestly. I dream of being one such doctor to whom anyone can come without any doubt and fear of being tricked.

I don’t want to be a doctor who just works for money. I want to help others who can’t afford big budget treatments and choose their fate due to their lack of money. When a person is cured of their illness, the smile that appears on their face will be the greatest reward I will ever get. My dream is to become a doctor, who is praised for the kindness and get rewards through others blessings.

How to become a Doctor?

To get the admissions in a medical seat is not that easy. But I will work hard and crack the competitive exam to get a merit seat in the college. I will work hard from the beginning to end to improve my knowledge and keep updated about every upcoming and ongoing development.

I would like to choose the specialization when I can actually decide which one will suit my desire. I have an aim to serve the people in their needs and once I grow big enough to decide the correct career to fulfill my dream, I will work harder to achieve that as well.

After achieving My Dream:

Once I complete my whole medical courses I would be looking to practice in a well-reputed hospital to perfect my job. With this perfection I will start my own clinic and serve people for the rest of my life along with this I will help other students also to get trained to become a good doctor. I will make sure that my dream will come true at the best time.

We all have some sort of ambition or dream. My dream is to become a world class chef. Dreams play a very important role in moulding our future. There is a saying that “if you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it”. This saying implies that if you can work hard and put in your best to achieving your dream, it is very possible to live your dream. Working hard to achieve ones dream is easier said than done but if you put in your best effort and never give up, dreams are achievable.

In the path of achieving my dream, it is important that I take one step at a time. Even if I have a very big dream of becoming a word class chef, it is best for me to take steady and small steps by setting both long term and short term goals, by doing this, I am always working towards achieving my dream. When I take one step at a time, it helps not to rush into decisions and take things easy.

I know becoming a world class chef is not very easy and can only happen if complete and proper training from a very reputable institute and there isn’t much I can do at the moment to speed up the realisation of my dream since I am still in school. However, I still do my best to set my dream rolling, I follow a lot of cooking websites and blogs, watch cooking shows, read culinary books and I practice my cooking to sharpen my skills every time. These are all little steps I am taking towards achieving my dream. Though my goal is to become a world class chef, I have small goals in place for each month and year to come so that I can reach my dream.

A major hindrance to achieving my set goals and my dream is the lack of inadequacy of motivation. A lot of people have given up their goals and dreams just because they got tired on the way. It is extremely important to remain motivated and only stop is when the dream has been achieved. Highlighted below are some useful tips that I have used to keep myself motivated on the journey to reaching my dream:

i. Anytime I see that I am running out of drive and energy and I am becoming too tired to stick to my set goals, I try to remind myself of what my dream is and the feeling of pride and joy I will experience when I achieve it and become a world class chef. It feels like pressing a reset button and starting with a refreshed mind again and working harder towards achieving my dream.

ii. Long term goals and short term goals are set towards the ultimate goal of achieving my dream and as I reach these short term goals, I try to reward myself for my achievement. The reward can vary from eating dinner at my favourite restaurant or buying myself a new phone I wanted or going out with my friends. Rewarding myself is a very good way to remain motivated towards the achievements of my goals and ultimately my dream.

iii. When I work too much and have no time to relax and play, my productivity drops and I become dull. Therefore, it is a good idea to have some time for myself away from work to focus on something fun that I love. I find time in my schedule every day to engage in some form of leisure activity or sport.

iv. Having people who believes in my dream and support my goals around me makes all the difference. Having positive people helps me find the strength and courage to push on and not give up on my dream. They motivate me to work hard and do the best to achieve my goals and my dream.

v. A mistake is nothing more than an experience and an opportunity to try again and do things much better. So, instead of getting heartbroken and disheartened to the point of wanting to give up on my goals and dream when I face a tough time or make mistakes, I learn from the mistakes and move on as the tough times and mistakes make me a lot stronger.

I will keep working hard towards achieving my dream and I believe that I will become a world class chef one day.

Who in this world does not have a dream? A dream to buy a car, a dream to be a scientist, a dream to do something for the society, or just a dream to live a life with contentment. Something or the other, but surely every person has a dream. It is this dream that drives you to work hard, achieve your milestones and ride towards success in your life. Success need not be becoming the wealthiest person on the earth. Achieving even your smallest dream can be a huge success for you. Since childhood, you come across various fields which often you think of as your ultimate targets. However, most of them are just fantasies and fade away with time. Still, there are some things which just stick on to your minds and these very things eventually go on to be your dreams.

My Dream – My Passion:

Like others, even I have a dream. My dream is to join the intelligence unit of the country and serve my country with pride. Usually, in order to serve the country, people think of joining the armed forces. However, I have a different point of view. I dream to join the intelligence unit and provide inputs to these armed forces so that they can protect the country in a good way and not many lives are lost fight battles with our neighbours.

Where did it all start?

Since my childhood, I have been fascinated by the role of intelligence and the methods of work they are used to. I had got a chance to be with a couple of people early in my life who were in the same field and it is from here that I got so much stuck up with this profession that I have dreamt day and night to be a part of this elite team. Moreover, I feel that I have it in me to research about things as well as people and am known in my circles to extract information from nowhere. I feel that this talent of mine can prove helpful for the country as well. Intelligence plays a crucial role in the security establishment of the country. The inputs gathered from intelligence units help the government and the forces to plan their steps both at diplomatic and at the level of securing the borders.

Another thing which excites me about this dream is that it is not a conventional field such as common occupations which are sought after by most of the youth of our country. Another very important thing to mention here that you need not formally join the intelligence to realise this dream. By keeping a check on your surroundings and providing proper information to the police in case you notice an unfavourable incident is also a form of your contribution to the security agencies of the country. If everyone remains active, a lot many incidents such as terrorist attacks can be averted.

Why having a dream is so important?

Dreams are very important for everyone. Without dreams, there will be no desire to pursue. There will be no objective to reach. We will all be nothing without dreams. Not having dreams resembles pursuing a traceless homicide. It resembles following an undetectable shadow. It is a loathsome goose pursue. We should comprehend what we need to do and pursue that desire.

A great many people have dreams. Successful ones or little ones. Indeed, even the best individuals had dreams and that is the thing that has made them what they are today. Envisioning is basic for a person. Without dreams, you will lose enthusiasm forever lastly prefer not to live. You will be exhausted and tired of the equivalent dull schedules of your everyday life and won’t discover an enthusiasm for the most energizing things. Just with dreams, will you discover a reason to carry on with your life? You will begin buckling down towards the fantasy and will never lose enthusiasm forever. You will never tire and dependably be spurred. This is the most ideal approach to end up effective. So, dream and dream big. It is the only way to achieve contentment in life.

Be that as it may, with dreams, comes extraordinary duty. It is not just sufficient to dream and disregard that fantasy. Numerous individuals dream, however just some wake up and work for it.

It is basic to buckle down for your fantasies. Without this diligent work, a fantasy will just remain a craving in the subliminal personality and will never be accomplished.

On the off chance that you don’t have a fantasy, you can never appreciate the extravagances of life or all that life brings to the table. You will never feel that delighted sentiment of accomplishment. You will never get pride in what you do and what you have accomplished. Every one of these things is vital for people and without these emotions, there is no inspiration.

In the event that you don’t have inspiration, you will be a disappointment throughout everyday life. You won’t have the capacity to accomplish those objectives and will have a hopeless existence. You will never appreciate the extravagances of life and you will never feel glad. You will be a disappointment and you will be nothing throughout everyday life. We should go that additional mile to achieve our objectives. Disappointments may come, however a state of mind to continue proceeding onward and attempting to enhance is completely accomplished by dreams. Dreams are the fuel that continues invigorating you to go further. Regardless of whether there are numerous snags throughout everyday life, you will, in general, continue moving further and attempting to be superior to anything your identity. Consistent and endless enhancement is extremely imperative in advancing throughout everyday life. It improves your identity and furthermore whatever you need to advance in. It causes you to gain from your missteps

Only having career objectives and succeeding professionally can disregard you after one point throughout everyday life. Work as constantly to accomplish these as you do to understand your ultimate dreams. Having a dream is not important. What is important is striving continuously to achieving it. The sense of satisfaction you acquire once you have attained your goals cannot be explained in words and has no alternative in life. So, strive hard and live your dreams. Who knows, what is there in store for you?

The Perfect Spot

A dream destination is a perfect spot that seems to call out to you. It’s a place where you believe you will find joy and excitement. For some, it may be the snowy mountains where they can ski and play in the snow. For others, it could be sunny beaches with clear blue water where they can swim and build sandcastles.

500 Words Essay on Dream Destination

A dream destination is a place you have always wanted to visit. It is like a treasure at the end of a rainbow, full of excitement and wonder. This place can be anywhere in the world. Choosing Your Dream Destination

Choosing a dream destination is a fun thing to do. Some people might want to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris, while others may want to walk on the Great Wall of China. It depends on what you like. Learning About Your Dream Destination

Once you have chosen your dream destination, you can start learning about it. You can read books, watch videos, or look at pictures. Learning about the place you want to visit is part of the fun. You can learn about the food, the language, and the culture of the people who live there. This can make you even more excited to go.

Saving and Planning for the Trip

Going to your dream destination can be expensive, so you might have to save money. You can do this by putting a little bit of your allowance away each week. You can also plan how you will get there. Will you take a plane, a boat, or a train? Planning your trip is like putting together the pieces of a puzzle.

What to Do When You Get There

When you finally get to your dream destination, there will be so much to do. You can see the sights that you have read about. You can try new foods and meet new people. You can take lots of photos to remember your trip. It will be an adventure that you will never forget.

A dream destination is more than just a place on a map. It is a goal and a part of your dreams. It is something that can bring joy into your life just by thinking about it. One day, when you get to visit your dream destination, it will be a special time that you will always remember. So keep dreaming about that special place you want to visit, because dreams do come true.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

My Dream Destination Essay in English

Essay On My Dream Destination, Dharamshala

My Dream Destination Essay in English Hobbies are an integral part of everyone’s life. Traveling is my passion. I love traveling. It is also a journey, where we explore a variety of cultures, traditions, and languages, but all with a practical approach. There are different dream destinations people can have when it comes to traveling. While traveling, people like to explore different cuisines, talk to the local people, and want to have some memorable moments that last for a long time.

When we come back from any destination, we have a pile of beautiful moments that we gathered during the trip. Nothing can match this feeling.

Today, I am going to talk about my dream destination, which is Dharamshala. Million people have a dream to visit Dharamshala at some point in their life. India is rich in diversity with many states, having different cultures, traditions, and heritage.

Talking about Dharamshala, it is my dream destination. I already visited this place many times, but I would definitely want to go there again.

my dream destination essay in english

My Favourite Dream Destination Essay

I am a nature-lover person. When it comes to planning for a trip, I always prefer a destination, which is closer to nature and Dharamshala has no exception. Dharamshala is located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, a state in India. It is the winter capital city of Himachal Pradesh. It is just 18 kms away from Kangra, a city in Himachal Pradesh.

It has served as the place where many administrative headquarters of the Kangra District is located. Recently, the city has been chosen as one of a hundred in the country to be developed as a smart city under the flagship ‘Smart Cities Mission’ by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. I love this place because of its scenic beauty.

What many people don’t know about Dharamshala is that there are 2 parts of the city. One part is called Lower Dharamshala, which is the commercial hub and packed with courts, markets, and the well-known Kotwali Bazaar. The second part is known as Upper Dharamshala, which is home to Mcleodganj and other structural buildings that give us an idea of its colonial past.

When we visit any part of Dharamshala, both of them have something different to offer. While visiting this destination in India, it lets travelers unwind and take in the beauty of its surroundings. I definitely want to visit this place for once more time with my family or friends.

My Dream Place to Visit Essay

Top tourist places.

My dream destination, Dharamshala, has many attractive places, where we can visit and get the best experience of life. It is an ideal dream destination for all those who want to redefine their traveling experience from valleys, hills, rivers, and forests to crazy adventure-based sports like trekking, paragliding, and rock climbing.

Different tourist attractions attract people from different parts of the world to visit this destination every year. Nature lovers and adventure seekers find this place very exciting and peaceful. Check out some sightseeing places we can visit in Dharamshala, which are mentioned below:

  • Triund Hill: It is known as the crown of Dharamshala. From one side, this hill is covered by the Dhauladhar range, and from the other side, it has rolling valleys. Travelers visit it and do trekking and organize picnics with some breathtaking views.
  • Dharamshala cricket stadium: It is one of the oldest places in Dharamshala. Its picturesque beauty is covered in the greenery of the Himalayan range. This stadium hosts a variety of cricket matches. It is called HPCA stadium.
  • St. John Church: It is another popular sightseeing place in Dharamshala. This church is one of the oldest places and has noticeable features, which make people feel stunned. If you want to engage in a moment of rediscovery, then this church is the best place to explore.
  • The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives: It is another enlightening travel place in Dharamshala. It is home to Tibetan literature. Here, we can find many salvaged manuscripts from the great exile of 1959.
  • Gyuto Monastery: It is one of the ancient and well-known monasteries in the state. It is also known for tantric meditation, Buddhist philosophy, and tantric ritual arts.
  • Dal Lake: It is also one of the most beautiful attractions in Dharamshala. This body of water is covered by coniferous deodar trees, which make it an ideal combination of coziness and romance. Tourists love to take photographs at this exotic place.

These are some popular places we can visit in Dharamshala. But on the other hand, there are many other famous temples, monasteries, and gardens in Dharamshala that can also give us the best traveling experience.

These are The Aromatic Tea Gardens, Namgyal Monastery, TsuglagKhang Complex, Bhagsu Falls, Bhagsunath Temple, Hanuman Ka Tibba, Kangra Fort, Indrahar Pass, etc.

I personally like Bhagsu Falls and Bhagsunath Temple. Bhagsu Falls is a waterfall in Dharamshala, which is surrounded by greenery and the best place for rock climbers and hikers. Here, there is a Bhagsunath Temple that is devoted to Lord Shiva and situated near the waterfall.

When we stand on the top of Bhagsu Falls, we get an incredible view of the entire city of Dharamshala. We can also visit local markets in Dharamshala, where we can buy some unique and artistic local items.

Local foods to enjoy

Dharamshala is known to be a spiritual and cultural abode. While the hills and magnificent spiritual centers are big attractions to beckon travelers, the food also plays a vital role in making our stay more wholesome and better.

We can take the pleasure of a variety of local foods in Dharamshala such as Tudkiya Bhat, Thukpa, Shapta, Momos, Maggi and Chai, Mittha, Dham, and many others.

Before visiting Dharamshala, I make advance bookings as it is a place where there is a huge rush every time. This is why it would be good to have advance hotel bookings. There are five-star hotels and lodges in Dharamshala, which we can choose from.

I never get bored visiting Dharamshala in my life as it is closer to me in every sense. It has given me the best memories of my life that I want to relive at some point.

Dream to travel around the world

travelling of my dream essay

I love to travel. From childhood, I liked to explore the different cities. My dream is to travel around the world. While traveling, you meet different people, no, bother of their castes and religion. No, fuss about their culture and faith. You only meet and know about them. You get a chance to familiarize yourself with different castes, religions, and cultures. How amazing it is! The earth becomes so small. All the people get close to each other.

In the fast-growing economy, everything is easy to access. It’s a period of gadgets. All the things will be done with one click. Mobile makes your work easier and faster. If you plan for a holiday trip, just search on the internet and book the tickets online. You can get the best option by comparing with the other options. There is no need to go to an office to office to dig up the best options. You need only the money to avail of any service. But for the middle-class people, it’s not an easy job.

My family belongs to a middle class and we are four brother and sisters. My father is the only earning hand of the family. In school, I had joined the NCC and participate in all their camps and had a trip to different cities in India.

I chummed around the different parts of India and I met with different people from diverse religion from a different part of the country. I savored the different types of food. I can’t express how astounding it was, to taste the different cultural food! How can I convey my experience in words what traveling is for me! Now people call me “Gallivanter” and I amour with this new name.

I mostly traveled around India. Now, I am yearning to travel abroad and a hitch is a budget and the process of visa formalities and all. A middle-class people can’t imagine having an exotic trip. One has to put all his saving for a diminutive trip. My family didn’t allow to spend all the saving just for pleasure.

Last week, I read a brochure of  DHAMTRIP  in which I got to know about “ The Bangkok- Pattaya Trip ” in just  Rs.6800.00 .  What amazing news! I felt out of the world. Isn’t this whopping great!, in Rs.6800.00 you can spend  4 nights 5 days in Bangkok – Pattaya .  I was very delighted and thought now my dream will become true.

When I talked with my family, my father said: “Do you know what the cost of Bangkok- Pattaya trip is?” I was soundless. He told that the cost of Bangkok- Pattaya trip is around Rs.40, 000/-. This is a trickster nothing else. Dhamtrip is just fooling the people. How can one provide Bangkok- Pattaya trip in this amount! First I disappointed, but when I talked to others I came across the truth of Dhamtrip.

DHAMTRIP  is a genuine travel agency. I read the reviews of Dhamtrip on Google.  I didn’t find any fishy activity. If they are “Charlatan”, People would give some comments on Google. No one can leave such type of person easily. People should complain or write bad reviews about them.

I decided to visit Dhamtrip. First, my father was very anguish with me, but after my persuasion, resistance, and stubborn behavior, he ready to visit the office of Dhamtrip. When he met Ashokji (Owner), he realized that we were wrong. Ashok Jee was getting all our very carefully and then answered all the questions. He satisfied us regarding each and every term of the trip. He also gave some contact number to whom we could clarify whether Dhamtrip is genuine or not.

When we asked him how they provided such a reasonable trip when the same trip was available at Rs. 30000.00. He answered very confidently that our first motto to provide best services at reasonable rates and expand our network. More and more people connect with us. My margin is very negligible but when it is on a large scale, I will connect to more people and definitely earn better.

He elucidated that he started the business with the spiritual trip and gradually moves to International trips also. This is because of his clear perception to serve others with the best services. Now, we are planning to start the Europe trip also.

He made clear that with the help of its associates and working partners, he brought out this offer. Nothing is hidden in it. You would enjoy all the things mentioned in it. If you liked to avail any extra services, then you have to pay extra for it. Airfare and Air insurance are not included in it.

We have a little bit convinced and my father inquired about Dhamtrip in depth. But he didn’t find any suspicious about them. At last, he agreed to trip to Bangkok- Pattaya.

First World Trip To Bangkok Bangkok is an awe-inspiring place for holidays! I explored Bangkok and Pattaya on the internet. I got to know that there are numbers of beaches where one can have the benefit of natural beauty that gives a serene and touching environment.  The tourists gratify in sunbathing, beach sports, comforting, and like to have a sip of coconut milk.

The first day we arrived at Bangkok Airport and there was a chauffeur waiting for us. We moved to Pattaya. It took around 2 hour’s journey. We were very excited. In Pattaya, we had check-in the Hotel Tycoon Suite. The hotel was very nice, neat and clean. Our rooms were great. I took the room from where we got a fantastic view. The rooms were very spacey and got all the amenities like Wi-Fi, LED TV, Bathtub, Sofa, Dining Table, refrigerator, etc. We had made round to see the hotel.

The hotel is newly built. It had an Indian restaurant where we enjoyed Indian food, a swimming pool in which we played a lot and the most important thing was that it was near to the market. There was a walking distance to the market of Pattaya. All the arrangements were exceptionally good.

The second day, the tour manager was come and explained that day schedule in the morning. He explicated that after breakfast we move to Coral Island. We got complimentary multi-cuisine breakfast. My mother is very particular about food and she liked the food a lot. The food was really palatable!

The coral island is approximately 7 km away from Pattaya. Subsequent to eating, we inspired an opportunity to ride in a speedboat in Coral Island. Coral Island is popular for the wonderful habitat having coral reefs with white-brilliant sand gives so much alleviating impact. In the speedboat, we appreciated the common excellence of the island and caught these excellent looks into the camera.

There were lots of other activities to do like parasailing, jet ski, hiking, shooting, Banana boat, etc. This was a half-day trip at the coral island. We enjoyed a lot. It was an amazing experience! First time I did the parasailing. It was great to fly like a bird. All the things seemed to be very small from the sky. After that, we did the ride on a banana boat. In starting the boat was slow and suddenly it took the speed. It seemed like we talked with the waves. Our boat cut the waves. It was really a heart-throbbing experience! My heartbeat was so fast even after the ride. They gave us a complimentary lunch also. There were both arrangements of non-veg and veg. There was a separate counter of non-veg. The tour manager told that both veg and non- veg preparation was totally separate. They were very careful that they mustn’t hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. The time passed so fast that we couldn’t notice that it was time to go to the hotel.

There was no specified program in the evening. We planned to see the Tiffany ladyboy Cabaret show. It is a transgender cabaret show that entertains the people from the last 40 years.  It was an incredible show. It is placed on the fourth number for the top ten best shows of the world. Their stage, costumes, lights, and music were wonderful. We hold our breath to see the performances of the ladyboys. Nobody judge about them that they were originally men.

After the show, we relaxed at the hotel. The next morning we had to depart for Bangkok. All the things were made as per schedule. After taking breakfast, we proceeded to Bangkok. We saw two Buddha temples en route to Bangkok. The temples were very serene. The environment was so pleasant and calm; anyone could forget all his worries in this environment. It was a perfect place to meditate. Nobody wanted to move from there as it was so tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. Everybody liked to soothe themselves and spend some time there.

The first time I visited the Buddha Temple and my experience was unforgettable. There I got a chance to know more about Buddha and his philosophy. All the things were etched in my mind.  All the way, we talked about the temples and memorable time spent in Pattaya. At last, we reached Bangkok. We had check-in the Hotel Howard Square. It was also as superb. Here, there was a small gym. My brother was very happy as he continued his exercise here also.

The next day there was no specified schedule. We were free. We woke up late morning and my brother went to a gym. We all were very tired as from the last two days we were traveling. We decided to go shopping. After taking our multi-cuisine complimentary breakfast, my father was talking to the Tour Manager to know where we went for shopping.  How to go there? He suggested boarding on Skytrain and two-three places for shopping.

Bangkok is famous as a shopping paradise. We went to the Grand Palace and strolled nearby areas. We took pleasure on the road of Bangkok. There we had a Thai massage and went to Chatuchak Market and bought many items from there. The market was very reasonable. Thai people were so great. Everybody welcomed us and ready to help.

We planned for Cruise Dinner at night. My father talked to our tour Manager and he organized a trip for us. It was an exclusive event for us. It was a small voyage on the ship and enjoyed the dinner with music, lights and live performances. The dinner was appetizing. There was both veg and non-veg varieties and had separate counters. This arrangement was best for people like my mother who don’t touch non-veg. All the preparations were separate, neat and clean. Before that we were searching veg outlets for her otherwise she took fruits.

The Cruise is open from the top so we could perceive the skyline of Bangkok and its surrounding areas. My younger sister was busy to capture these moments in her camera. She was very engaged in the snap the photos of gorgeous Bangkok. After that, we had transferred to the hotel. We slacken off in the hotel.

The next day we had to depart for India. Our tour manager came to meet us. We all thanked him for such wonderful arrangements!  All the things were as per the itinerary. We might get something extra but not less. We all were very happy especially my father who thanked me for my stubborn behavior to organize the trip.

After reaching India, my father made a call in Dhamtrip and thanked for an exclusive wonderful trip. Now, I and my family suggest Dhamtrip for any travel query. I highly obliged to Dhamtrip who make my dream true. If anybody has a dream to travel abroad, don’t wait and visit Dhamtrip to realize his dream.

Thanks, Dhamtrip for your mind-blowing services. Because of your sincere efforts, middle-class people will have an exotic trip.

I want to confess that I didn’t show my original pics as my family didn’t allow me.

This is a vocabulary and conversation activity for higher levels (high B2+) on the subject of travelling. Download the student handout and powerpoint below:

Holiday Destinations  – Powerpoint

UPDATE: I’ve combined this lesson plan with the “My Ideal Holiday” lesson.

In pairs students discuss the following questions

  • What’s the best place you’ve ever visited?
  • How often do you travel?
  • Do you have any trips planned for the near future?

Travel Expressions

Give out the handout. Have students read the texts and decide who they are most similar to. Let them share their ideas in pairs or small groups and give reasons for their answers.

Meaning Match

Have students match the expressions in bold with the definitions at the bottom.

  • get the travel bug.
  • catch some rays
  • travel light
  • at the crack of dawn
  • savour local delicacies
  • sit and watch the world go by
  • feel right at home
  • experience a culture shock
  • watch one’s back
  • a culture vulture
  • have everything planned out
  • travel on a shoestring
  • see how the mood takes one
  • off the beaten track

Students complete the sentences with the correct expressions:

Students discuss the following questions in groups of 3.

  • Do you travel light ? If so, how do you decide what to pack?
  • You have to watch your back when you’re travelling alone; there are a lot of dangerous people out there. Do you agree?
  • Which place that you’ve visited was the biggest culture shock ? Where did you feel right at home ? Why?
  • Do you normally travel on a shoestring or live it up ? How can you save money while travelling? Would you consider hitchhiking or couchsurfing?
  • Have you got the travel bug ? Have you got itchy feet ? If so, where’s next on the list?
  • Do you like to pack a lot in/have a full plate or see how the mood takes you when you’re travelling?
  • What’s the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by for you?
  • How important is it for you to catch some rays when you’re on holiday?
  • How do you choose a holiday destination? Are you a culture vulture ?

Holiday Destinations Discussion

Project the powerpoint, tell students that they are going to choose a holiday destination in their groups from a number of popular places around the world.

Show them the second slide and have them copy down the different expressions:

Then have students discuss the different holiday destinations in groups and decide on one which the whole group would like to visit.

Students could write a CAE/CPE style Proposal composition about the process of deciding on a holiday destination for the group. They could evaluate the different merits and drawbacks of three of the destinations from the powerpoint and recommend one as the destination for an end of year trip.

Alternatively they could write a review of a holiday to one of the places.

Let’s Know More on the Topic, ‘my Dream’

Man nurtures a dream in his heart with lots of love. The dream blossoms in early childhood or later in his life.  Everyone will have a goal in life and it is always set considering many factors like social recognition, monetary success, the preferred outcome of education, the manifestation of life’s values, and so on.

Dreams are very different from goals. Goals can be achieved with dedication and hard work. Dreams can be many but one should not expect all dreams will come true. It is shaped out of love and passion for something and associated with happiness and inner peace. Dreams are not restricted by social recognition but live completely from the heart. But no matter what the dream is, one needs to put in a lot of hard work and persist through tough times to achieve the dreams in his lifetime.

My Dream is to Travel Around the World

I’ve always dreamt of traveling around the globe. This is my dream, which keeps blowing like wind beneath my wings of imagination. I would love to become a globetrotter and travel around the world. Earlier, I used to juggle ideas of becoming a scientist or a pilot. Even at times, acting would appeal to me a lot but as time flew by, and I started reading more and more storybooks, dived deeper into myself, I realized nothing could make me happier than traveling. It will set me free from limiting thoughts and help me see the beauty of this world in an altogether new way.

Why do I Dream to be a Traveler?

One gets to experience and gain real knowledge of places, people, culture, food, heritage, and history. Travelling opens up one’s mind and brings one closer to nature. It also enables us to appreciate nature’s beauty no matter how small or big.  This goal of mine will not only take me to new places but will also enable me to meet people, learn new languages, and taste various cuisines. Can anything be better than this!

It would be amazing if my dream comes true. If I can tag along with a reputable travel channel and share my travel experiences in the form of a journal or a blog which will also fulfill my dream as a  travel writer or foreign correspondent!

What Does it Take to fulfill a Dream?

Self-belief, Determination, planning, motivation, and not feeling overburdened with the thoughts of achievement are the four things we need to fulfill our dreams. Well, my dream also requires capital but I’m sure I will plan my finances as and when I embark on that journey. I’m also good at cutting corners and know my way around traveling on a budget.

Self Belief

This is the first step towards fulfilling any dream. All the other factors are secondary. How can you achieve your dreams if you don’t believe in yourself? For example, a school student has a dream to be a star football player in his school.

Achieving this dream would be impossible if the student himself believes that he does not have the qualities of a star football player. Before becoming really good at it by practice, he has to first believe that he has all the necessary qualities to become a top football player. Only then will he put in the efforts required during practice time.

Similarly, no matter how big the dream is, it all starts with a positive self-belief in oneself to achieve his dreams and live the life of his or her choice.

Determination

Turning our dreams and making them a reality is indeed a vast task. Like all things we do, they have ups and downs. But we need to have iron-clad determination to fulfill the task and be patient. Strong determination will help us to choose the best course of action required for achieving our dreams and build a ‘never give up ‘ attitude even during hard times. This also encourages to do more and more and get an accuracy of satisfying performance.

Setting Up Short Term Goals

Achieving a dream is like climbing a ladder. No matter how grand our goal is, careful perfect planning is crucial for fulfilling it. Big goals should be broken down into small actionable steps. If we prepare small goals for our plan and each goal is a step closer towards our ultimate goal, achieving it will become an easier task. It is always a good idea to do SWOT Analysis and break your goals into; short term, middle term, and Long term.

Staying Motivated

Motivation is a very important one of the reasons why a  person might give up on his or her dream is due to lack of this motivation. On our journey to the peak, we may have to encounter a lot of failures. If you want to fulfill the dream then you should not give up and always should be motivated. Regularly reading books on motivation and personal development helps us to be on track to achieve our dreams, even after facing multiple failures. In an effort to stay motivated, we may indulge in rewarding ourselves for achieving the small targets that we had set for ourselves.

Do Not Feel Overburdened

It is not easy to reach a goal, it requires hard work. It is easy for one to overburden oneself with the work required to be done to achieve the desired success.  Never make it boring so just relax, take a break and come back again.  This will keep you motivated throughout.

By following these principles, we can definitely work to achieve our goals and make our dreams come true.

FAQs on What keeps you awake at Night?

1. Is it right that one should have a dream in life?

Yes. Everyone should dream and try to make it true. Remember that nothing is impossible. Living a life without any dreams is like driving a car without stopping for fuel anywhere. Eventually, in the end, the car will break down. Similarly, if we lack a dream in life, in the end, we will feel empty, no matter how long we live. Dreams fuel us to get up every day with a fire in our belly to take some effort and get closer to our goals throughout the day.

And no matter how tough it is, dreams should always be kept alive. It should never be allowed to die. Because if there are no dreams in one’s life, living a happy life becomes very difficult.

2. Can two people have the same dream in life?

Yes, many can have the same dream. And when we share our dreams, we understand the dreams of other people, their thoughts, and views towards life. Also, sharing our dreams helps us to achieve them faster. Because then 2 or more people are working towards achieving the dream and taking consistent action.

3. What are the factors that help us in achieving our dreams?

Dreams can be many but fulfilling all of them cannot be the same. Everyone has a dream, but very few are able to fulfill it. The reason for this is that fulfilling our dreams requires much more effort from our side than just watching a dream. Factors like positive attitude, self-belief, planning, setting goals diligently, consistency to work towards our goals, discipline, ability to get back up even after failing, making mistakes, learning from those mistakes, and making regular adjustments to our plans are a few of the factors necessary to achieve our goals and live the life of our dreams. Success is a continuous effort. The more consistent we are, the better we perform, and the closer we get to our dreams.

4. What is the purpose of having a dream in life?

Dreams are important for people of all ages. They consist of our deepest desires, our highest version of ourselves, and assist us in living a fully happy satisfied life. They provide a purpose, direction, and meaning in our lives. For example, if Elon musk hadn’t dreamt of living on the moon, the SpaceX company would have never come into existence. If Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had not dreamt of building a super powerful and safe missile, India would have never been known as the Nuclear country in the world.

It is these dreams that give us the power to be extraordinary and be a force of change in this world. Dreams that are longing for our attention and efforts for their fulfillment help us to be on a progressive track throughout our life.

I traveled to Monaco and experienced the F1 Grand Prix like a celebrity: Inside the parties, big race and more

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Attending the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco is a dream for most people — but mine became a reality last weekend when Page Six digital managing editor Ally D’Aluisio and I traveled from NYC to Monte Carlo for the big event.

The VIP treatment started as soon as we touched down in Nice, France, and were met by a Blade helicopter representative who escorted us from a commercial flight to a private vehicle that drove us straight to the airport’s helipad.

astra blade helicopter

Before I knew it, the copter had lifted off, and we were met with breathtaking views of the French Riviera.

In addition to the spectacular scenery, the helicopter flight gave us another beautiful gift — time.

Instead of making a drive that could take up to an hour, or being at the mercy of public transportation, we flew right over the water and arrived in Monaco in just seven minutes.

Before we knew it, we landed in the billionaires’ playground and made our way to the Fairmont Monte Carlo — and that’s where the fun officially began.

Monaco is known for its affluent residents and luxurious activities, but the sheer opulence of the country became apparent from the second I opened my eyes and saw numerous yachts right outside my balcony.

That number only grew as we got closer to Sunday’s Grand Prix, and soon enough you could hardly see the water due to the sheer amount of luxury vessels parked there.

The Circuit de Monaco is one of the most prestigious and challenging F1 tracks in the world, forcing drivers to complete 78 laps around the principality’s streets, which contain sharp turns, tunnels and more.

The track is known for its iconic hairpin curve, one of the most recognizable corners of the Monaco Grand Prix.

It is the slowest turn on the track, ensuring the best vantage point of the race cars — and we scored an exclusive invitation to Baccarat and Lilly’s coveted suite inside the Fairmont which overlooks it.

The vibe in the suite was pure elegance, with Baccarat crystals adorning the space and an award-winning bartender creating creating sophisticated, high-end cocktails.

And the luxe life didn’t stop there.

We were later escorted to Lilly’s nightclub for an exclusive tour, during which the entrance was lined with more than $50 million worth of cars.

Before even walking inside the club we saw a Bugatti, Pagani, McLaren and even a silver Porsche 550 Spyder — the type of car in which James Dean died.

Monaco is known to be the home of some of the most prestigious clubs on the French Riviera, and nights can get pretty wild when the Grand Prix rolls around.

Lilly’s had an incredible three-night lineup of deejays the Martinez Brothers, Rampa and Peggy Gou, followed by a closing evening performance by Travis Scott.

Celebrities including Odell Beckham Jr., Winnie Harlow, Kyle Kuzma, Will.i.am and Jason Oppenheim flocked to the club to catch the performances .

Joe Jonas monaco grand prix 2024

There were bottles poppin’ and caviar bumps flowing — and just like the stars , I had to take part in the festivities.

On Sunday, I felt like a champion watching the Grand Prix from the Nikki Beach rooftop, where celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and the Hadid sisters have partied in the past.

But the real winner of the weekend was 26-year-old Charles Leclerc, who became the first Monégasque to win the Monaco Grand Prix in 93 years — a dream he’s had since he was a child.

Charles Leclerc monaco grand prix

He celebrated his first victory in his hometown with the Ferrari Formula 1 team by diving headfirst into Port Hercules wearing an almost $300,000 Richard Mille watch that, fortunately, is water-resistant up to 30 meters.

After spending a week taking in the sights, sounds, food and shopping excursions, as well as attending the most sought-out motorsport in the world, attending the Monaco Grand Prix finally has been checked off my bucket list.
