प्रश्न 1. धरतीपटक सिंह अपनी शक्ति बनाए रखने के लिए क्या-क्या करता था? उत्तर: धरतीपटक सिंह अपनी शक्ति को बनाए रखने के लिए घंटों व्यायाम करता और पौष्टिक भोजन करता था।

प्रश्न 2. मुखजोर सिंह अपने घर से क्यों भाग गया? उत्तर: मुखजोर सिंह, धरतीपटक सिंह की आवाज सुनकर डर के कारण अपने घर से भाग गया।

प्रश्न 3. हाथी को आँगन में गिरा देख माँ ने क्या कहा? उत्तर: हाथी को आँगन में गिरा देख माँ ने कहा- “बेटा! घबराने की कोई बात नहीं। अपने पिता को आने दे, उनके आते ही यह पागल दुम दबाकर भाग जाएगा। तुम इस चूहे को झाड़ से बाहर कर दो।”

पाठ – परिचय:

‘दो पहलवान’ शीर्षक पाठ में दो नामी पहलवानों की चर्चा की गई है। इस पाठ में यह दिखाया गया है कि बल से अधिक शक्तिशाली बुद्धि होती है। धरतीपटक सिंह हर जगह बल का प्रयोग करता है किंतु मुखजोर सिंह, उसका बेटा और पत्नी बुद्धिमानी से काम करते हैं। इसलिए धरतीपटक सिंह बलशाली होते हुए भी मैदान छोड़कर भाग जाता है।

पाठ का सारांश:

उस तालाब पर प्रतिदिन एक हाथी पानी पीने आता था। तालाब में कम पानी देखकर वह क्रोधित हो गया और गुस्से से चिंघाड़ा। उसकी चिंघाड़ सुनकर धरतीपटक सिंह उठा और हाथी की सूँड को बगल में दबाकर मुखजोर सिंह के घर की ओर चल पड़ा। मुखजोर सिंह के घर के सामने पहुँचकर उसने उसे चिल्लाकर ललकारा। उसकी ललकार सुनकर मुखजोर सिंह डर गया और पिछले दरवाजे से भाग गया। घर में उसकी पत्नी और बेटा था। उन दोनों ने अपनी बुद्धि और चालाकी से धरतीपटक सिंह को यह सोचने पर बाध्य कर दिया कि अगर उसका बेटा इतना बलशाली है तो हो सकता है वह खुद मेरे जितना या मुझसे अधिक बलशाली हो।

मुखजोर सिंह से कुश्ती लड़ने पर मुझे हार का सामना करना पड़ेगा। इसलिए वह डर कर भाग गया। कुछ देर के बाद मुखजोर सिंह घर लौटा। पहले तो उसे अपने बेटे पर गुस्सा आ गया और उसे कंधे पर बिठाकर नदी में फेंकने चल पड़ा। किंतु बाद में बेटे का कथन सुनकर उसका क्रोध शांत हुआ। उसने अपने बेटे की पीठ थपथपाते हुए कहा, “एक दिन तू दुनिया में अवश्य मेरा नाम रोशन करेगा।’
