Sardar movie review: Karthi shines as an action star in this flawed but watchable spy thriller

Sardar movie review: karthi-starrer spy thriller is engaging and fun despite several glaring flaws largely due to some brilliant action and the lead star..

PS Mithran is the kind of filmmaker you want to take seriously because he wants to constantly push the envelope. After making a smashing debut with Irumbu Thirai – a terrific cybercrime thriller, he followed it up with the critically acclaimed superhero thriller Hero. Mithran now makes a noteworthy comeback with Sardar, which is a fairly engaging spy thriller that addresses a very pressing issue. Despite a largely predictable second half, Sardar has some very interesting stretches and it genuinely wants to introduce Tamil audiences to the world of spies. The outcome isn’t pathbreaking but it definitely leaves you with the feeling that this story had a lot of potential. Also read: Karthi on PS1 and Sardar

Karthi plays inspector Vijay Prakash, who is hungry for publicity and would do anything to make the headlines. Thanks to his sincere efforts, Tamil Nadu Police has been a topic of constant discussion on social media. However, Vijay’s commitment towards his work is marred on account of his father, a former spy who has been branded a traitor by the government. Vijay is only looked at as the son of a spy who betrayed his own nation and this makes him grow more bitter towards his father.

When an important file goes missing from the hidden vault of R&AW wing, Vijay makes it his life’s mission to catch the person who stole the file. In the process, Vijay learns that his father, once branded as a traitor, has been rotting in a prison in Bangladesh for 32 years. Karthi also plays the father, who goes by the code name Sardar. As Vijay tries to unearth more information about his father, the story introduces him as a stage artist turned spy in the flashback. The rest of the story is about Vijay trying to find out if his father really went rogue and turned against his own nation.

Tamil cinema has had very few spy films over the years and Mithran’s Sardar, despite its share of glaring flaws, is definitely a solid addition to the list. Sardar stays as much as rooted as possible in its attempt to explore the spy genre, and that’s something that really works in the film’s favour. It’s the rootedness of the film that makes it largely entertaining.

The only major complaint with Sardar is when it also wants to become an awareness film when it talks about water mafia and how multinational corporations are cashing in on the high demand for clean drinking water. This is where the film really struggles to stay relevant and gradually turns into a boring lecture. At some point, the film isn’t sure whether it wants to be a spy film (which it could’ve been more effectively if only it didn’t try to preach a message) or an awareness film on water mafia. Bhavesh Joshi, for instance, also addressed this issue of water mafia but it left a stronger impact as a superhero film that wants to fix a problem. Unfortunately, Sardar wants to be both a spy film as well as a message-heavy awareness film and the outcome isn’t wholesomely satisfying.

Sardar is still a watchable spy thriller that’s powered by some great action set pieces. Karthi as Sardar, a spy in his 60’s, makes action look so effortless. His introduction scene amidst a prison riot has to be one of the best sequences of the movie. The action is very smartly choreographed, especially when it involves Sardar, who can’t fight like a typical hero who is in his 20s or 30s. The young Karthi is more of a crowd-pleasing character which is fun to watch initially but gets lost with no purpose in the second half of the movie. The young Rithvik is easily one of the better written child characters in recent years. He has such incredibly good screen presence.

A fantastic spy thriller. A stellar performance by Karthi as Sardar. Pulling off a dual role with opposite characterisation is not a small task. The storyline is nice. Screenplay is excellent. Cinematography deserves an applause. Action sequences are superb. The parallel screenplay scenes are excellent. A must watch movie for Spy/Action/thriller movie lovers.&nbsp;

Sardar Is A Superbly Staged, Though Uncomfortably Sepia Toned Thriller

A masterclass of staging, the world of Sardar is established with style, dramatic intensity, and when needed, that silly comedic charm. The imagination of its maker — PS Mithran — bends just as easily towards silliness as it does towards style, such are the gruelling demands from a mass film director. In the first half there are two sweaty fight sequences. One is corny, the kind where the sound of a bell is heard when the balls of a goon are smashed. The other is all oiled-up swagger, the pre-interval blast that pulsates with both anticipation and excitement. Both are performed by Karthi in a double role, and Mithran stages both, making ample use of the space it is set in — the stacked, empty, noisy cans of a water factory in the former that reflect and refract light beautifully, and the tight walled-in corridor of a jail in the latter.

We are introduced to Inspector R Vijayaprakash, an effective, efficient police officer who hungers for internet fame. He is muscling through Chennai, making the police trend on Twitter — for good reasons, mind you. Soon we realise this isn’t a character quirk as much as it is an overcompensation. Vijayaprakash has been told that his father, the R&AW spy Sardar, betrayed the country and that his entire family collectively died by suicide because of this blot on their reputation. When he applies to be part of the police force, he needs to sign a certificate renouncing his father and his legacy. So, to distract from his past, he pursues a present so colourful and loud, you cannot look past it. The silliness and humour that I mentioned above is as much a genre demand as it is a character demand, both blending seamlessly.

The film tracks his journey uncovering the truth about how Sardar was framed with the help of his friend, a lawyer with a deep activist conscience that he is smitten by, Shalini (Rashi Khanna). This isn’t love that is charming or evolving. It is a stagnant pool, which the film sheds interest in after a while. We are told they have known each other for years, and that is that.

The moral puzzle at the centre of the film is regarding water. How corporations are bottling this water, a public good, and selling it to us at exorbitant rates in plastic that leaks its toxicity into the water, killing children. Like any eat-the-rich, self-respecting Tamil film, Sardar links this to the broader cultural phenomena, with clips from Bolivia and Philippines, where the water wars have shed civilian blood. This cobbling together of country names is affecting, not just because water wars are imminent but because of how the film frames this moral monologue. There is that silly, verbal tic, where it has to explain everything. But that these monologues come from an activist (Laila) whose politics is personal, adds to the heft of a scene; her emotionally intelligent son (Rithvik) is dying because of the toxins ingested from plastic bottled water.

The villain, the man who wants to build a pan-Indian pipeline to control all the water is Rathore — a name and an actor, Chunky Pandey, pulled from the North, because such is South Indian villainy. He is an advisor to the government, and with the help of Chinese moles within the administration, has convinced everyone that this is a good idea — even the International Court of Justice, at the Hague. There is something meaty here, the idea of a corporate entity so monopolising, so powerful, so close to political power, that it subverts justice in favour of profits. Sounds familiar?

We are told Sardar — with a stitched white beard and sagging skin that can only be described as prosthetic — has 8 passports, and speaks 24 languages, a fact that is flung at us without needing any additional scene expressing this, showing us that, indeed, this is a man of many tongues. We are told that he was trained by Rathore, and even this is a fact we must forcefully swallow because the film isn’t passing us the, ahem, "water" to make it more palatable. Chunky Pandey’s frame is so lithe, his acting so cartoonishly menacing that it is impossible to see how Rathore imparted either brawn or brain to Sardar. Have we forgotten how to write good villains?

The second half is a quick, almost reckless recap of Sardar’s life, where we are introduced to his wife (Rajisha Vijayan) — but just like with Shalini here, too, is a love that is established already before we lay eyes on it; that the two have known each other for decades. Perhaps Mithran just does not see how their love is essential to this story except to create biological links across generations. That’s fair. This is, afterall, a film that is about a father and son. Why layer it with desire? It also allows Karthi to flex the acting muscles he excels at — self assured bravado — without letting him slip up, as he usually does when it comes to expressing love.

Sardar ’s long agitated shots, the dramatic staging of seas and ships, of scale and sweep, of dams and damsels, is so effective, it hurts that Mithran and his cinematographer George C. Williams decided to douse the frames in this designer-dusty sepia grime. The film looks dull, and the world lethargic. This is something both Mithran and Williams pursued from Irumbu Thirai (2018) through Hero (2019) to Sardar . I can only hope they reconsider this aesthetic bulldozing of anything beautiful, tender, or real.

சர்தார் Review - ‘சோதனை’களைத் தாண்டி கிட்டும் வித்தியாசமான விருந்து!

ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனும் தனக்கென அடையாளத்தை தேடிக்கொண்டிருக்க, தனக்கான அடையாளங்கள் மறைக்கப்பட்டு வாழும் ஓர் உளவாளியின் வாழ்க்கையே 'சர்தார்'. 'நாலு பேருக்கு செய்யும் உதவி குறைந்தது 40 ஆயிரம் பேருக்காவது தெரிய வேண்டும்' என்ற விளம்பர எண்ணத்தோடும், நாகரிக சமூகத்தின் டிரெண்டிங் மோகத்துடனும் இருக்கும் போலீஸ் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் விஜய பிரகாஷ் (கார்த்தி) பாதுகாப்புக்கு செல்லும் இடத்தில் முக்கியமான ஃபைல் காணாமல் போகிறது. இந்திய உளவுத் துறை அளவுக்கு தீவிரமாக பேசப்படும் இந்த விவகாரத்தில் காணாமல் போன ஃபைலை கண்டுபிடித்தால் இன்னும் டிரெண்ட் ஆகலாம் என்கிற நினைப்பில் விஜய பிரகாஷ் விசாரணையில் இறங்குகிறார். அப்படி தேடிச் செல்லும்போது நடக்கும் எதிர்பாரா சம்பவங்கள் விஜய பிரகாஷின் பிளாஷ்பேக் வாழ்க்கையையும், அதில் மறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள உண்மையையும், ரியல் 'சர்தார்' யார் என்பதையும் வெளிக்கொண்டு வருகிறது என்பதே 'சர்தார்' படத்தின் திரைக்கதை.

இயக்குநர் பிஎஸ் மித்ரன் படத்துக்காக எடுத்துக்கொண்ட மையக்கருவான தண்ணீர் அரசியல் குறித்து பேசும் விஷயங்கள் மிக முக்கியம். புனைவாக இருந்தாலும் அதில் சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ள தகவல்கள் மூலம் குடிக்கும் தண்ணீர் உலகில் எவ்வாறு அரசியலாக்கப்படுகிறது, எப்படி வியாபாரமாக்கப்படுகிறது என்பதை தோலுரித்து காட்ட முற்பட்டிருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர். இவற்றோடு தேசத்துக்காக அடையாளங்களை தொலைத்து மறைமுகமாக வாழும் உளவாளிகள் சந்திக்கும் இன்னல்களையும், ராணுவ வீரர்களுக்காக இணையாக மதிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய உளவாளிகளின் தியாகங்களும் உழைப்புகளும் எவ்வாறு மலிவான அரசியல்களால் தேசத் துரோகமாக மாற்றப்படுகிறது என்பதையும் பேச நினைத்துள்ளார். தமிழ் சினிமாவில் இதுவரை ராணுவ வீரர்களை மட்டுமே கொண்டாடிவந்த நிலையில் உளவாளிகளின் வாழ்க்கையையும் மக்கள் மத்தியில் காண்பித்தது புது முயற்சி.

மித்ரன் நினைத்த உளவாளி மற்றும் 'விளம்பர பிரியர்' இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் பாத்திரங்களுக்கு இரட்டை வேடம் மூலம் உயிர் கொடுத்துள்ளார் கார்த்தி. ‘சிறுத்தை’ படத்துக்குப் பிறகு இரட்டை வேடம். அதிலும் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் கேரக்டர் சிறுத்தை போலீஸை நியாபகப்படுத்த முயன்றுள்ளது. ஆனால், சிறுத்தையில் இருந்த போலீஸ் கார்த்தியின் கம்பீரம் இதில் மிஸ்ஸிங். ஜாலியாக ஆரம்பித்தாலும் விஜய பிரகாஷ் பாத்திரத்தின் தன்மை போகப் போக கம்பீரத்தையும் உற்சாகத்தையும் இழந்து பாடத்தின் முதல் பாதியை அயர்ச்சியாக்குகிறது. அதேநேரம், உளவாளி கார்த்தியின் கேரக்டருக்கு இயக்குநர் கொடுத்துள்ள வடிவமைப்பும், அதற்காக கார்த்தி காட்டிய மென்கெடல்களும் ரசிக்கும்படியாக உள்ளன.

ராஷி கண்ணா மற்றும் ரஜிஷா விஜயன் என படத்தில் இரண்டு கதாநாயகிகள். இரண்டு பேருக்குமே சம பங்கான ரோல். மனதில் நிற்கும்படியான பாத்திரமாக இல்லையென்றாலும் கிடைத்த வாய்ப்புக்கு ஏற்றவாறு இருவருமே நடித்துள்ளனர். நடிகை லைலா இப்படத்தின் மூலம் தமிழ் சினிமாவில் ரீ-என்ட்ரி கொடுத்துள்ளார். சிறிதுநேரமே வந்தாலும் வழக்கத்திற்கு மாறான லைலாவாக முக்கிய ரோலை கையாண்டுள்ளார். இவர்களை விடுத்து முனீஷ் காந்த், சங்கி பாண்டே, இயக்குநர் பாலாஜி சக்திவேல் போன்றோர் சிறிய பாத்திரங்களில் தோன்றியிருந்தாலும் சிறுவனின் ரித்விக் நடிப்பு கவனம் ஈர்க்க வைத்துள்ளது.

ஜிவி பிரகாஷின் இசையில் ஏறுமயிலேறி பாடலை தவிர மற்ற பாடல்களும் பின்னணி இசையும் பெரிதாக கவரவில்லை. ஆக்‌ஷன் படத்துக்கான பின்னணி இசையாக இருந்தாலும் தனித்து நிற்கவில்லை. அதேநேரம் ஜார்ஜ் வில்லியம்ஸின் ஒளிப்பதிவு சண்டை, பிளாஷ்பேக் மற்றும் க்ளைமாக்ஸ் காட்சிகள் என படத்துக்கான பக்கபலமாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

படத்தின் இன்னொரு பலம் வசனங்கள். நான்கு பேர் சேர்ந்து எழுதியுள்ள, 'நான் இல்லன்னா அம்மா என்ன பண்ணுவ்வாங்கன்னு பேசுனேன்.. அம்மா இல்லன்னா நான் என்ன பண்ணுவேன்னு பேசல', 'தப்ப சரி பண்ணணும் நினைக்கிறவங்களுக்கு மன்னிப்பு தேவையில்லை' போன்ற வசனங்கள் ரசிகருக்கு படத்துடன் கனெக்ட் செய்ய உதவியுள்ளது.

முதல் பாதியில் ஒரு வழக்கமான கமர்ஷியல் படத்தின் பாதையில் பயணித்து டெம்பிளேட் என்றாலும் மனதில் ஓட்டாத இன்ட்ரோ பாடல், ஃபைட் என குறிக்கோள் இல்லாமல் செல்லும் திரைக்கதை இடைவேளை நெருங்கும்போது சூடுபிடிக்கிறது. ரியல் 'சர்தார்' கேரக்டர் வரும் இரண்டாம் பாதியில் விறுவிறுப்பு ஏற்றப்பட்டாலும், தலையை சுற்றி காதை பிடிக்கிற விதமாக பாகிஸ்தானை இழுத்தது, தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு ஆலோசகரை எளிதாக கடத்துவது போன்ற குறைகள் படத்தின் தடைக்கல்லாக அமைந்துள்ளது. போதாக்குறைக்கு தண்ணீர் அரசியலை பேசுகிறோம் என்கிற போர்வையில் நீர் மேலாண்மைக்கு பாடம் எடுப்பது போன்ற காட்சிகளால் படத்தின் நீளத்தை அதிகரிக்க வைத்து ரசிகர்களை சோதிக்க தவறவில்லை.

மொத்தத்தில், மக்களுக்கு சொல்லப்பட வேண்டிய விஷயங்கள், கருத்துகள், படத்தின் நீளத்தையும் சில குறைகளையும் மறக்கடித்தால் 'சர்தார்' ரசிகர்களுக்கு வித்தியாசமான தீபாவளி விருந்தாக அமையும்.

SARDAR MOVIE REVIEW CLICK TO RATE THE MOVIE

Sardar is an action thriller film written and directed by PS Mithran and produced by S Lakshman Kumar under the banner Prince Pictures. The film has Karthi, Raashi Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan in the lead roles while Laila, Chunky Pandey, Munishkanth, Rithvik and others play supporting characters. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by George C Williams. 

Karthi plays the role of Vijay Prakash who is fond of being the centre of attention, and falls in love with Shalini (Raashi Khanna). To redeem himself from a personal issue that he's facing, he decides to take up the challenge of retrieving a few important files related to RAW. On the other hand we have ex-RAW agent Sardar who is held captive in Bangladesh for certain reasons. How did Sardar end up there? What is the connection between Sardar and Vijay Prakash? Watch the film to know.

Director PS Mithran's movies always have a strong social cause behind it. It was the issue of privacy and data theft in Irumbu Thirai, in Hero it was the education system and in Sardar, he takes up the issue of how water being sold to the common people is one of the unhealthiest practices. He cleverly blends this with the story of an espionage and gives us a film that is gripping for most parts.

The film is self aware right from the start. It wants to have the elements of a commercial film, but at the same time, is aware of when things start lagging. Which is why Karthi's introduction song is cut short. The romance angle is present but the film never invests or commits to it. It knows that there's something bigger on which the attention should be.

Karthi is fantastic in both the roles and exhibits variety to differentiate the characters. While he's aggressive and brash as Vijay Prakash, he's slow and the acting is more nuanced when he is Sardar. While his chemistry with Raashi Khanna is less interesting, it's the complete opposite with Rajisha Vijayan who scores well in whatever little screen time she gets. Her eyes are earnest and emote so beautifully. Munishkanth and Rithvik's performances too leave an impact on us.

GV Prakash's music amps up the film at the right places and keeps us on the edge of our seats. George C Williams' cinematography is stylish in terms of the colours and framing, while the editing is also fantastic. There's a scene in the second half where Sardar is revealed to the audience... The way the scene has been staged is a sample for the quality of visuals.

Overall, Sardar ends up as a technically brilliant film that has goosebumps moments at regular intervals. The writing by PS Mithran's team is neat and reflects the clarity of thought. And more than anything the film's noble message must also be appreciated.

Sardar First Review: Karthi Rocked All The Way, Says Overseas Reviewer

Sardar is all set for a Deepavali release amidst decent expectations and its trailer was intriguing. The film seems to be suspenseful and intense for the most part, while Karthi's cop avatar promises us that the film won't miss out on fun and humour.

Umair Sandhu, who is a self-proclaimed Overseas Censor Board Member and a film critic, has shared his review of Sardar. He usually calls his review, the first review, and it comes out before the film is released. Umair has positive feedback for the film.

The first review he tweeted is below and has given the film a three-star rating.

Sardar will be released in Telugu by Akkineni family-run Annapurna Studios. Nagarjuna was present at the pre-release event of Sardar, spoke highly of the film, and reminisced about the days of working with Karthi, for Oopiri/Thozha. Karthi got quite emotional and spoke about how Nagarjuna is like a real brother to him. He shared how he received a lot of advice, encouragement, and lessons from Nagarjuna during those days. He fondly remembered the travel that they had and the places they went to. It was a beautiful moment to witness.

The film stars Karthi, Raashi Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, and Laila among others. The film is directed by PS Mithran. GV Prakash Kumar is the film's composer, George C Williams is the DOP, and Ruben is the editor.

தேசத்துரோகியின் மகன் என்கிற பட்டத்தை மறைக்க சோஷியல் மீடியா மூலம் மக்களின் நன்மதிப்பை பெற பெரும்பாடு படும் இன்ஸ்பெக்டராக கார்த்தி. தன் தந்தையின் தேச துரோக செயலால் குடும்பமே தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்ள, மற்றொரு போலீஸ்காரரின் வளர்ப்பில் வளர்கிறார். மற்றொரு புறம், ‛ஒரு இந்தியா, ஒரு பைப்’ என்கிற திட்டத்தோடு, இந்திய முழுவதும், ஒரு பைப் மூலம் குடிநீர் வினியோகம் செய்யும் திட்டத்தை அமல்படுத்த துடிக்கும் வில்லன். அதை முறியடிக்க வரும் சமூக போராளி லைலா. போராளிகளை தேசத் துரோகிகளாக மாற்றும் அதிகார வர்கத்தின் நாடகம் தெரியாமல், தேசத் துரோகியாக கூறப்படும் லைலாவை பிடித்து, தன் மீதான கறையை போக்க நினைக்கிறார் கார்த்தி.

லைலா இறந்த பின், அவரது மகன் மூலமாக லைலா சமூக போராளி என தெரிகிறது. தன்னைப் போலவே லைலாவின் மகனும் பாதிக்கப்படுகிறான் என்பதை உணர்கிறார் கார்த்தி. இந்த நேரத்தில், குடிநீர் மூலம் இந்தியாவை தன் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் வைக்க நினைக்கும் வில்லனின் முயற்சியை தடுக்க, ஒரு மூத்த ஏஜண்ட் குரூப் செயல்படுகிறது. அதன் படி, 32 ஆண்டுகளாக பங்களாதேஷ் சிறையில் இருக்கும் சர்தாரை இந்தியா அழைக்கிறது, இருவர் கொண்ட அந்த ஏஜண்ட் குழு. 

சர்தார் வந்து விடக்கூடாது என துடிக்கிறார் வில்லன். ஒரு கட்டத்தில் சிறையில் இருக்கும் சர்தார் தான் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் கார்த்தியின் அப்பா என்பதும், நாட்டு நன்மைக்காக தேசத் துரோக பட்டத்தை சுமந்து வாழ்வதும் தெரியவருகிறது. சிறையில் இருந்து தப்பி வரும் சர்தார் கார்த்தி, ஒரு இந்தியா... ஒரு பைப் திட்டத்தை முறியடித்தாரா, தன் குடும்பம் அழிய காரணமான வில்லனை என்ன செய்தார், ஏன் அவர் தேச துரோகி பட்டத்தை சுமந்தார் என்பது தான் கதை. அது மட்டும் தான் கதை. 

ஆனால், அந்த கதையை இடைவெளிக்கு பிறகு தான் தொடங்குகிறார்கள். முதல் பாதி, முழுக்க முழுக்க நீட்டி முழக்கி தேவையில்லாமல் நேரத்தை வீணடித்திருக்கிறார்கள். இரண்டாம் பாதியில் இருக்கும் வேகம், முதல் பாதியில் சுத்தமாக இல்லை. முதல்பாதியை சுருக்கி, இரண்டாம் பாதியை கொஞ்சம் முதல் பாதியிலிருந்து தொடங்கியிருந்தால், வேறு விதமாக இருந்திருக்கும். 

உன்னைக் கொடி என்னைத் தருவேன், வில்லு என தேசவிரோத கதைகள் பலவற்றை நாம் பார்த்திருக்கிறோம். இதுவும் அதுமாதிரியான ஒரு கதை தான்; ஆனால், கொஞ்சம் அப்டேட் வெர்சன். ஆனால் இரண்டாம் பாதியில் வரும் திரைக்கதை பிரமாதம். அது முதல் பாதியில் ஏன் மிஸ் ஆனது என்பது இயக்குனருக்கே வெளிச்சம். லைலா வரும் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் இன்றிருக்கும் பல குணசித்திர நடிகைகளை நடிக்க வைத்திருக்கலாம். இதற்கு எதற்கு லைலா என்பது தெரியவில்லை. அவர் வருவதும், போவதும் கூட தெரியவில்லை. 

கார்த்திக்கு இரட்டை வேடம். சர்தாராக மிரட்டுகிறார். தஞ்சாவூரிலிருந்து பொசுக்கு பொசுக்குனு பாகிஸ்தான் போவது, சீனா பார்டர் போவது என திருச்சிக்கும், திருநெல்வேலிக்கும் போவது போல, வீட்டுக்குத் தெரியாமல் போய் வருவது பயங்கரமான லாஜிக் கோட்டை. இந்தியா முழுவதும் செல்லும் ஒரு பைக் லைனில், க்ளைமாக்ஸில் 5 டாங்க் சோடியம் குளோரைடு கொட்டி திட்டத்தை அழிப்பதும், அந்த ரகமே. 

சுருக்கமாக, நறுக்குனு சொல்ல வேண்டியதை சுத்தி சுத்தி சுருளை இழுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். போதாக்குறைக்கு பாடல்கள் வேறு. இசையமைப்பாளருக்கு பணம் கொடுத்துவிட்டோம் என்பதற்காக 5 பாடல்களை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு, அதற்கு 30 நிமிடங்களை செலவழிக்கும் பழைய கால டெக்னிக்கை இன்னும் மாற்றாமல் இருப்பது கொடுமையோ கொடுமை. பின்னணியில் ஜி.வி.பிரகாஷ் சிறப்பாக இசையமைத்திருக்கிறார். அத்தோடு நிறுத்தியிருக்கலாம். 

இரும்புத் திரை, ஹீரோ படங்களை இயக்கிய பி.எஸ்.மித்ரன், தனது மூன்றாவது படமாக சர்தார் படத்தை இயக்கியுள்ளார். டெக்னிக்கலாக நிறைய விசயங்களை ஆய்வு செய்து படம் எடுத்திருக்கிறார்; அந்த ஆய்வை படத்தின் திரைக்கதையிலும் செய்திருக்கலாம். ராஷி கண்ணா, ரஷிஜா விஜயன் என இரு ஹீரோயின்கள். வருகிறார்கள், போகிறார்கள். ராணுவ அதிகாரியாக இருந்து, பின்னர் குடிநீர் மாஃபியாவாக மாறும் ஜூங்கி பாண்டேவின் மிரட்டல் நடிப்பு சிறப்பு. லைலாவின் மகனாக வரும் ‛வேல்ராஜ்’ புகழ் ரித்வித் நடிப்பு சிறப்பு. க்ளைமாக்ஸ் வரை சிறுவன் தனக்கு கிடைத்த வாய்ப்பை நன்கு பயன்படுத்தியிருக்கிறான். இறுதியில் கார்த்தி; இரு வேடங்களில் தன் பங்கை கச்சிதமாக செய்திருக்கிறார். அவருக்கு இது பெரிய அனுபவமாக இருக்கும்.
