Readsdirect.ie use a high quality 100gsm paper semi gloss paper, this means that the maximum number of sheets in each thesis is 270 sheets. This is for a thesis printed on one side or 470 pages if printed on both sides of the page. We suggest you check with the regulations from your college but the above page count would be sufficient for most colleges. Larger page count: If the page count is above the readsdirect.ie maximum we would suggest 2 volumes. You must save the file correctly in PDF format only – not word,excel, powerpoint, jpg or any other file. In submitting your file in PDF it will insure there is no variance from what you see on your screen or print out. If you have a lot of text boxes , images imported, graphs and so on please check that they have saved correctly. We suggest try print on a home printer a few selected pages you would be worried about to verify if all is correct. If done on word on a mac definitely save to pdf and try flatten any graphics on pages.

Colour printing, black printing.

NB: For black & white pages ensure that the type font colour is in black not in grey or a dark navy.

• If your document is in grey/dark navy our printer detects it as a colour page and you will be charged accordingly.
• Anything with colour on a page is counted as a colour page (55 cents), this includes website links in blue, greyscale text, logos, coloured headers/footers etc.
• To reduce your printing cost change any unnecessary colour to black.
• Delivery in Ireland €12.50

All their cases are made by hand and each letter is handpicked and traditionally embossed using gold foil. They have a wide range of finishes available from high quality book cloth to leather and there is options that can be added for a more luxurious finish, such as gold headbands, marbled end papers, ribbon markers and extra embossings.

Hubert Bookbindery work with a lot of students and colleges and aim to offer as much advice from their decades of experience. There is a lot to think about when it comes formatting a document for printing. Document editors such as Word, Open Office and Google Docs can have default settings so here are a few tips for setting up a project that we have learnt along the way.

• Check your page size once you open the application
• Decide if its going to be a single sided or double sided document. If the document is going to be double sided, use mirrored margins or have the margins centred. Same set up applies to page numbers.
• Pick a heading style and start an automatic contents page CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
• Please bear in mind that most heading styles have colour and when printing this can be expensive so a BOLD  greyscale heading would be as effective as a blue heading

Quality Paper Selection

We offer archival-quality paper in 25% Cotton or 100% Cotton, as well as standard 20 lb & 60lb Bond paper. You will only pay color printing rates for your specified color pages. Lots of photos? Headbands & Archival Endsheets

Our Hard Cover books include top & bottom Headbands – chequered fabric that decorate and protect the edges of the spine of your book. Hard Cover books also use archival-quality Endsheets – the pages which attach your book’s body to its Hard Cover case, as well as heavy blank/fly pages on the front & back cover.

Mail-In your paper document for Binding Only

We can print your document from a PDF file (see sidebar), or you can mail your already printed document for Hard Cover Binding. Simply click your Hard Cover binding style above and follow the instructions. You will be prompted to print your order form. You’ll then pack it with your documents and ship us the package.

Check your Order Status

Shipping date is available on the day that you order. Tracking Number is available only if your order has shipped. For Printed Hardcover binding, shipping date will change based on the time you approve cover proof.

• Special Collections holds print copies of Masters theses from 1911-2012. To access print copies of Taught Masters theses since 2013 contact the relevant department.
• Special Collections holds print copies of Research Masters / PhDs theses from 1939-2019. To access Research Masters / PhD theses since 2020 search on CORA .

Theses must be requested in advance. For further information see Special Collections & Archives Request Form. All print theses must be consulted in the library and cannot be borrowed.

Scanning, photocopying or photographing theses is not permitted without written permission from the author.

How Do I Find UCC Theses Through the Catalogue?

Search by Department:

• Go to the UCC Library Catalogue .
• Select 'Theses' under 'Search Options' on the left of the screen, or click here .
• Search for the name of a department/school e.g. 'Department of Physiology' or search with keywords.
• Browse this list of theses theses from specific departments.

Search by Keyword:

• Enter the search term in the Keyword option.
• On the results page click on 'Modify Search' and limit your search to Material Type: Theses
