How we tested resume sites and services
When we evaluated the different resume templates and builders, we looked at how each site or app allowed you to create new resumes, browse templates or upload and edit existing resumes. We also looked at how easy or hard it would be to customize different templates and sections, how much guidance was available, how user-friendly it was to navigate, plus reading and understanding each company's privacy policies.
Some of our picks are free, some enlist the help of professional writers and some require a subscription or one-time payment. When it comes to premium or paid services, we evaluated how inclusive its packages were compared to basic or free versions. In many cases for the professional writing services, these paid tiers included more guidance and additional job search support like a cover letter and LinkedIn editing, suggested jobs to apply to and interview coaching.
Factors to consider when choosing a resume writing service
This was a key factor when compiling this list. Whether you're looking for a free service to boost your current resume or interested in professional editing services, there’s something for everyone’s price range.
Ease of use
When looking at each website, we looked at how easy it was to navigate, browse templates and add, edit or remove different sections. We also considered whether you can download and share your resume for free and in what format.
Customization options
Customization options were essential, as everyone's resume is going to look different. Having easy user control over your resume helps you create a resume that meets your industry's standards and showcases your professional experiences.
Privacy policies
Privacy policies were the final important factor to consider, as many of these are websites and apps that can collect and store your personal information. All of the services and websites included on this list have decent privacy settings, and we noted which ones have exceptionally clear use cases and account deletion policies.

Individuals mainly opt for online writing services to get more interviews and callbacks. If your resume is outstanding, it will outshine the competition. But, if it’s filled with mistakes, it might end up in the dump.
For instance, Statista research shows that only 14% of applicants that applied to companies with over 500 employees in 2018 landed an interview. This means that you are competing with even more rivals than you thought. As such, your resume needs to be professional and showcase your unique skills.
People also hire resume writing services to organize their resumes for them. For example, some individuals may not know that the right resume shouldn’t be too long and should be skimmable. The Experience section must be at the top, so the person reading it becomes interested.
Because an average resume needs to be one page long, you need to pinpoint only your best-selling skills. And if you are not the best resume writer, you might compose it the wrong way. But that’s what resume writing services are best at! Hiring these writing services will guarantee your resume will stand out.
Resume writing services work through the applicant contacting the company or the writer. After negotiating a price, the buyer will communicate with the writer about what needs to be included in the resume. Depending on the service and the payment, a resume may be delivered within 24 hours or 7 days tops.
If the writer is satisfied with the delivery, they pay the agreed-upon price. Some writing services require payment upfront, while others have a money-back guarantee. You should note that if you want an attention-capturing resume, you should be prepared to pay more.
If you live in a specific area, remember that you can locate the top contenders by Googling the best resume writing services near me!
The best professional resume writing services offer various pricing plans to fit your needs. Some can review your submitted resume, while others can write it from scratch. Writing services also show you how to build your resume using their templates or one of their samples.
Did you know that including your GPA score on resume samples increases your chance of standing out? Some resume builders implement this practice more than others.
There are writing services that pair you up with a professional writer whom you can converse with. They gather all your information and interview you about your education and previous job experiences to create one mind-blowing resume. If you are willing to pay a little more, they might include a cover letter to attach to your Linkedin profile.
Besides editing and reviewing, the best resume writing services offer CV creation and career consulting. But, most importantly, the right resume writing services will be affordable to the average student, job-seeker, or the recently unemployed.
Below, we’ll talk about the best-reviewed resume writing services you can trust with your career fate.

Indeed Job Posting Cost (2024 Guide)
Updated: Jul 9, 2024, 9:31am
Table of Contents
What is indeed, how much does a job posting cost, does indeed offer other services, should you pay for a sponsored job post, frequently asked questions.
Indeed is a go-to for employers and job seekers alike. The online job board boasts more than 250 million users each month, offers various options for job posts and can even screen potential candidates to find the ones who match your job description. Indeed’s job posting platform offers free options as well as pay-per-click sponsored posts based on the employer’s daily budget. Additionally, Indeed offers other tools, such as Indeed Hire, which functions like an online recruiter for employers. Here’s everything you need to know about how much it costs to post a job on Indeed.
Indeed is an online job board where employers can post job listings for free or at a price-per-click to attract more candidates. Indeed is well-known by both employers and job seekers. Known for its diversity of job postings and ease of use, Indeed is often one of the first places job seekers go when looking for a position.

Employers can post jobs for free or choose the pay-per-click option to attract more candidates. With both free and paid options, you’ll need to first create an employer account. With the employer account, you’ll have a Company Profile page that you need to claim. After you’ve done that, you can add your company logo, location, industry and company description. The Company Profile page will include all current Indeed job postings and users can choose to follow your Company Profile to be updated on any future job postings.
Regardless of whether you choose the paid or free job posting option, you’ll want to maintain an up-to-date and engaging Company Profile page so you are attracting the right candidates.
Free Job Postings on Indeed
Once you have created an employer account, you can immediately start posting jobs for free. Free job postings include job description, location, skills and qualifications and experience required. Free job postings will appear in the general search results when job seekers search for jobs that meet the criteria listed in the job posting. You can update your free job postings from your employer account.
Free job posts are most visible in the two to three days immediately following posting. After that, the post will fall below more recent relevant job posts and users will need to scroll further down the list to find your job post. And lest you think you can get around this by reposting the same job every couple of days, think again. Indeed doesn’t allow you to repost the same job within a short period of time.
Indeed offers an application estimator tool that provides a general idea about the number of applications you can expect based on other similar job posts.
Sponsored Job Postings on Indeed
If you want to attract more job seekers, you can choose Indeed’s pay-per-click sponsored job posting option. According to Indeed, sponsored job posts are four and a half times more likely to result in a hire. Indeed’s sponsored job posts are paid on a per-click basis. In other words, employers will pay each time a job seeker clicks on their job post.
Sponsored job posts on Indeed cost as little as $5 per day, and you can change your daily budget at any time. Indeed will provide an application estimator tool that provides a general idea about the number of applications you can expect based on other similar job posts for this budget and duration. Once your daily budget is reached, Indeed will stop displaying your listing among the sponsored jobs.
Essentially, this means that you are in complete control of how much you spend to advertise a job on Indeed. You can’t control the number of candidates that will click on your advertisement, but you can set the maximum amount you’re willing to spend and Indeed will not push you beyond that limit. This flexibility makes it an excellent tool for all types of businesses.
Indeed offers several other tools for employers who want to get the most bang for their buck with job posts. The following are add-on options employers may want to consider for a job post.
Indeed Resume
Indeed Resume functions like an online recruiting tool. Indeed uses its search engine to scour over 200 million résumés to help you find possible candidates. With over 25 search filters, employers can focus on the most relevant candidates and then reach out to them directly via email. Indeed Resume will help you reach other users who have an up-to-date résumé on Indeed but may not be actively searching for a job.
Indeed Resume is available with either a Standard plan or a Professional plan. The Standard plan is $100 per month and offers up to 30 contact credits per month. The Professional plan is $250 per month and offers up to 100 contact credits per month.
Indeed Hiring Platform
Indeed Hiring Platform also functions like an online recruiter by automating the recruiting process. When employers pay for this tool, Indeed will screen candidates that meet your job requirements and will then instantly schedule interviews with your team. Using the Indeed Hiring Platform allows employers to save time spent on the administrative functions of the hiring process, such as scanning résumés, screening candidates and confirming interviews. Much like traditional recruiters, this online recruiting tool is paid as a commission equal to 10% of the candidate’s starting salary when they are hired.
There are several considerations to keep in mind when deciding whether to choose the free or sponsored job post. To help make the decision, consider the following questions:
- How specialized is the job? If the job post isn’t specialized and you expect a high number of qualified applicants, the free job posting may be sufficient. If, on the other hand, the job has unique qualifications, you may want to choose the sponsored option so that you reach more candidates for a longer period.
- How quickly are you looking to hire? If you expect to hire someone quickly, you may get the traffic you need with the free option. If you expect the hiring process to take more than a few days, the sponsored option will keep your job post visible for a longer period.
- Where are you located? If your company is located in an area where there isn’t a large pool of candidates, the sponsored option will expand that pool.
- Have you had difficulty in hiring the right candidates? If you’ve tried the free job postings in the past and struggled to find the right candidates, a sponsored job post might yield better results.
What information should I include in my Indeed job post?
The more specific and engaging your job post is, the more qualified candidates you’re likely to attract. Not only does the job description tell candidates about the specific job, but it also tells job seekers about your company. In addition to providing relevant information about job location, skills, responsibilities and qualifications, you should also keep in mind your company “voice” and provide other relevant information that helps job seekers understand what it would be like to work at your company.
How do I post a job on Indeed?
To post a job on Indeed, whether a free job post or a paid sponsored job post, visit Indeed’s website and click the “Post a Job” button. You’ll be asked to create an account if you haven’t already created one. You’ll then be asked to provide the necessary information about the job and whether it is a free post or a sponsored post. If you choose the sponsored post, you’ll then designate the daily budget and duration.
What criteria should organizations consider when deciding on a recruiting software tool?
When choosing recruiting software, consider overall pricing, how well the platform scales, how easy it is to use and whether its features align with your specific hiring requirements. Most recruitment software comes with a free trial so that you can check out the platform before you invest in it.
How long does it take for a job post to be live on Indeed?
Indeed reviews each job post before it goes live. According to Indeed, the review process typically is complete within 24 to 48 hours.
What does it mean when you are invited to apply for a job on Indeed?
An official invite to apply for a specific job means that an employer has found your profile and is interested in you as a candidate. The employer can go into their Indeed account and request that you apply for the position via Instant Match.
At that point, Indeed will send you a personalized note inviting you to apply. You may also get separate emails with jobs that match your search criteria, but not official invites.

Indeed is one of the most popular job boards in the United States. As a top recruiting website, it gives job posters access to a large pool of potential candidates.
Indeed offers several features to help companies find talent — some paid and some free. To help you decide which features are worth your time and money, we at the MarketWatch Guides team break down Indeed’s job posting capabilities. Keep reading for a summary of features and costs.
How Much Does It Cost To Post a Job on Indeed?
Indeed has both free and paid job posting options. Let’s look at why recruiters might choose one version over the other.
Free vs. Paid Comparison
If you opt for the paid version, you get charged on a per-application basis . Indeed uses historical data on the type of job to determine how much to charge you. You agree to the price. You also set screener questions to weed out applicants who don’t meet must-have qualifications. As applications come in, you get charged for the ones that meet your must-haves.
This per-application pay model is fairly new for Indeed. Before that, there was a per-click model where you got charged for every click on your posting, even if it didn’t result in an application. Given that this pricing model is new, Indeed doesn’t have data on every type of job. When it doesn’t have data, you must use the per-click model.
If you are recruiting for only one position or have a limited budget, you may want to use the free posting version. This version is available in all scenarios except the following exceptions where you would need to pay for sponsored posting :
- Part-time jobs
- Identical jobs posted in multiple locations
- Jobs posted with confidential company names
- Commission-only jobs
- Hard-to-fill jobs
- Jobs posted by staffing agencies
- Other jobs determined by Indeed
Aside from the listed exceptions, why would one choose sponsored or free job posting? Here’s a table that summarizes their differences:
$0 | ||
Drops with new job posts | Stays at the top of the page
N/A | Matched candidates
30 days | 30 days |
Sponsored Post Cost
As you can see, paid listings give you access to candidate recommendations and top-of-the-page placements. If you decide this is worth it, here is how pricing works:
- You set a monthly or daily budget. The minimum Indeed allows is $5 per day or $150 per month. When you run out of that budget, your post stops being in a premium position.
- You don’t pay the budget you set up front. You pay how much you actually spend on the first of the next month or when you reach $500 , whichever comes first.
- If you have multiple job postings live, you can set a universal budget for all of them or a custom budget for each one.
- There are only a certain number of premium spots. If you set your budget as $5, but other job posters are willing to pay $10, then you will have to match their amount or miss out on a premium spot.
Indeed Resume Cost
Indeed offers an optional feature alongside sponsored job posting called Indeed Resume.
Indeed Resume gives you access to a search engine to look through active resumes. You can filter the resumes based on location, experience and more. If you find a resume you like, you can message the candidate directly. Though you can search for as many candidates as you want, you can only message a select number based on the plan you pay for:
- Standard: $120 per month for 30 contact credits
- Professional: $300 per month for 100 contact credits
If you aren’t ready to commit to this cost yet, you can try Indeed Resume for free for 14 days. You get five contacts during that time.
What Impacts the Cost of an Indeed Job Posting?
We already covered some of the factors that affect the cost of Indeed’s sponsored job posting feature. However, here is everything summarized in one place:
- Number of clicks or applications: The more clicks or applications you get, the more you pay. With the per-click model, you will likely pay more because job seekers may click on your post to read the full description and then decide not to apply.
- Market competitiveness: The more other recruiters are spending on your target position in your specified area, the higher a sponsored job posting will cost.
- Duration of posting: The longer you keep a posting up, the more you will pay.
- Number of postings: If you have several postings live at once, you will have to pay for a premium spot for each of them.
Benefits of Sponsored Job Postings on Indeed
Just like with cost above, here is a summary of all the previously mentioned reasons why you might want to pay for sponsored posting:
- More applications: Paying for better visibility means you get more people clicking on and applying to your open position.
- More qualified candidates: When you open yourself up to more applications, you also increase your chances of getting qualified candidates. You will still get unqualified candidates, but you can filter them out.
- Per-application pricing: You have until 72 hours after an application is submitted to decide if it’s qualified or unqualified. You only get charged for the applications you put in the qualified bucket. This is a lot cheaper than the old pricing model of being charged for every click. With that model, you were still charged for clicks that didn’t turn into applications and applications that weren’t qualified. This new pricing model isn’t available for every job type, though.
- Matched candidates: Once you post a sponsored job, Indeed sends you a list of candidates that may be a good fit for it. This saves you from having to source candidates or wait for candidates to apply.
Tips for Posting Jobs on Indeed on a Budget
Paying a minimum of $150 a month may be out of reach for some businesses. Below are some tips you can use to recruit on Indeed regardless of your budget:
- Start with free listings: A new free listing usually stays on the first page for a few days — depending on how many other posts come in. You should get some applications during these first few days. Sometimes, there is a perfect candidate within these applications. If you can’t find a good candidate within a week of posting the job, it might be time to upgrade it to a sponsored placement.
- Leverage discounts: Indeed sometimes offers discounts to new recruiters who sign up for its platform. Keep an eye on your email and on the Indeed website to see if you can’t get a discounted rate for sponsored posting this way.
- Optimize listings for relevance: If you decide to pay for a sponsored post and Indeed notifies you that it’s going to be a per-click price, you want to make the listing as specific as possible. That way, you avoid paying for clicks that don’t lead to qualified applications. Clearly state how much the role pays, what the job responsibilities entail and where the position is located.
- Use labels: Both the “urgently hiring” and “responsive employer” labels make job posts stand out, and they don’t cost anything. You can choose to add “urgently hiring” to an important listing yourself. To get a “responsive employer” tag from Indeed, you must respond to applicants in a timely manner.
The Bottom Line
Indeed is a popular job board with flexible pricing. We recommend starting with the free version first to see if you can find qualified candidates. If not, upgrade to a paid post to expose your position to a larger pool of potential applicants. This type of post will cost you a minimum of $5 per day.
