Tupaki Review
Behind the Movie Tupaki: While AR Murugadoss has a brand value in Andhra Pradesh, it is the presence of Vijay which could keep the hype surrounding this project a bit low. However, it is too late for a review from our side and sorry for that. Let us see, whether this 'Tupaki' has enough ammunition in it to trigger the BO or not?
In the Movie Tupaki: Jagdeesh (Vijay) is an intelligent Indian Army Officer off to Mumbai to enjoy a vacation. Family of Jagdeesh is in hunt for a right bride and they find Nisha (Kajal Agarwal) as an apt match. Although reluctant early, once Jagdeesh understands the real side of Nisha, the love track deepens. In this mean time of romance, accidentally Jagdeesh happens to bump into a sleeper cell terrorist in a local bus. Into action, Jagdeesh teams up with his old batchmates to upset the terrorist plan of 12 serial bomb blasts planned in Mumbai. Frustrated by this, the Master mind and terrorist head behind (Vidyut Jamwal) enters into scene to take it face to face with Jagdeesh. Did Vidyut's plan to lay a trap for Jadgeesh was successful? Was Jagdeesh enough talented to put an end to sleeper cell network forms the rest.
Values of the Movie Tupkai: The one invaluable quality AR Murugadoss blessed with is, his knack of commercializing aky kind of subject. In fact, none could have made this kind of gripping action thriller with a simple sleeper cell terrorist concept which isn't touched in depth by any director in India. The kind of hold Muruga has on screen-play writing was evidential throughout the second half. Our Telugu audience would easily forget that we are watching a Tamil to Telugu dubbed film because of the intensity packed. Meanwhile, the romantic track weaved into the story is actually a weak thread which distrubed the actual soul and feel. Cinematography of Santosh Sivan is just top notch and Sreekar Prasad could have been better in the boring love track. After enjoying extra-ordinary tunes and exhilarating back-ground from Harris Jayaraj, we expect much more than this. Dialogues were just okay. Production values of Gemini FIlm Circuit and SVR Media are worth appreciable.
Performance wise, Vijay's character has been underplayed for major time and that has become the blessing in disguise. Compared to past flicks like 'Snehithudu,' the way Vijay directed his energies into simple yet stylish action episodes made him a winner. Next in the list comes is Vidyut Jamwal. Utilizing the biggest of opportunity offered, Vidyut's muscular body and handsome looks give a new flavor to villainsm. The less we speak, it would be more better about Kajal who is just portioned for songs and romance. Of the remaining we can only remind, Sathyan and Jairam who were just fit to their comic portions.
Out of the Movie Tupaki: The best memories which striked my thoughts watching 'Tupaki' were about Venkatesh's 'Gharshana.' Director Muruga has cooked a recipee which is similar to Gautham. Yet, both are different in their own versions. Scripts like 'Tupaki' need more of the hardwork on visualization. When you are presenting the same on screen in the form of mind games between antagonist and protagonist, viewers should feel the goose bumps else your attempts go in vain. When we have some one like Muruga leading from front, even the expression face like Vijay too becomes engaging. Same happened here and Vijay might find some part of his dream to form a market in Tollywood will be fulfilled.
While first half is a bit entertaining with romantic track, introduction to sleeper cells in Mumbai, narration changes the gear and suddenly we get too much involved into the bloodshed of pre-interval episodes. Then second half is entirely the magic of Murugadoss while the tasteless love episodes and placement of songs pulls down the anxiety. So, overall the graph goes up and down till a much more desired climax.
Commercially, 'Tupaki' might be a profitable project in Tamil because of Vijay factor. When target audience for this kind of action thrillers form a low minortiy core, it is difficult to anticipate on where the Telugu version will land. For regular audience, think before getting in and for hardcore Muruga admirers, don't miss this. He has got ammunition right this time.

Telugu Industry has always been very welcoming to our Tamil heroes, including Rajini, Kamal, Suriya, Karthi, Vikram, Jiiva and Vishal all having a market and solid hits to their credit. Among the leading heroes in Tamil, Vijay, Ajith and Simbu have not be able to give a Rs.10 Crore+ grosser in Telugu so far. Tupaki (Telugu dubbed version of Thuppakki) may finally be able to give Vijay the much awaited lucky break in Telugu. Thanks to good reviews and lack of competition (since much-hyped Anushka and Nagarjun starrer Damarukam expected to release on Diwali was delayed for the third time due to financial reasons ), Tupaki has taken the spot light and expected to bring in good collections in Andhra Pradesh .
Let's look at the excerpts from media reviews and see what Telugu critics are saying about Tupaki and Vijay's performance,
Post Noon gave thumbs up for Tupaki and rated it 3.5/5. The review concluded it’s won’t blow your brains away, but it’s definitely worth watching. Reviewer Hemant called Vijay as the backbone of the film and thought he was fabulous as an army officer.
123Telugu rated it 3.5 out of 5 and called the movie hits the bulls eye. The final verdict was "A stylish Vijay, some exceptional thrilling moments and edge of the seat action makes this film surely worth a watch. Finally, one can say that yet another Tamil hero has successfully managed to capture the hearts of Telugu audience."
Tupaki hits the target called GreatAndhra with a rating of 3/5. It went on to say the film stands as a platform for Vijay's career in Tollywood. This is not a Diwali Thupaki but a real one with ample bullets in it.
Jeevi of Idlebrain rated it 3.25/5/ and said AR Murugadoss who disappointed with 7th Sense strikes back with Tupaki. This popular reviewer also appreciated Vijay for being suave and sophisticated in the role that need brains.
Gulte.com complimented Vijay for doing a neat job as the lead man and went on to say "despite having no image in Andhra Pradesh, people would love to see him as the lead. His sweet yet powerful performance is the reason for it. Vijay is yet to score a hit in Telugu and this time he has every chance to register his first success."
Based on the unanimous positive reviews from public and media, Tupaki in all probability should give Vijay a strong entry into Telugu market.

Vijay is a huge superstar in Tamil, but has a very nominal market in Telugu. He tried to venture into Tollywod with the film Snehitulu, but to his bad luck failed to capitalize. Now yet again, he is back with his Diwali release Thuppakki in the direction of creative genius Murugadoss. After some delay in its release, Thuppaki has manged to hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is. Story:
Jagdish, who is a secret agent in Indian army comes to his native place during his holidays. His parents get him engaged to Nisha(Kajal Agarwal) and the couple start spending some quality time together. When everything seems to be going fine Jagish visits Mumbai. During his stay, a huge bomb blast occurs and Jagdish chases down the culprit and interrogates him severely. To his surprise, he comes to know that there are many more bombs that have been planted right through the entire city. Rest of the story is how Jagdish manages to chase down the other terrorists, and save the whole city from huge devastation.
Plus Points:-
Vijay is undoubtedly the major asset to the film. Unlike his mass image, he plays a mature character and carries it with ease. He plays his role with lot of conviction, and is terrific in the investigative scenes. His body language, comedy timing and look are perfect in Thuppakki. Though Kajal Agarwal has nothing much to do in the film, she complimented Vijay very nicely in the dances. Kajal is particularly good in the Google song.
Vidyut Jamwal is impressive as the bad guy. Scenes just before the interval involving the killing of terrorists, have been shot exceptionally well. Interaction scenes between the hero and the villain and the mind games associated with them, have been designed exceptionally. Some scenes in the pre-climax are worth a mention and make you stick to your seats.
Minus Points:-
Chemistry between Vijay and Kajal is completely lacking in this film. All the scenes, songs and romantic track sometimes cause a big hindrance to the film. Timing of the songs is also not up to the mark. The mass masala elements which the regular movie goer associates with a hero like Vijay is missing here.
Technical Aspects:-
The music of the film is pretty average. As the combination of Murugadoss and Harris Jayraj are known for some foot tapping music, it is completely missing from this film. Background score is pretty good and is exceptional in all investigation scenes. Santosh Sivan’s camera work is good. Screenplay is nice. Some scenes between Vijay and Kajal could have been completely chopped off to make this film more gripping. Vijay’s dubbing is apt and suits the nativity well.
On the whole, Thuppakki is one film which has everything going right for it. A stylish Vijay, some exceptional thrilling moments and edge of the seat action makes this film surely worth a watch. Finally, one can say that yet another Tamil hero has successfully managed to capture the hearts of Telugu audience.

The basic story is about the mind game between a terrorist and a secret agent. Murugadoss comes up with an interesting screenplay that makes you glued to the screen all the time. The interesting aspect in this film is that the hero and villain doesn’t physically meet each other till the climax. And they try to outsmart each other with cold-blooded thinking all the time. To make this film more universal, Murugadoss also added the family angle and romance thread. The romance aspect of the film is also good.
Cinematography by Santosh Sivan is of top notch quality. Background music by Harris Jayaraj is good, but tunes for the songs should have been better. Dialogues are neat and editing is crisp. Action sequences' choreography is stylish. This film is made with slick production values.

Two Telugu Directors Who Presented Amitabh In The Best Way!
The legendary actor played the role of ashwatthama in the movie and he was presented as a very powerful man.
'Kalki 2898 AD' is out now and it is created one record after another. Nag Ashwin made a grand film and created a universe that stunned everyone. While the audience were glad to see Prabhas in an entertaining role after a long time, they were equally impressed by the way Amitabh Bachchan was showcased.
The legendary actor played the role of Ashwatthama in the movie and he was presented as a very powerful man. He in fact dominated Prabhas in every fight and it is great to see an 81-year-old man still showing that hunger to pick up such massive roles. His makeup and looks were fantastic. The audience in the North were shocked to see Amitabh in such a strong role.
Most of the Bollywood directors failed to show the biggest star of India in a powerful manner. He did roles in big movies like 'Thugs Of Hindustan', 'Brahmastra' and more but he was not presented in a way that he deserved. It is a young director from Tollywood who showcased him in the best way possible. Even before Nag Ashwin, it was Amitabh Bachchan's ardent fan Ram Gopal Varma who showed him as a powerful hero in 'Sarkar' trilogy.
Amitabh did many challenging roles that showcased the actor in him but it is these two directors who presented him as the star who once ruled Indian cinema.

క‌రోనా త‌ర్వాత ధనుష్ సినిమాలు ఎక్కువ‌గా ఓటీటీ వేదిక‌ల్లోనే విడుద‌ల‌య్యాయి. దాదాపు ఏడాదిన్న‌ర త‌ర్వాత ఆయన నటించిన ‘తిరు’ థియేట‌ర్ల‌లో విడుద‌లైంది. త‌మిళంలో తెర‌కెక్కిన ‘తిరు చిత్రాంబ‌ళం’కి అనువాదం ఇది. 2019 నుంచే ప్ర‌చారంలో ఉన్న ఈ సినిమా అంచ‌నాల మ‌ధ్య ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకొచ్చింది. మ‌రి చిత్రం ఎలా ఉంది? ధనుష్ పాత్ర ఏంటి?
క‌థేంటంటే: తిరు ఏకాంబ‌రం అలియాస్ పండు (ధనుష్) ఫుడ్ డెలివ‌రీ బాయ్‌. చిన్న‌ప్పుడు హుషారైన, తెలివైన కుర్రాడే. కానీ, త‌న జీవితంలో జ‌రిగిన ఓ సంఘ‌ట‌న‌తో మధ్య‌లోనే కాలేజీ మానేస్తాడు. భ‌య‌స్తుడిలా మారిపోతాడు. త‌న తండ్రి (ప్రకాష్రాజ్), తాత సీనియ‌ర్ పండు (భారతీరాజా)తో క‌లిసి జీవిస్తుంటాడు. చిన్న‌ప్ప‌ట్నుంచీ స్నేహితురాలైన శోభ‌న (నిత్యమేనన్) కుటుంబం కూడా అదే అపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌లో కింద పోర్ష‌న్‌లో ఉంటుంది. ఒక‌రి గురించి ఒక‌రికి బాగా తెలిసిన ఆ ఇద్ద‌రి మ‌ధ్య దాపరికాలంటూ ఏమీ ఉండ‌వు. అనూష (రాశిఖ‌న్నా), రంజ‌ని (ప్రియ భవానీ శంకర్)ల‌పై తిరు మ‌న‌సు ప‌డ్డాడ‌ని తెలుసుకున్న శోభ‌న ఆ విషయంలో సాయం కూడా చేస్తుంది. మ‌రి తిరు చివ‌రికి ఎవ‌రిని ప్రేమించాడు? అత‌ని జీవితంలో చోటు చేసుకున్న సంఘ‌ట‌న ఏమిటనేది మిగ‌తా క‌థ.
ఎలా ఉందంటే: మ‌ధ్య త‌ర‌గ‌తి యువ‌త‌రం జీవితాల్ని ప్ర‌తిబింబిస్తూ సాగే ఓ ప్రేమ‌క‌థ ఇది. ఈ క‌థ, నేప‌థ్యం కొత్త‌దేమీ కాదు. కానీ, దర్శకుడు తెలిసిన ఆ క‌థనే కొత్త‌గా, ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా భావోద్వేగాల్ని మేళ‌విస్తూ తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధం తిరు పాత్ర, కుటుంబ నేప‌థ్యం ధనుష్ ఇదివ‌ర‌కు చేసిన ‘ర‌ఘువ‌ర‌న్ బి.టెక్‌’ని గుర్తు చేస్తుంది. ఈ కథలో స్నేహం, ప్రేమ వంటి విష‌యాలు ‘నువ్వే కావాలి’ని కూడా పోలి ఉంటాయి. స్నేహితురాలైన శోభ‌న‌తో క‌లిసి చేసే ప్ర‌యాణం... అనూష‌పై ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ త‌దిత‌ర స‌న్నివేశాలు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. పక్కింటి అబ్బాయి, అమ్మాయి జీవితాల్ని చూస్తున్న అనుభూతి క‌లుగుతుంది. తిరు త‌న తాత సీనియ‌ర్ పండుతో క‌లిసి చేసే హంగామా న‌వ్విస్తుంది. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు త‌న త‌ల్లి గురించి భావోద్వేగానికి గుర‌య్యే స‌న్నివేశాలు ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్‌పై ఎప్ప‌టిక‌ప్పుడు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తుంటాయి. ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్‌లో ఏముందో అనే ఆత్రుత క‌లుగుతుంది.
అక్క‌డ పెద్ద క‌థేమీ ఉండ‌దు కానీ, అది సినిమాపై చాలా ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంది. చిన్న చిన్న విష‌యాలు కూడా జీవితంపై ఎంత ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంటాయో ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో చెప్పిన తీరు మెప్పిస్తుంది. ద్వితీయార్ధం సినిమాలో భావోద్వేగాలపై మ‌రింత ప‌ట్టు ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించాడు దర్శకుడు. అక్క‌డ తిరు, రంజ‌ని ప్రేమ‌క‌థ కీల‌కం. పల్లెటూరి నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డా న‌వ్విస్తాయి. తిరు, శోభ‌న బంధం నేప‌థ్యంలో వ‌చ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్ని ఉత్కంఠ‌గా మార్చేస్తాయి. ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు ఒక ద‌శ‌లో ‘తొలిప్రేమ’ని గుర్తు చేస్తాయి. కానీ, దర్శకుడు వాటిని సినిమాటిక్‌గా కాకుండా, స‌హ‌జంగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ధ‌నుష్‌లాంటి ఓ పెద్ద స్టార్ ఉన్న‌ప్ప‌టికీ ఎలాంటి హీరోయిక్ స‌న్నివేశాలు లేకుండా... కొన్ని జీవితాల్ని ద‌గ్గ‌ర నుంచి చూసిన అనుభూతిని పంచేలా ఈ సినిమాని తీర్చిదిద్దిన విధానం మెప్పిస్తుంది.

Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review Ratings: Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review Ratings: Pan-India star Prabhas has been doing high-budget and star-studded films after his image grew manifold after Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2. The actor's latest is a science fiction actioner with a mythological connection and the most expensive movie ever made in India.
Using a staggering budget of Rs 600 Crore and starring legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone among others, Nag Ashwin's directorial hit the screens worldwide to sky-high expectations on June 27.
Story: Kalki 2898 AD is the story of three cities in the post-apocalyptic world named Kashi, Shambala, and the Complex. The Rebels and refugees living in Shambala fight against the atrocities of the Complex, ruled by Supreme Yaskin. Bhairava (Prabhas) is a bounty hunter who always dreams of going to the Complex by earning 1 million units. When SUM 80 aka Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), manages to escape the Complex, Bhairava and Ashwattama fight for her for two different agendas. The people of Shambala believe Sumathi is believed to be the mother who births the hope (Kalki) for tomorrow.
Technical Aspects:
The movie screams quality and rich visuals, which takes it a notch higher for an Indian film of the sci-fi genre. The set designs of Kashi, Shambala, and Complex are carefully designed to stick to the time the story was established. Nag Ashwin had conceived a great idea to mix mythology with the future but slightly deviated from the form when it came to the film's screenplay and storytelling.
The background score composed by Santhosh Narayanan was only adequate and didn't stand out. The dubbing and the dialogue diction of the characters could've been better. The visual effects and the stunning visuals bring a Hollywood-style theatrical experience.
Performances:
Prabhas as Bhairava did what was expected of him with ease and carried the entire film with his image single-handedly. Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwattama is a befitting choice. The veteran is a delight to watch on the screen in his get-up. Deepika Padukone gets a meaty role and her character drives the entire story from 3100 BC to 2898 AD. Kamal Haasan as the Supreme Yaskin commands attention for as much as his time on the screen. Brahmanandam, Shobana, Rajendra Prasad, and others appeared in small roles which they cake-walked. However, Disha Patani's character Roxy is just wasted and redundant.

Kalki 2898 AD Review: This is the day we all have been waiting for. Nag Ashwin’s much-awaited movie, Kalki 2898 AD is finally here. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in the lead, the film is now in theatres and is definitely worth a watch.
Warning: Possible Spoilers Ahead: Kalki 2898 AD heavily draws from Mahabharata and the Kalki Purana. It is set in Kashi – a city that has mythological significance among Hindus in India. In the film, it has been described as the last city in the world where humans can survive with water and food availability. A unique blend of Hindu mythology and science fiction, Kalki revolves around a modern avatar of Lord Vishnu, who has descended on Earth to protect the world from the forces of evil.
The story begins in Kaashi, a land rich in resources, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character, who demands complete loyalty. A prophecy reveals a child will overthrow him, and Deepika Padukone’s character, Sumathi carries this child. To protect his reign, the king puts a bounty on her head. Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, a top hunter, believes it’s his destiny to capture her. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama aims to protect her.
Amitabh Bachchan is one of the biggest reasons one should watch this film. He plays the role of Ashwatthama and proves why he is the superstar of Indian cinema. Kalki begins with a younger version of Big B. It makes you feel nostalgic and reminds you of all the films that Amitabh did in his early days. At 81, he performs all his scenes, even action sequences, with utmost perfection. His fight with Prabhas is a treat for all. Dare not to blink even for a second.
Kalki is an out-and-out Amitabh film. Even though we see very little of him in the first half, the actor’s screen time increases in the second half. The intensity with which he delivers his dialogues is worth praise. Overall, Amitabh Bachchan shines in the film and makes you bow down to him with respect.
On the other hand, Prabhas looks super cool in the film. His long-haired avatar and casual approach towards his scenes are worth a watch. Prabhas’ Bhairava and Bujji add an element of humour to Kalki. Even though Prabhas’ action sequences in the first half lack energy, in the second half, he stuns all with his fierce avatar. His fight with Amitabh Bachchan surely deserves a special mention and is one of the major highlights of the film. He is the modern-day Karn you will surely love to watch.
Deepika Padukone plays the role of a Sumathi, who holds the future of Kashi in her hand. It is believed, that she is carrying lord Vishnu’s avatar in her belly. Deepika, who is also expecting her first child with Ranveer Singh in real life, is proudly seen flaunting her baby bump in the movie. She not only looks the prettiest but also performs her scene with grace and beauty. She manages to portray several emotions – confusion, happiness, and fear with perfection. Surely, Deepika is a delight to watch on screen.
Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan plays the role of Yaskin in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. He gets very little screen time in the film but plays with his expressions very well. Kalki ends with an assurance that Kamal Haasan’s character is going to develop big in the film’s sequel.
Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma and Mrunal Thakur also make special appearances in the film which will be some wonderful treats to fans. Vijay Deverakonda also appears as Mahabharat’s Arjun in the film. He impresses with his charm and manages to show his acting prowess in the little time he gets. Maybe it’s time for Vijay Deverakonda to sign a mythological film, surely audiences will love it after his cameo in Kalki.
Kalki 2898 AD will surely remind you of some Hollywood films like Dune or Mad Max. It is primarily because of the visual setting of the film. It is a desert-like visual theme of the movie which might remind you of Dune. But the two films are entirely different.
Director Nag Ashwin deserves a pat on the back for the efforts he has put in to take Indian cinema to the global level with this film. His film’s climax will remind you of Avengers: Endgame or any other Marvel movie. Ashwin did not digress from his script, churned out the best of all actors, and spent much time on VFX to make it look ‘futuristic’. He also mixed Mahabharat with today’s world in a very well-defined way. He does not let either of them overpower the other and manages to strike a balance. However, the director should have paid much more attention to the action sequences in the first half. They look weak and leave you disappointed.
Even the writing of the first half lacked the punch. It is boring and confusing but wait for the second half of the film. The film develops post-interval and starts to fall into place. You finally begin to understand what was happening in the first half and the plot becomes clear. It then plays on the intriguing factor and makes you wonder, ‘What will happen next?’ It combines action with visual spectacle and mythology with technology and science – which makes the film worth watching.
The film ends on a high note and leaves you with several questions – Who will be Deepika’s child? How will Amitabh’s Ashwathama protect Deepika? What does Kamal Haasan’s character want? Will Prabhas realise his true powers? What is Project K? How will the battle between science and mythology end?
