At SMJFL we pride ourselves in providing grassroots football for boys and girls of all abilities, aged 6 - 18 years, and have done for over 40 years. We have over 300 teams registered to the league and provide games on a weekly basis for thousands of players. Girls teams are more than welcome to join our league and play at an age group one year younger than their own, as per FA rules.
The league committee comprises of dedicated volunteers who selflessly give their time up to ensure footballing opportunities are available for those that want them. All teams are ran by amazing volunteers, who dedicate themselves to the cause, no matter win, lose or draw and for this we THANK YOU! Also praise has to be paid to our loyal fans and supporters who line the sidelines weekly to support all players in a postive, safe and fun environment, no matter the weather.
Our U7's to U11's use local central venue facilities at Life Leisure Brinnington Park, Stockport Sports Village, Stockport Power League, St Paul's High School in Wythenshawe, Stockport Academy and NEW for 2024/25 BENCHILL COMMUNITY CENTRE and another Stockport venue that we have secured. We play football at fantastic sites with brilliant facilities and are growing bigger each season.
Our U12's make the progression from development football to competetive football based at teams' own venues on a Home and Away basis. We have SATURDAY and SUNDAY leagues for each age group where sufficient numbers apply. NEW for 2024/25, we can now offer a central venue location for Saturday and Sunday teams at our U12's age group.
Teams can remain with the league until they reach the end of their junior playing career at U18's level, where they can continue with their journey by joining one of our connected leagues to progress through to U21's or Open Age football.
If you are interested in joining us or would like more information please drop us a message at [email protected]

2022 SMJFL PRESENTATION NIGHT
The South Metro Junior Football Club has hosted its first in person League Presentation Night since 2019 at the Kingston Town Hall on Wednesday evening.
After a successful return to full season of SMJFL football, it was fantastic to celebrate those who excelled this season, in a room full of their peers and distinguished guests from the SMJFL community.
“All year we’ve loved the happy faces and community spirit on display at training and matches,” said SMJFL Chair Richard Bowen.
“Tonight, in celebrating the victorious teams and outstanding individual performances, we again gather as a community, and we’re thrilled to be able to do this in person!”
The league had over 450 award recipients, including best and fairest place getters, interleague series awards, league club awards and 10-year player awards.
“Events like these are really exciting for sporting organisations,” said SMJFL CEO Matthew Brown.
“Whilst we are celebrating the achievements of our award winners for this evening, we are also celebrating their contributions to making our league one of the best junior sporting leagues in the country.”
“The effort, time and dedication they make, whether its on-field or coaching or running our Member Clubs, deserves the celebration. “
The Monash Leader of the Year was also awarded to Hampton Rovers Sachi Norton for her incredible fundraising effort for the Peter Mac Cancer Centre.
Sachi raised $12,000 as part of the Peter Mac Unite to Fight Cancer 200km bike ride in the wake of losing her father to bowel cancer.
“Sachi stood up for what she believed and continued to be a leader in her football team by showing everyone on her team what great levels of positivity can achieve even in the most challenging times in life,” said Monash University Audience Marketing Manager Eliana Ulusan, who presented the Monash Leader of the Year award to Sachi.
“The values Sachi demonstrated exemplify what it means to be a Monash Leader.”
With over 800 individual attendees on the night, it was a great way to cap off an outstanding 2022 season of SMJFL football.
The league would also like to give a special thanks to Garry Bradshaw from Garry Bradshaw Photography, for capturing the night. Click the link below to view Garry’s photos, along with the top 10-Place Getters for each Best and Fairest count and the presentations from both session one and two.
