KS2Gems has developed a set of five daily mathematics questions designed to challenge Year 6 students' understanding of fractions, decimals, and percentages (FDP). These questions are styled after the types of problems that may be encountered in SATs, providing a valuable tool for both students and teachers. Each question requires students to apply their knowledge of FDP to solve real-world problems. The answers are conveniently provided on the slides following each question, allowing for immediate feedback and learning reinforcement.
The exercises include a variety of scenarios such as calculating the original number in a sequence of mathematical operations, determining the initial amount of money before making purchases, and figuring out the remaining pages left to read in a book. For instance, one question asks students to reverse calculations to find Noah's original number, while another requires them to work out how much money Poppy had before she spent a portion on sweets and crisps. Additionally, students are tasked with calculating change from a £10 note after buying comics and chocolate, and working out the total cost of two packs when the second pack is offered at a 50% discount. These questions not only assess students' computational skills but also develop their problem-solving abilities.
