Model Essay 1

In an era where environmental degradation transcends borders, the proposition that these challenges necessitate a global response is gaining traction. I staunchly advocate for international cooperation to address these concerns, particularly focusing on the pivotal roles of technological innovation and global policy reform.

The crux of the matter firmly resides in the universal nature of environmental problems; pollution, climate change, and the alarming loss of biodiversity do not recognize national boundaries. This inescapable global interconnectivity necessitates a unified approach to fervently foster technological innovation and cross-border collaborations. For instance, the development, widespread dissemination, and adoption of renewable energy technologies from one nation can significantly reduce carbon footprints globally. The success stories of solar energy advancements in Germany and wind energy in Denmark serve as beacons, exemplifying how collective technological strides can benefit the global community immensely. This synergy not only accelerates the transition to green energy but also vividly demonstrates the power of shared knowledge, resources, and collective determination in combating environmental issues.

Moreover, the steadfast implementation of comprehensive, robust global policies is indispensable and urgently required. International agreements like the Paris Accord not only exemplify the potential of collective action in mitigating climate change but also highlight the vital importance of unity and shared goals. However, the effectiveness of such agreements critically hinges on their stringent enforcement and the unwavering commitment of all parties to adhere to agreed-upon standards and objectives. The introduction of global carbon pricing, for instance, could serve as a tangible, impactful measure to encourage countries and corporations alike to pivot towards more sustainable practices, making environmental responsibility a cornerstone of their operations. Such forward-thinking policies underscore the necessity of a cohesive, integrated strategy, emphasizing that isolated efforts, while commendable, are patently insufficient in the face of a looming global environmental crisis.

In conclusion, the argument for a global approach to solving environmental problems is compelling and, in my view, non-negotiable. The symbiosis of technological innovation and comprehensive policy reform on a worldwide scale stands as our best hope for a sustainable future.

Model Essay 2

As our planet faces escalating environmental crises, the contention that these challenges demand a global solution is increasingly pertinent. I firmly concur, emphasizing the crucial roles of international environmental stewardship and educational initiatives.

Firstly, global stewardship, through collective governance and international cooperation, is imperative for managing and mitigating environmental issues effectively. The catastrophic deforestation in the Amazon, for instance, is not a solitary concern for Brazil but a pressing global one, affecting biodiversity and climate worldwide, necessitating immediate global attention and action. International collaboration can lead to the adoption of sustainable management practices that respect both local and global needs comprehensively. The establishment of transnational conservation areas and the provision of international funding for innovative sustainable development projects can serve as illustrative examples of how unified efforts yield substantial environmental benefits. These actions not only mitigate local issues but also contribute significantly to global environmental health, showcasing the efficacy and necessity of a united, concerted approach.

Additionally, global educational initiatives play an indispensable and pivotal role in solving environmental problems by promoting global consciousness. Knowledge and awareness about environmental conservation need to transcend borders to foster a universally eco-conscious populace, ready to take action. Initiatives like UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development program illustrate the unparalleled potential of education to equip individuals worldwide with the understanding and skills to live more sustainably, fostering a culture of care for the environment. By embedding comprehensive environmental education in global curricula, we can cultivate a generation capable of making informed decisions that benefit the planet, instilling a deep-rooted sense of environmental stewardship across diverse communities.

In conclusion, the argument for addressing environmental issues through a global lens is not only logical but necessary. The synergistic impact of international environmental stewardship and educational initiatives underscores the potential of collective action in ushering a sustainable future.

Model Essay 3

In the face of escalating environmental challenges, the debate over whether these issues require a global or localized approach has intensified. I wholeheartedly endorse the view that only through a concerted global effort can we effectively tackle these crises, underscoring the necessity for global environmental governance and shared technological innovation.

Central to this discourse is the imperative for establishing a global environmental governance framework. Such a framework would enable countries to collaboratively address issues that transcend national boundaries, such as climate change and ocean pollution. For example, the depletion of the ozone layer was effectively countered through the global cooperation mandated by the Montreal Protocol. This success story illustrates the potential of collective action in resolving environmental threats that no single nation can combat independently. By pooling resources and expertise, nations can implement large-scale conservation projects and enforce regulations that have far-reaching positive impacts on the planet’s ecological balance.

Equally critical is the role of shared technological innovation in mitigating environmental problems effectively and sustainably. The rapid dissemination and adoption of clean energy technologies across borders are absolutely essential for significantly reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Notably, initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, spearheaded by India and France, underscore how collaborative efforts in technology transfer, financial investment, and knowledge sharing can facilitate the widespread adoption of sustainable energy solutions worldwide. Such innovative partnerships not only expedite the crucial transition to renewable energy sources but also bolster economic development and resilience in regions that are most vulnerable to the devastating impacts of climate change, promoting global sustainability.

In conclusion, the resolution of environmental issues necessitates a global strategy that combines effective governance with technological collaboration. By uniting in our efforts, we harness the collective power necessary to safeguard our planet for future generations.

It is the job of governments and companies to deal with the huge environmental problems which we face. Individuals on their own can do little or nothing’. What is your opinion about this statement?

It must also be acknowledged that individuals have a moral responsibility to care for our planet . For example, reducing consumption of fossil fuels whenever possible, becoming self-sufficient by growing their own vegetables and switching off lights when they are not needed. Although some of these actions may seem minor, the cumulative effect of everyone taking such actions would be enormous.

Climate change is a phenomenon that affects countries all over the world. Many people strongly believe that it is the responsibility of individuals, rather than corporations and governments, to deal with this problem. To what extent do you agree?

Sample Answer

Climate change is a very real danger that threatens not only our lives but also the quality of life of future generations. to combat this i strongly disagree that individuals need to take responsibility because governments, in cooperation with private companies have both a greater responsibility and capacity in this matter., climate change cannot simply be the responsibility of private citizens because they do not have the ability to affect large systemic changes in the way that governments in conjunction with corporations do. people can only contribute in small ways; for every person who recycles there are several people who do not and there is no certain way to change this. governments, on the other hand, can enact legislation requiring both individuals and large corporations to abide by certain restrictions. laws for corporations are the real solution as they contribute by far the most to climate change and by reducing how much waste produced and how they treat that waste, climate change can be seriously countered., the second reason governments should be responsible for combating climate change is that governments are responsible for global problems while individuals should only have to deal with local and personal problems. a person should only concern themselves with their job and personal life because that is the extent of their responsibility. governments are responsible for various things related to their citizens including security, health care in some cases, and education. included in security is the environment because it impacts citizen’s well-being; therefore this falls under the remit of governmental responsibility., individuals will never be able to have the effect government will and it is not their responsibility at any rate. in my opinion, governments, by taking measures to rein in corporate and private waste are taking up their rightful burden., introduction:   1. climate change is a very real danger that threatens not only our lives but also the quality of life of future generations. 2. to combat this i strongly disagree that individuals need to take responsibility because governments, in cooperation with private companies have both a greater responsibility and capacity in this matter., 1. the first sentence simply restates the topic and adds an extra detail to make it more powerful., 2. the second sentence clearly states my opinion, which necessary to get at least a band 5 for task achievement., body paragraph 1:   1. climate change cannot simply be the responsibility of private citizens because they do not have the ability to affect large systemic changes in the way that governments in conjunction with corporations do. 2. people can only contribute in small ways; Kristen

I have a question about this sentence ” for every person who recycles there are several people who do not…” . Can I rewrite ” for every person who recycles while there are several people who do not..” ?

Dave

No Kristen, you can switch it around a bit and write ‘While many people recycle, there are even more who do not.’

Helena

Earth has been suffering from climate change for more than several years. Surviving our own planet is a pressing challenge, although whether public or government should shoulder this responsibility is a matter of controversy. while I consider individual part, I believe that government, in cooperation with private companies, play more provital and crucial rules. People are fundamental elements of society. that is, every individual actions directly affects on whole Community. Dropping litter at the ocean or barrien terrain, often lasting more than 100 years to decomposed, gradually destroy a species habitats and turn mainland into pitch pot. There will be a chance to recycling wast, providing that suitable separation has been done at homes, restaurants, as well as work places. A recent study has shown that Iranian per capita plastic bottle consumption was around 50 kilograms in 2017, while approximately 25% of which were separated at homes. looking from an overall perspective, residents could manage 1 billion ton plastic waste annually that would be great success.if this trend could be appliable to other types of the waste, the amount of rubbish would dramatically reduced and instead there would be alternatives for simply throwing them away such as producing compost from fruit and food remnants.

Nevertheless, government in conjunction with corporation can affect environment in larger scale. the main culprit of air pollution are cars and factories. introducing harsh laws against vehicles with high rate of greenhouse gases emission is initial step which result in not only enforce factories to manufacture more efficient cars but also decline drivers tendency to purchase the cars with high emissions. Exorbitant taxes levied on products, which have been produced by pollutant industries, is another way that could have promising effect in societal level. Organization can impose sanction against industrial sections breaking the environmental laws and their emission exceed limits.

to sum up. Government and cooperation’s comprehensive and global rule trump individual effect which has lead to minor changes. Moving toward eco-friendly products and sustainable energy sources might be a best remdy for current catastrophe.

Great Helena!

More than several years is awkward phrasing. Hard to know when it started so better to just say that it is becoming an increasingly pressing problem.

Some of your sentences are too long – try to simplify so that they are easier to read.

The term, climate change has become such a common phrase that one can hear it anywhere because countries all over the world are being affected by this problem. Majority of the people have belief that these are the individuals who are responsible for the eradication of this major problem instead of fixing the responsibility of corporations and governments also . In my opinion, all, including corporations, government and individuals should come forward to cope with this disaster rather than making anyone to be responsible. I will explain my point in detail in the essay,

IELTS Writing Task 2 essay topic: Advantages and disadvantages of technology in education

Introduction: In recent years, technology has revolutionised the education sector, providing both benefits and drawbacks. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating technology into education and argue that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Body Paragraph 1 (Advantages): One major advantage of technology in education is enhanced learning opportunities. With the help of interactive multimedia tools, students can access a vast range of information and resources, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of complex concepts. Additionally, technology promotes student engagement and active learning, as it enables personalised and interactive teaching methods.

Body Paragraph 2 (Disadvantages) : Despite the numerous advantages, there are some disadvantages to using technology in education. Firstly, excessive reliance on technology may lead to a decrease in face-to-face interaction and hinder the development of crucial social skills. Moreover, the availability of inaccurate or biased information on the internet can pose a challenge in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of sources used for academic purposes.

Body Paragraph 3 (Benefits outweigh drawbacks) : However, the benefits of technology in education far outweigh the drawbacks. By incorporating technology, educational institutions can bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and the digital world, preparing students for future careers that heavily rely on technological literacy. Furthermore, technology can facilitate distance learning, reaching students who are geographically isolated or have limited access to educational resources.

Conclusion: In conclusion, technology has transformed education by offering enhanced learning opportunities and promoting student engagement. While there are some disadvantages associated with technology, the benefits of incorporating it into education outweigh the drawbacks. It is crucial for educators to strike a balance between traditional teaching methods and technology to maximize the potential of both.

IELTS Writing Task 2 essay topic: Effects of global warming on the environment

Introduction : Global warming, caused primarily by human activities, has become a pressing issue with far-reaching consequences for the environment. This essay will explore the effects of global warming on the environment and argue that urgent action is required to mitigate its detrimental impacts.

Body Paragraph 1 (Rise in temperatures) : One of the most significant effects of global warming is the rise in temperatures worldwide. This leads to the melting of polar ice caps and glaciers, resulting in sea-level rise and an increased frequency of extreme weather events such as hurricanes and heat waves. Moreover, higher temperatures disrupt ecosystems, endangering various plant and animal species.

Body Paragraph 2 (Loss of biodiversity) : Global warming poses a significant threat to biodiversity. As temperatures increase, many species struggle to adapt or migrate to more suitable habitats, leading to their decline or extinction. The loss of biodiversity has severe consequences for ecosystem stability, as each species plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance.

Body Paragraph 3 (Environmental degradation) : Another consequence of global warming is environmental degradation. Rising temperatures contribute to the acidification of oceans, damaging coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Additionally, increased carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere lead to oceanic dead zones, negatively impacting marine life. Deforestation, driven by the need for resources and land for agriculture, exacerbates global warming by reducing the Earth's capacity to absorb carbon dioxide.

In conclusion, global warming has profound effects on the environment, including rising temperatures, loss of biodiversity, and environmental degradation. Immediate and concerted efforts are necessary to address this issue, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable practices, and preserving natural habitats. Only through collective action can we mitigate the impacts of global warming and protect our planet for future generations.

These sample essays showcase the structure, vocabulary, and coherence necessary to achieve a band 9 score. Remember to practice writing within the time constraints of the IELTS test (40 minutes for the writing section).

Essay 428 – Environmental problems should be solved on a global scale

Gt writing task 2 / essay sample # 428.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Some people think that environmental problems should be solved on a global scale, while others believe that they should be dealt with at a national level.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer:

The issue of addressing environmental problems has become increasingly significant in today’s world. While some argue that global cooperation is essential to tackle these challenges effectively, others contend that focusing on national-level efforts is the key. This essay will explore both perspectives before presenting the necessity of a collaborative approach to tackle environmental issues.

Supporters of addressing environmental problems on a global scale emphasize the interconnected nature of these issues. They argue that environmental challenges, such as climate change and biodiversity loss, transcend national boundaries and require collective action. Global cooperation allows for the sharing of scientific knowledge, best practices, and resources, enabling countries to pool their efforts towards finding comprehensive solutions. For instance, international agreements like the Paris Agreement have united nations in setting targets and implementing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.

On the other hand, proponents of a national-level approach believe that each country should prioritize its own environmental concerns according to its unique circumstances. They argue that countries have different ecological contexts, economic capacities, and social priorities that influence their environmental agendas. By focusing on national-level solutions, governments can tailor their policies to address specific challenges and ensure that their actions align with their domestic needs. For example, a country with significant deforestation issues may implement strict regulations and initiatives to protect its forests and wildlife, directly targeting its specific environmental concerns.

However, it is crucial to recognize that global and national approaches are not mutually exclusive but can complement each other. While global cooperation is necessary for addressing shared challenges, national-level actions play a vital role in implementing global commitments at the local level. Moreover, effective national-level efforts can serve as models and inspire other countries to take similar actions, thereby fostering a ripple effect of positive change on a global scale. This is why collaborative national and international efforts are required to efficiently address environmental problems.

In conclusion, while global cooperation enables collaboration and coordination among nations, national-level approaches allow for tailored solutions and prioritize specific environmental concerns. My own opinion is that a combination of global cooperation and national-level actions is crucial for effectively addressing environmental problems.

IELTS Global Warming Essay - Model Answer

Probably the most worrying threat to our planet at the present time is global warming. This essay will examine the reasons why global warming is occurring and discuss some possible solutions.

The predominant factors resulting in the warming of the earth are the emissions of CO2 and deforestation. CO2, which damages the ozone layer, comes from several sources, but the most problematic are those coming from the burning of fossil fuels from power plants. This releases thousands of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere every year. Another cause of these emissions is the burning of gasoline for transportation, which continues to grow because of our demand for cars and also our increasing worldwide consumption, resulting in an escalating need to transport goods. Also, forests store large amounts of carbon, so deforestation is causing larger amounts of CO2 to remain in the atmosphere.

Nevertheless, there are potential ways to solve these problems, or at least reduce the effects. Firstly, governments need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and promote alternatives. Plant-derived plastics, biodiesel, wind power and solar power are all things that are a step in the right direction, but governments need to enforce the limits on CO2 emissions for the polluting industries in their countries for these to be effective. Also, individuals can play a part by making lifestyle changes. People should try to buy cars with the best fuel economy, and only use their car when really necessary. They can also switch to energy companies that use renewable energy rather than fossil fuels. Finally, small things like buying energy efficient light bulbs, turning off electricity in the house, and planting trees in the garden can help.

To conclude, although global warming is a serious issue, there are steps that governments and individuals can take to reduce its effects. If we are to save our planet, it is important that this is treated as a priority for all concerned.
