Free sample essay on The Most Beautiful Place I Have Seen. There are so many nice places on the earth. They are scattered across the country. Every place has its own distinct features.

There are so many nice places on the earth. They are scattered across the country. Every place has its own distinct features. Some places have scenic beauty in abundance while many are famous for their architectural wonders. In addition every person has different tastes, choices and likings. Several people enjoy the sight of scenic beauty; some are attracted towards places of historical and archaeological interests. A few may be interested in visiting places of religious importance.

I have visited so many places of historical and tourist interest. But the visit which has a lasting impression on my mind is the visit of Kashmir. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. It is said to be the heaven on earth. It has the accolade of being “The Switzerland of India”. I was wonderstruck to see the ravishing beauty of Kashmir. With snow-clad mountains, tall-trees of Chinar, lush green plains and valleys, Kashmir is one of the most bewitching places on earth. It has been a great attraction for the tourists all across the country and abroad as well.

Kashmir is located in the Himalayan region. It is widely famous for its rich flora and fauna. The place holds great importance for the tourists who want to visit religious places. Kashmir is the home of deities and bounties. Kashmir has historical monuments, picturesque spots, enchanting landscapes and green forests in abundance. Some rare species of wild animals are found in the high altitude of Kashmir. Kashmir has been the abode of saints and sages. It is the land of gods and goddesses. Its serpentine rivers, huge calm lakes, mighty waterfalls, long lines of cypress trees are some of the delightful attractions for the tourists.

Wild strawberries are grown all over the Kashmir. Varieties of flowers add to the beauty of Kashmir. It is one of the best natural spots of India. Its exquisite scenery, superb sights, green fields combine to add to the grandeur of this God-gifted paradise on earth. Apart from the scenic beauty, the Shalimar and Nishaat Bagh, have great historical importance. They were built by Mughal King Jehangir.

The Chashme Shahi is known for its medicinal values. The Tattapani or the Sulphur lake water is believed to cure different types of skin diseases. Gulmarg and Sonmarg are the trekker’s trails. Chandanwari, Verinag, Anantnag and Nagin Lake are worth seeing places. The scene of Dal Lake with houseboats and their reflections in still waters of the lake present an impressive sight. The cave of Amarnath where the temple of Lord Shiva is located is a marvellous place for the religious tourists. Situated at a height of 15,000 ft., it is crowded during the month of September-October. Besides, there are shrines of historical and religious interest. Every year thousands of pilgrims visit these places from all across the country.

Kashmir is abundantly endowed with some of the best hill stations in India. They are Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Pahalgam and Khilanmarg. Apart from having great scenic attraction, these places are good health resorts. Khilanmarg is the best place where tree-line ends in Kashmir.

All these and many more like its cultural hues, narrow ravines and gorges as well as hills and dales make it a heavenly abode on earth. Indeed, the beauty of Kashmir is enchanting.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Posted by Amazing Traveler | May 24, 2017 | America | 0 |

Majestic scenery, wilderness, and wildlife make up the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Millions of people travel to the United States to visit Yosemite National Park every year, but for me, it was more than just a national park, it was the most beautiful place I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Drenched in history, the Yosemite National Park was first discovered by Native Americans over 10,000 years ago, and we can thank President Abraham Lincoln who first signed a grant in 1864 to permanently protect the land. Yosemite was one of the first territories preserved for its scenic beauty, public use, and continued enjoyment.

The Yosemite National Park is renowned worldwide for being one of the most beautiful national parks to visit. It situate in Central Sierra Nevada of California, and 95% of the park officially class as wilderness (that is huge considering the entire park covers 1200 square miles)!

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

I will never forget to look up to witness the most incredible, dramatic waterfalls pounding down from sheer cliff edges. Awe-inspiring granite cliffs and crystal clear streams surrounding me and putting the power of nature into perspective. If you have ever considered exploring the Yosemite National Park, please give yourself plenty of time to do so. A week was not long enough for me!

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Placing the enchanted landscapes to the side; my main inspiration to visit Yosemite stemmed from all the stories I had heard of wildlife living in peace and protection in their natural habitats. I had read about wild coyotes, black bears, mountain lions, river otters, pumas, panthers and over 200 species of birds circling the area! Of course, you are not guaranteed to see everything, but by giving myself a week there, I was able to see quite a lot.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Useful & Interesting Fact!

According to various articles, there are approximately 400-500 black bears in Yosemite but it is important you know what to do should you ever come face-to-face with one of them. Yes, they are gorgeous to look at and watch (I had the pleasure of seeing four black bears during my time there) but, as you will be aware, they can be dangerous if you find yourself too close. Maybe easier said than done but try not to show fear if this happens. Stand your ground, raise your arms and make almighty loud noises!!! It says that bears will most likely be scared away.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

My top 5 things to do in Yosemite National Park:

Visit yosemite valley.

Described as the most stunning location in the whole of America, the Yosemite Valley is of course not to miss. It is seven miles long and less than a mile wide accommodating the Merced River which flows through it. Here I was lucky enough to witness how the deer and coyotes live; to say this was an enjoyable experience would be an understatement.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Visit Yosemite Falls

It is the highest waterfall in the Yosemite National Park and the fifth-highest waterfall in the entire world. The impact of the water as it hits the base of the lower fall echoes through much of the valley and if you are lucky you will witness the most magical rainbow on a sunny day. It is a common sight for explorers!

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

El Capitan Rock Climbing Mecca

Rising more than 3,000 feet straight up from the Yosemite Valley floor, this is said to be the single largest piece of granite in the world! This world-class destination for experienced climbers is a wonder to climb, and I loved every second of it.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Yosemite Tunnel View

This iconic scene is one of the most stunning things I have ever seen. It allows the perfect balance of sights including El Capitan on the left, Half Dome in the center and Bridalveil Fall on the right! It’s one of the first views you will encounter upon entering the Yosemite Valley and will leave you speechless.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Mariposa Grove

Just wow! Have you ever had the pleasure of seeing the majestic Redwood Trees? These are known to be the largest living thing in the world and can grow up to 85m in height. Visit the Mariposa Grove for a full dose of these enormous trees and the ‘Grizzly Giant’ which is believed to be over 2,700 years old.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Are you an adventurer, an explorer of all things wild and beautiful? I sure am.

Hiking, backpacking, and skiing are all possible at this magnificent area of the world. I spent time indulging in the action packed sports activities such as snowboarding, white-water rafting, hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing the sheer cliff edges at the Yosemite National Park! The wilderness is a real escape from the stresses of modern day civilization, and you can rely on the bubbling natural hot springs to soothe your mind and energy. Sample Answer 1

Lately, I visited the Glacier National Park. The trip gave me immense pleasure after a long time period. This is one such area where nature has bestowed her exquisiteness to the mountains. The place is ideal for hiking and trekking. I consider myself fortunate that I got an opportunity to visit this place.

For long, I have been travelling to nearby places, sometimes alone, other times with my family. However, to the Glacier National Park, I visited alone. The area is rocky and filled with natural beauties. Thus, as per my perception, the best time to visit this park is during winter. This opinion may differ accordingly. I can guarantee that the best time is winter as I have visited this place in varying seasons but found the end of the year to be the perfect time. So, my last visit was somewhere in the middle of December.

To visit this place all alone, there were several reasons. I wanted to spend some quality time by myself. In my office, I had a massive workload. Being a professional in an IT agency, I had to work under stringent rules and regulations. Keeping all of this in mind, I was too exhausted to spend another week in the office. So, to rejuvenate myself, improve productivity and get back my strength, I decided to take a week off and travel.

As far as my experience is concerned, I found this place to be a naturally tranquil one. I found serenity by spending time in this place. The wilderness of the mountains simply flabbergasted me. The carved valleys and peaks were magnificent. Moreover, I had some good time hiking and riding on a boat. There were also camping services, but I was unable to avail them. Cycling was another adventurous activity I could find there. The night was bright and the million stars soothe your anxiety in no time.

I also liked the lakes and wide glaciers of the park. Out of all, I liked the mountain ranges the most as they were different from others that I have seen.

Sample Answer 2

India is an amazingly beautiful country. It is bounded by the Himalayan range in the north and is covered by the Arabian Sea in the west, the Bay of Bengal in the east and the Indian Ocean in the south. I have visited many places in India. I have always been a mountain person. On that note, I visited Sikkim last winter. It was a beautiful trip of 20 days. I don’t clearly remember the exact date, but it was in May, 2019.

The weather was very chilly there. I visited the place with my family, which includes my parents and my sister and it was a beautiful experience. I have realised that you can have the most adventurous and daring trip with your friends, but it’s a different kind of fun with your family. When you are out with your parents, you might not be allowed to do daring things like you can do with your friends but you can have a safe and beautiful trip. You can always notice a change in parents’ behaviour, especially when you are on vacation. Neither do they scold their children to be disciplined nor follow the house rules. They shed off their strict self and tend to become friends and enjoy the beauty of nature along with you. I had my sister, who was my best friend too. We were always together.

Visiting a mountain region in winter is a challenge. It was extremely cold and snowy everywhere. We were visiting the place for the second time. So we didn’t go sightseeing and stayed and visited the local places which we missed. It was as if the snow-capped mountains were calling us. We visited a village and decided to spend the entire afternoon with them. The people there were so humble. They offered us food. It was the most memorable incident there.

Sikkim is one of the smallest states of India, situated in the Northeastern part. Since my childhood, I was drawn towards mountains more than I was towards the sea. Mountains are always the most peaceful and calm place one can ever be, and I think it is the most attractive part. After we returned, we relived the old memories. I loved that place. We watched the photographs that we clicked. Those are the only memories we can ever get hold of.

Sample Answer 3

Although I am not a religious person, The Golden Temple has attracted me since I began to explore. I had expressed the wish of visiting the temple to my parents multiple times, but we could not plan a single trip to Amritsar due to my busy schedule. So, they decided to surprise me and fulfilled my wish by ending our Himachal Pradesh trip in Amritsar.

My parents, and rarely, some of my close friends, had been my constant travel companion and so, no one else could accompany me on one of my dream trips other than these special people of my life.

As usual, our Himachal trip was a huge success, but I was excited to go back home after the 20 days trip to celebrate my 25th birthday with my near and dear ones. Therefore, I was irked when we took a detour, which was already planned and I was unaware of. However, when we landed in Amritsar, I became ecstatic. As aforementioned, they had planned to make my birthday memorable by visiting the Golden Temple. Everything went as planned, and at the end of the day, seated by the Amrit Sarovar with my pillars by my side, brought happy tears to my eyes.

The Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib is not only a pious place for the Sikhs but is also a symbol of brotherhood. It was first built by Guru Arjan, the fifth Sikh Guru, in 1604, while the foundation was laid by Mian Mir, a Muslim aesthetic from Lahore. It has faced defacement by various Afghan invaders and was finally rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. This amalgamation of various cultures is respected and celebrated in the architecture and philosophy related to this monument. What I like the most about this place is that anybody, irrespective of their caste, religion, or race, is welcomed, offered food and can find solace without hindrance. For me, it is a symbol of humility, equality, and fraternity in a country that houses heterogeneous cultures and beliefs. This visit to one of my favourite places gave me the strength to fight all odds and calmed my anxieties.

IELTS TOPIC: A Place You Visited On a Vacation

10/16/2021 02:30 PM

Things to consider:

  • The question says "a place" but don't get confused. A place in this context means an area or a city NOT  a specific place like a coffee shop or temple.
  • You don't need to talk about a super famous area you visited. It could be a less well-known location.
  • Give more examples of what you've done on day one, day two, day three . Mention different activities.
  • Try to begin with a few examples of your travels, for instance:
  • I've had so many interesting vacations...
  • I've visited many interesting cities and natural places like...
  • Quite a few locations come to my mind such as...

essay about the best place i have ever visited

Part 2: Sample Answer

Alright, so I haven't been on a vacation for at least 3 years, and I’m already feeling exhausted and eager to hit the road . The reason for this gap is, obviously , Covid-19 . As the world has been completely shut down the last 2 years, I mostly remained in the same place I work, daydreaming about some paradise beach location . Anyway, I’ll tell you about my last vacation in Thailand .

I'm givind a brief idea about my traveling in the last few years and introduce the vacation.

I went to Thailand 3 years ago, in the autumn . Me and 3 friends prepared and spent about 10 days traveling around Thailand and visiting two main cities – Chiang Mai and Pattaya . I will focus my story on the city of Chiang Mai , as that place completely blew my mind . I have to say I had some of the most amazing moments in my life over there, and that is not an exaggeration .

I introduce the cities I visited and my feelings in general.

Thailand is usually well known for its beach resorts and seaside vacations , however , Chieng Mai is exactly the opposite . It is located inside of the country, and it is an animal sanctuary . I was shocked by how many zoos and animal parks the place had. We stayed for 3 nights in the city, and it was an awesome experience . We visited a few animal attractions like a Night Safari Zoo , where you hop on a train at night and feed all sorts of exotic animals . This was a fantastic experience . Another thing I did was visit a tiger petting zoo and a tiger show . Before this point, I didn't even know tigers can become literally like pets, hugging and kissing people as they go . But the highlight of my whole travel was my experience with taking care of elephants . I spend a whole day at an elephant sanctuary , feeding , bathing , mudding , walking,  and playing with elephants. This was the best experience I’ve ever had in my whole life, and I’d definitely return to do it again.

I describe a few activities I've done on that vacation.

I always knew about Thailand, but once traveling to the country, I completely rediscovered the place. The clean streets , the insanely cheap cost of living (everything was two or three times cheaper than any other country I’ve visited), the fantastic food , the friendly and warm people, made me appreciate the country and even start planning many future visits . I can’t wait to go there again.

Explaining my feelings about the building.

Sentence starters and Linking words

Vocabulary related to the topic, part 3 questions.

In Part 3 we continue to take a look at some questions related to going on vacations, and we'll discuss people's habits related to going on vacations.

essay about the best place i have ever visited

Examiner:   What are some popular attractions that people like to visit in your country?

Top destinations.

  • People love visiting the top tourist destinations . Everyone has a bucket list of locations like The Great Wall of China, The Eiffel Tower in Paris, The Pyramids in Giza, or Big Ben and the Buckingham Palace in London. These are usually packed with tourists almost all the time in the year including winter.

Little-known Areas

  • Thanks to the internet, a lot of people are opting out of the big bombastic attractions and go to visit some less-known natural or peaceful locations. These could be some small villages, natural parks , city suburbs , lakes , or riversides . You can mention a few of these locations that have become popular in recent years .

* Answer for China, as I live here at the moment.

Well, as you know , China has 5000 years of history . There are so many ancient ruins and places to visit throughout the country. There are famous locations like one of the 7 Wonders of the World – The Great Wall , or many emperor’s palaces like the Forbidden City in Beijing . There is the infamous Terracotta Army , which is a stone army with thousands of soldiers protecting the emperor in his afterlife. And of course, for those who prefer some modern attractions , China has developed into a contemporary futuristic country , with shiny megacities like Shanghai , Shenzhen , or Chengdu . People there can enjoy the sight of skyscrapers and modern technological entertainment such as drone shows .

Examiner:   Do old people and young people choose different places to go on a vacation? Why?

For the old.

  • Older people are less mobile , and so they can't do long-distance activities . Most of the time they would choose to go to a spa , a big hotel or would join a tour group with a bus, riding comfortably around town. B e cause of this reason , there are many summer and winter resorts that cater directly to older people with all-included promotions and musical programs at night.

For The Young

  • Young people are more adventurous and full of energy and would prefer to make unique experiences . Many would hike or backpack throughout a country, climb a hill or a mountain , do dangerous extreme sports and activities such as bungee jumping or sky diving,  and many more. T h e younger people are definitely more carefree and seek excitement and adrenalin .

Examiner:   What do young people and old people think about when making travel plans?

  • As mentioned earlier , younger people care about the experience which means they don't need to spend too much money on a fancy stay at a hotel but would prefer to simply rent a room on Airbnb and call it a day . They would use their money for exclusive experiences , parties , food , and activities . Of course, for those who are a young couple, they might prefer going to some romantic place , and that could cost a bit more than usual .
  • Older people consider comfort above all . This means that they choose better quality hotels, better quality transportation, better quality service, and food. While young people are satisfied with trying street snacks , older people would only dine at a restaurant and that restaurant has to be with good service and proper environment . Older people are more willing to spend for comfort .

Ok so, for the youth, I believe it’s all about the experience . They want to visit something brand new , something unique , they’ve only read in their encyclopedias and of course, they’d try to save money as much as possible . Young people are willing to sacrifice comfort for experience. On the other hand , the older we get, the higher our standards get. This means we would even refuse to travel if we had to stay in a hostel or a 2-star motel , but instead, we would save more money and spend it on a luxury cruise , or a fancy spa hotel . Again, it is about the experience, but it is about a comfy , satisfying , and a bit lux experience .

Examiner:   How do people find out about a new place?

  • These days we can get all the necessary information and recommendations online. There are video-sharing platforms , blogs , vlogs , travel guides , panoramic photos , and even Google Earth . A person can see every single place from the world on his mobile phone and then decide on a vacation plan for himself.

Word of Mouth

  • Oftentimes, people get influenced by their friends, relatives , or even strangers Looking at Facebook or Instagram and seeing people travel to exotic destinations inspires people to book their own vacations in those places. Moreover , family members and friends would recommend each other  vacation places and share opinions or little-known facts about those places.

These days, mostly on the internet. As many video-sharing platforms like Tik Tok or YouTube exploded with popularity , nowadays people are glued to the screen watching video reviews and the exotic travels of vloggers from all around the world . There is no better way to learn about a new travel destination than watching 5 or 10 video reviews of the location. At a time, you might even get enough by simply watching, and at times people make exquisite travel plans for that location. For instance, I’ve watched multiple short videos about diving in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and now this spot has become on the top of my list for traveling.

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been to…

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been to…

  • Ben Schlappig
  • August 6, 2011

A couple of days ago I posted a few pictures of my journey from Phuket , though didn’t reveal where I was heading. Well, the answer is to another relaxation destination, namely Berchtesgaden. I’ve been meaning to stay at the InterContinental Berchtesgaden for years, though never had a practical opportunity to do so, until now (due in part to the fact that I’m finally old enough to rent a car).

Berchtesgaden is about a two hour drive from Munich Airport. Not only is the hotel spectacular, but the town and scenery is stunning. It’s truly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, along with Queenstown, New Zealand.

I’ll save all the details for the trip report, though will simply say this is the most relaxing place I’ve been in a long time. Beaches don’t excite me. I don’t like sand, don’t especially like the sun (I look like a lobster after about an hour of sunlight), and don’t particularly like old people in Speedos. I do, however, like mountains.

Now I’m off to my next destination. Of course in the interest of consistency I won’t reveal it either, though I will say it’s a spectacular hotel redemption, if that’s any sort of a clue.

Hurry up and post the full review! Thinking about going to Berchtesgaden around the beginning of October.

Reader, don't get your speedos in a twist. Lucky didn't say he dislikes all old people, only those in speedos. I'm older and couldn't agree more. If I offered to show you a picture of me in a bikini now and 30 years ago, which would you choose?

Lucky did nothing wrong. He expressed an opinion and you are wrong for so impolitely discouraging it.

Have you bothered to ask old people what they think of you. The more your personality comes out the more arrogant it appears.

Hope your business of blogging does well. Remember not to piss off your readers.

Off to Schloss Fuschl next?

Lucky, ever thought about traveling around Norway? Seems like it might be your kind of place.

Coins, when you say that you don't like old people in speedos, I understand. I dislike speedos. But answer this... when you say old people, how old are you talking about? 35, 45, 58, 75? Careful how you answer cough cough.

I loved this place also. Its amazing the the IC Berchtesgaden was built in the exact spot of Herman Goering's house. Also fron the indoor pool you can look up and see Hitler's old eagles Nest. I hope you took the electric boats on the Konigsee. I loved the echo.

Lucky, you live in the wrong state!

I was just in Munich earlier this week and had been planning to visit Berchtesgaden but the heavy rain deterred me. I went to Salzburg instead which was beautiful too. Driving in Germany is a lot of fun too!

I know it is a different country but "the hills are alive......."

The Place I Have Visited: Kyrgyzstan Essay

  • To find inspiration for your paper and overcome writer’s block
  • As a source of information (ensure proper referencing)
  • As a template for you assignment

One of the most beautiful places I have visited is the country of Kyrgyzstan. It lies in a mountainous area with stunning landscapes and nature untouched by humanity’s footprint. Kyrgyzstan is one of the former Soviet republics, which declared its independence in 1991 and joined the CIS. The country is unique with its pristine nature and numerous biosphere reserves. Besides, the Kyrgyz culture represents the nomadic lifestyle and rich history of the people. Along with an authentic cultural experience, Kyrgyzstan offers a great backpacking adventure for those who pay a visit.

When I first saw the beauty of the country’s nature, I was genuinely impressed. The picturesque scenery made me feel like I found myself in a storybook or a fairy tale. The open space seems to have no limits and stretches as far as the eye can see. Many countries are known for their beautiful nature, but the experience in Kyrgyzstan is unlike any other. As Stamboulis (2018) stated, the country is not highly populated, and no strict regulations prevent locals and tourists from exploring the countryside in its beauty, which, nevertheless, is not harmful to the wildlife. In such conditions, nature is blooming, the air always smells fresh, and clear water runs in rivers and streams.

Kyrgyzstan is often referred to as the “Swiss Alps of Central Asia” because of its location. The country lies between the Tien-Shan and the Pamir-Alay mountain ranges and encompasses a variety of ecosystems, among which mountain glaciers and arid canyons, alpine pastures and valleys, lakes and rivers (Jenish, 2017). The continental climate adds up to the unique experience one can get in the country, as various activities are available in different seasons, from swimming and horse riding to snowboarding and skiing. Kyrgyzstan cannot be boring, because wildlife is abundant and worth sightseeing in the country.

Visiting Kyrgyzstan is like being alive a hundred years ago, living in a country that is pure and innocent. As I arrived in Kyrgyzstan, the atmosphere of people’s life there astonished me. Even though the country has become more progressive, some locals still practice a semi-nomadic lifestyle, allowing the tourists to learn about the Kyrgyz culture and traditions. Apart from hiking in the mountains, another remarkable experience was tasting beshbarmak, a dish made of meat and noodles. It is meant to be eaten with hands, without cutlery, to focus on the flavors. However, it is difficult to name just one notable thing about Kyrgyzstan, since many experiences come to my mind. During my trip, I saw ancient petroglyphs of an old civilization and the historical routes of the Great Silk Road, tasted blini (traditional pancakes), touched the waters of Lake Issyk-Kul, and got a chance to see the works of local artisans. The hospitality of the Kyrgyz people, direct descendants of Genghis Khan, to westerners made my experience unforgettable.

To sum up, Kyrgyzstan is a country of friendly people and beautiful views, attractive for tourists who want to expand their horizons and come into contact with nature. The Kyrgyz culture has developed over the centuries, but the influence of nomadic life can be tracked up to today. This feature makes the country a fascinating destination for people who like to learn something new about other nations. The country is highly underrated as a tourist landmark, but visiting it is a remarkable experience.

A Visit to a Historical Place Essay: 100 Words

Recently our school organized an educational trip to the Taj Mahal, Agra. The Taj Mahal is the most beautiful monument built in the Mughal period. It is one of the wonders of the world. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

This gateway of Taj Mahal is built with the use of Red Sandstone. There is a beautiful garden that begins at the main gateway and ends at the base of the monument. The building is made of pure white marble. It took twenty thousand workmen and twenty years to build. The monument is built on the bank of the river Yamuna.  It was the most beautiful building I had ever seen.

Last Sunday, we went to the Red Fort by a specially hired bus. Along the entrance two rows of shops selling various objects of art besides selling handicrafts. During the Mughal times, this was known as Meena Bazaar. After crossing the lawn, we reached the historic building known as ‘Naubat Khana’. Then we saw ‘Diwan-e-Aam’ or the Hall of Public Audience.

Then we went to the ’Rang Mahal’ which was a place of pleasures and richly inlaid with precious stones in the Mughal period. There is a ‘Khas Mahal’ beside the Rang Mahal. It has a beautiful marble screen. The Red Fort also has the War Memorial Museum where weapons used in the First World War are exhibited. We got to see many historical things that we read in our books. We enjoyed the trip very much.

Essay on a Visit to a Historical Place: 150 Words

My dream came true when last month our history teacher arranged a trip to Agra for us. It was 24 October when we reached there. That very afternoon we went to see the famous Taj Mahal. It is a masterpiece of architecture-all in marble. We admired the four more mosques with tall slender minarets and the huge central dome. The surroundings lend beauty to it. The mausoleum stands in the center of a big garden with marble water channels, rows of fountains, and stately cypress trees.

The tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife lie beneath the dome. We went to see the Agra Fort too. When Shah Jahan was confined there, he spent his time gazing at the mausoleum of his creation from his prison window. We saw things that we had read about in our books-the Dewan-i-Am, the Diwan-i-Khas, the Pearl Mosque, and the Shish Mahal. A visit to a place of historical importance does make history real and interesting. It was a wonderful trip.

A Visit to a Historical Place

A Visit to a Historical Place Essay: 200-250 Words

A visit to a historical place is very educative. It instructs as well as entertains us. I am fond of visiting historical buildings. Last year, I went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. In the evening, we went to see the Taj Mahal. I had heard a lot about the beauty of the Taj Mahal. But reality surpassed the descriptions that had been given to me.

It is a wonder in marble, a specimen of Mughal art. Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was built about three hundred and fifty years ago.  It stands on the right bank of the river Yamuna. The gateway which is made of red stone is very beautiful. The garden is very lovely. The tall dark cypress trees, smooth green lawns, and the beds of flowers are pleasing to the eyes. The fountains flow here and there.

The main building is made of white marble. It stands on a raised platform. At its four corners, there are four stately towers. Inside the tomb, Emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved Mumtaz Mahal lie buried side by side. This monument tells us about the expertise of the artists and craftsmen of that era. The visit to the Taj Mahal was a wonderful experience for us. It was both enjoyable and educational.

The best place i have ever visited – Istanbul

Filed Under: Essays Tagged With: roman empire , travel

There always has to be a place where people spend an amazing time to investigate or just to have the memory of what happen in that particular place and has a significant meaning. I never had one of those favorite places before I visited an unforgettable place, Istanbul, Turkey Honestly, I didn’t have too much curiosity to visit it, but when I already visited my point of view completely changed. Many people would ask why especially Istanbul, but there are 3 main reasons that I am going to describe to prove my opinion. First of all, Istanbul is a historical place and literally history is everywhere. As known Istanbul served as the capital of four empires: the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Latin Empire, and the Ottoman Empire so having all of these cultures combined in one place and their magnificent landmarks everywhere through the past made it a famous old city.

There are many ancient buildings such as Topkapı Palace (or as known in Turkish Topkapı Sarayı), Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet Camii), Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi), and Maiden’s tower (Kız Kulesi).

Also there are many old and modern museums such as the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum and Istanbul Modern. In addition, if you are looking to go shopping, there is simply just one place to head to – Istanbul. Istanbul is full of old and modern shops with affordable prices.

Moreover, many of these shops are famous such as the Grand Bazaar (KapalıçarĆŸÄ±), Taksim Square (Taksim Meydanı), and Istanbul Sapphire which is the seventh tallest skyscraper in Europe. Also as a tourist, I would highly recommend using the many transport systems available in the city including The Metro System and the Sea bus. As a busy city like Istanbul, traffic sometimes gets the better of you and can really cause problems. Therefore, many people choose to hop onto a Sea Catamaran to zip across the Bosphorus or the Sea of Marmara to get to your desired location.

The Essay on The Reason Why Cambodia Is a Great Place to Visit

Since Cambodia is a developing country, it has gradually became popular with many tourist destinations. Cambodia has a lot of beautiful scenery and historical places. Also the people there are very nice. The culture and the dishes are really special. There are three reasons why Cambodia is a great place to visit. The first reason Cambodia is a great place to visit is the tourist destinations. ...

As a conclusion, Istanbul is the best place I have ever visited because it is a combination between past and present, old and modern and it is the place that any human would dream to live at. In my opinion, I would totally support the famous statement that Napoleon Bonaparte once said, “If the whole world was one country, Istanbul would be its capital.”

Who Will Do My Homework for Me?

In the age of the gig economy, it’s no wonder you can rent an apartment the world over, hail a driver through your smartphone, or pay people to do your homework. There are dozens of quality writing services online, and most work just like Uber or Airbnb. They connect freelance academic writers looking for extra cash with overworked students in need of help.

Buying homework is just like calling an Uber. You explain what you need, and the system automatically finds the person best suited to meet your requirements. The person doing homework for you is usually someone with a degree in your field of study with a couple of years of writing experience and a good reputation among students. And the best thing is that you don’t have to waste time screening writers; the writing company does the legwork for you. Even the payments work almost the same as with Uber, with the bulk of the sum going to the writer and a small commission awarded to the writing company that connected you two.

Will You Do My Homework for Me Cheap?

Do you want good paper or cheap paper?

There can’t be a third option that’s both good and cheap because we don’t live in a perfect world. The truth is there are cheaper services, but they usually hire undergrads from third-world countries to do the job. So when they pay their writers $2 per page, they can afford to charge you $8 and still make a profit.

We go the other way around and start with the best writers money can buy - professionals with proven credentials and writing experience. Of course, they don’t work for free, but we still manage to keep the prices manageable for most students. And if you want to save more - order early and look out for discount codes and special offers.

Why Should I Trust You to Do My Homework for Me Online?

We respect your desire to keep the details of your order, your name and your college to yourself. And we will never disclose this information to third parties. It’s Always a Good Idea to Pay People to Do Your Homework

It’s all about your school and life goals.

If you got into college for a degree and better employment prospects, you need to get through the four years as fast as possible and make most of the networking opportunities the campus presents. In this case, when you ask us, ‘Write my homework for me,’ you’re making a wise and profitable investment in your future.

If you’re in school to learn and become the best in the field, it pays to outsource the assignments from all those required classes that have nothing to do with your major. There’s no sense in wasting your valuable time on homework that won’t do anything for your career prospects. It’s smarter to let professionals handle it while you focus on what really matters to you.

If you’re already in college and still have no idea what you want to do with your life, now is the time to sample everything campus life has to offer. And getting out of homework is the first step towards finding your passion, especially if your assignments are nothing but a series of dull essays on the same stale topics.

The Benefits of Write My Homework For Me Services

It’s not just about saving your time or getting out of boring schoolwork. When you buy a paper from us, we throw in a few free extras to make your experience even better.

Free Revisions

We guarantee your assignment will be perfect, and these aren’t empty promises. Our writers are that good, but they are also not afraid of producing the second, the third, or the tenth version of your paper. They will work on revisions for free until you are completely satisfied with the results. The only concession we ask of you is to give our writers time to rework your assignments. With sufficient leeway, they can work wonders.

Free Outline

We’ll throw in an outline of the paper to help you make sense of the structure. It may seem like a nuisance for an essay, but outlines are invaluable for long-form assignments, like research and term papers. Use it as you see fit, either to browse core ideas of the paper at a glance or as a guide to follow when working on a future homework assignment.

Perfect Formatting

We are taught not to judge books by their covers, but we all do, nonetheless. And that’s why every paper you get from us is formatted to perfection according to the current guidelines of your chosen style. You won’t find a single missing citation or reference, all because we stand on guard against plagiarism, even if it’s unintended or accidental.

Plagiarism-free

If plagiarism is your biggest concern when you’re thinking, ‘I want someone to write my homework,’ you can forget about your worries once you place an order with us. You won’t find a single sentence copypasted into your paper, a borrowed idea or an uncredited piece of data. Even if your school uses Turnitin or similar software, your homework will never raise red flags, and you’ll be 100% safe from any suspicions or accusations.

How can I get help with my homework?

Getting in touch with our support team is the easy way. Let them know what you need, and they’ll take you through the order process and keep you updated on its status. Or you can just set up an account and place an order like you would at Amazon. Once you pay for the assignment, we’ll take care of the rest.

Is paying someone to do your homework illegal?

Not really. We don’t know of any country that has laws against paying for getting your homework done. However, you should check with your school’s code and regulations. Some colleges and universities frown upon getting professional writing help.

How much does it cost for assignment help?

The prices range from around $10 per page to over $200 per page. High-school-level assignments on extended deadlines are the cheapest, while rush-order admission essays are the most expensive. Doctorate-level writing is also quite expensive. If you’re not sure you can afford to pay for homework help, use our calculator to get an instant quote.

Is assignment writing illegal?

No! It’s like asking if doing homework is illegal. You don’t see tutors, writing coaches or TAs getting arrested and put behind bars for helping students complete their assignments. For now, there’s not a single country in the world that prohibits assignment writing.

Who can help me with my homework?

There are plenty of offers of homework help online, both among freelance writers and academic help agencies. All you have to do is decide who you’re willing to trust - an anonymous freelancer or a respectable company with years of experience and hundreds of reviews from happy customers. Besides, no writer can cover your every class, but essay writing companies employ hundreds of experts who can do your homework on any topic.

Can I hire someone to do my homework?

You sure can. And with us, you don’t have to waste time choosing the perfect writer for your assignment. We’ll do the heavy lifting for you and find the right person to take care of your homework. As long as you provide us with enough details about your paper, we guarantee to match you with an expert.

What should I look for in a homework company?

Good reputation, realistic prices, transparent terms, and policies are all signs of a reliable writing service. So take your time when researching company background and genuine reviews, read the fine print in legalese. And don’t fall for the cheapest rates you see because they will likely cost you extra in the end.

Can you do my homework for me on any topic?

We employ hundreds of experts in dozens of academic fields, so there’s a 99.9% chance we can do your homework on any topic. But if you think that your major is too obscure or complex for us to handle, get in touch with our support team before placing an order. They will be able to look up the experts in your field and answer any questions about them.

Can you do my homework for me with zero plagiarism?

That’s the only way we do it! Plagiarism is a blight on academia that we’re set on eradicating one original paper at a time. So any piece you get from us will pass plagiarism checks like Turnitin with flying colors.

Can you deliver my homework within the deadline?

Sure, we promise your homework will be ready within the timeframe you set. Even if you only give our expert six hours to work on your assignment, you will receive it with time to spare.

Will you rework my order if it does not meet my requirements?

Sure, we offer free revisions for a reason. While our experts are good, they can’t always hit a bullseye on the first try. Feel free to send your assignment for revision with comments on what you want to be changed, and you’ll get an improved version within 24 hours. Please remember that your revision instructions should be in line with your initial requirements.

Historic buildings and museums, a walkable downtown, and oodles of New England charm. Have you ever visited the small, but bustling town of Bennington in the southwest corner of Vermont?

Downtown Bennington VT on a summer evening.

Not only is Bennington a historic gem, but it’s also incredibly beautiful in every season. Oh, and did I mention that Bennington, Vermont is also my hometown?

Beautiful places in Vermont are pretty easy to come by, and the natural beauty in and around Bennington is what made me fall in love with it more than 16 years ago.

In fact, I’ve lived in Bennington longer than anywhere else, and I can’t imagine calling any other place home, no matter how much I love to galivant around the country.

Located just three and a half hours from New York City, three hours from Boston, and an hour from Albany, Bennington is the gateway to Vermont, and well worth a visit no matter where you’re coming from.

I may be biased, but I think Bennington is one of the loveliest places to visit in all of Vermont, and it’s definitely one of the best spots to visit in Vermont in October.

The first thing you need to plan your trip to Bennington, VT is a little inspiration, so I’m sharing seven of the most beautiful spots in town to encourage you to drop everything and plan your visit.

Ready to explore the oh-so-charming and welcoming town of Bennington, Vermont? Here are some amazingly beautiful places in my hometown, as well as some reasons that I think you should plan a visit.

How to Get to Bennington, VT

First, a few logistics to make planning your trip to Bennington easy!

Bennington is located in the southwest corner of Vermont, basically right on the border of both New York to the west and Massachusetts to the south. It’s a pretty easy drive from anywhere in the northeast, which is why we recommend it as a great road trip destination.

Pro Travel Tip: Give yourself 2-3 days to explore all of Bennington, especially if you love the outdoors. If you want to explore some of the surrounding towns like Wilmington or Manchester, plan for at least 4 days.

If you’re visiting Bennington from out of state, the closest airport is Albany International, which is an easy one-hour drive. Again, maybe it’s a biased opinion, but I adore flying in and out of the Albany Airport and always consider myself very fortunate that it is so close.

Why You Should Drop Everything and Visit Bennington, VT

With just about 14,000 people, Bennington is a small town surrounded by rolling hills, the Green Mountains, farms, and forests. By Vermont standards, it’s actually a big town – the sixth-largest in the state! Bennington is the county seat and a hub of activity in Southwestern Vermont.

If you love the outdoors, you will definitely fall in love with Bennington, where you can hike, paddle, fish, and mountain bike without leaving town.

Here are a few reasons why you have to visit Bennington, Vermont, as well as some beautiful outdoor spots that you won’t want to miss.

Bennington is Gorgeous in Just About Every Season

A fall foliage scene featuring farms and fields near North Bennington, Vermont.

I say just about because I’m not terribly fond of mud season . I’ve lost whole boots to muddy quagmires in the month of March, and I’ve known others who have lost cars! Luckily, mud season in Bennington is short, lasting through March, and as long as we keep climate change at bay, I think I can handle it.

Lucky for us all of us, mud season goes hand-in-hand with maple sugaring season , so I guess that’s reason enough to cut it some slack!

When you think of a typical Vermont vacation, you are likely thinking about fall and winter.

Autumn in Bennington is known for the jaw-dropping foliage that blankets the forests and mountains in colorful displays. And winter, of course, is famous for skiing and snowboarding in the Green Mountains.

Bennington is about 45 minutes from Bromley Mountain and just under an hour from Mount Snow.

I love Vermont in every season, but there’s nowhere I’d rather be than here in Bennington in the summer.

We’ve got swimming holes. Creemee stands. Fireflies. Mountain Sunsets. Farmers’ markets. I just wish summer in Vermont lasted a bit longer!

8 Beautiful Places to Visit in and around Bennington, V ermont

Have I convinced you to book your next vacation in Bennington, VT?

Well, let me sweeten the pot by sharing some of my favorite spots with you. The following destinations in and around Bennington are heavy on natural beauty, with a bit of history and pure New England charm thrown in for good measure. I’ll admit that I’m an outdoor-lovin’ gal, so my favorite places reflect that.

Whether you’re just passing through Bennington or are making it your destination, these are spots you won’t want to miss.

The Old First Church in Old Bennington, VT

The Old First Church in Bennington, VT.

Judging by the number of tour buses and photographers I’ve seen at the Old First Church over the years, I think it might just be the most photographed building in New England. The Old First Church is such a lovely place to explore, even if you’re not visiting during leaf-peeping season.

If you do find yourself here in any season, be sure to check out the rest of Old Bennington. It’s like stepping back in time. You can even take a self-guided walking tour around town.

The Old First Church is the first gathered church in Vermont. Although the church that stands there now isn’t the original, it’s been around since 1805.

Sunday worship takes place at 10 am during the summer months and 11 am during the rest of the year. You can also pop in for a tour with a local volunteer when the church is open.

The Old First Church is open for visitors every weekend from Memorial Day to July 1st, and daily from July 1st to the end of Vermont’s fall foliage season.

While you’re there, be sure to visit the grave of one of our most famous residents, Robert Frost, who is buried in the beautiful old graveyard between the Old First Church and the Bennington Museum, which is another great stop for lovers of both art and history.

The gravestone of Robert Frost in Bennington VT.

The Bennington Battle Monument

While you’re in Old Bennington, you won’t want to miss a tour of the Bennington Monument, which you can see from the Old First Church. At 306 feet, the Bennington Monument is the tallest building in the state. It’s the most popular of all Vermont state historic sites, and the views from the top are spectacular.

The Bennington Monument was completed in 1889 to commemorate the Battle of Bennington, which took place on August 16, 1777. In that famous battle, Brigadier General John Stark and 1,400 New Hampshire men defeated two detachments of the British army, who were seeking to capture a store of weapons and food maintained where the monument now stands.

Although the battle is called the Battle of Bennington, it actually took place about 10 miles west in Walloomsac, New York.

Visitors can ride to the top in an elevator from mid-April until October 31st from 9 am to 5 pm.  Learn all about Bennington’s place in the Revolutionary War, and be sure to have a picnic on the lawn.

This is also one of my favorite spots for dog walking on a summer evening.

The Robert Frost House in Shaftsbury, Vermont

I’ve already mentioned that Mr. Frost is buried in Bennington, but he lived for a period in a little stone house in Shaftsbury, the next town over.

The Robert Frost Stone House Museum is run by Bennington College and is open for visitors from Friday through Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm.

The Robert Frost Stone House Museum in Bennington, Vermont.

While visiting this literary landmark, be sure to walk the grounds and perhaps the beautiful nature trail that starts behind the barn and heads out to Lake Paran in North Bennington.

The Robert Frost Trail is 2 miles, one way, and meanders through the woods and along stone walls. It’s easy to envision Robert Frost walking these same country trails before heading home to pen some of his most famous works.

Lake Shaftsbury State Park , Shaftsbury, Vermont

While you’re in Shaftsbury checking out the Robert Frost House, please take a walk around the lake at Lake Shaftsbury State Park .  This is a small but gorgeous park with a beach for swimming, great bird watching, and a really nice trail that meanders around the lake.

Dogs are welcome on the trails, but not on the beach. The hike around the lake is just about a mile – it meanders through a gorgeous wetland, onto a ridge, and over two nice walking bridges. Lake Shaftsbury is also a great place to throw a line in and catch some trout.

If you go during the main season (Memorial Day—the second Monday in October), the cost is $5 for adults and $2 for kids. During the off-season, you can park outside the gate and walk into the park. In the summer, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats are available for rent.

Woodford State Park in Woodford, V ermont

Another gem is Woodford State Park, just 10 miles outside of Bennington, in the Green Mountains east of town. This quiet park has several nature trails, a small lake, and kayak/canoe rentals.

If you’re itching to go camping, Woodford State Park is where you want to do it. Sites are very private, and some are located directly on the water. The lake at Woodford State Park is cold, even in summer, but it’s such a paradise!

In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful places in all of Vermont.

A fall scene at Woodford State Park in Vermont. Fog lifts off the pond and is surrounded by colorful trees.

The Appalachian Trail in Bennington, V ermont

The famous long-distance trail runs across Route 9 between Bennington and Woodford, and there’s a parking area right off the road for hikers. The Appalachian Trail runs north and south, but we prefer hiking south to Harmon Hill for the beautiful views of Bennington.

The hike up to Harmon Hill starts off really steep for a good, heart-pounding climb. After a mile or so, it levels off and travels through a high meadow, finally opening up to awesome views. The hike totals around 3 miles, with a total elevation gain of 1,000 feet.

If you hike north on the Appalachian Trail, you will head up Maple Hill in the Glastenbury Wilderness. This is another steep hike but without the view at the end. Still, it’s a lovely hike through the woods and worth checking out.

Park McCullough House in North Bennington, V ermont

This historic Victorian-era house was built in 1864 and is considered one of New England’s finest and best-preserved Victorian mansions.

You can visit this beauty, the working farm behind it, and the lovely Mile-Around-Woods hiking trail all in one afternoon. This is one of my favorite places to walk and take pictures, and we always bring visitors from out of state here for picnics.

Park McCullough House in North Bennington, Vermont.

Park McCullough House is open for tours on weekends from summer until the end of fall foliage season. Admission is $15 per person.

Special events are also hosted throughout the summer, including concerts, movies, wine tastings, and free yoga in the garden.

Bennington Area Trail System, Bennington

BATS bennington vermont

Bennington Area Trail System (BATS) manages trails on the side of Mount Anthony behind what used to be Southern Vermont College. The trails are used by hikers, mountain bikers, and winter enthusiasts, and the views from this part of Bennington are really incredible!

BATS was founded by a group of local bikers, runners, and hikers who advocate for multi-use singletrack trails for the enjoyment of area residents and visitors alike. There are trails for all abilities, lots of wildlife, and even a cave!

Here’s a trail map to help you plan your hike/bike.

As you can see, Bennington, Vermont is one of the most beautiful spots in the state!

Tropical Storm Beryl brings "life-threatening storm surge," leaves millions without power in Texas

Updated on: July 8, 2024 / 3:10 PM EDT / CBS/AP

Beryl made landfall early Monday morning as a hurricane, slamming into the Gulf Coast of Texas between Galveston and Corpus Christi — just south of Houston — as a tumultuous Category 1 storm.

By late morning, power outages across Texas topped 2.5 million homes and businesses, according to the tracking site  PowerOutage.us , and that number continued to climb during the afternoon. Around 3,400 flights  were canceled or delayed Monday , many originating or ending in Texas airports, as airlines began feeling the impacts of the hurricane that has now weakened to a tropical storm .

Even after it was downgraded from a hurricane, Beryl continued to tear through Texas with maximum wind speeds near 70 mph, and higher gusts, before dropping to 60 mph as the afternoon progressed. Maximum sustained winds need to be at least 74 mph for a storm to be considered a hurricane.

At least two deaths have been reported in Texas amid the storm. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Monday morning a man was dead after a tree fell on a home in Atascocita, which is in the Houston area. In a separate incident, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said a tree fell through the roof of a home, killing a 74-year-old woman.

Storm forecast and impacts

Beryl lashed southeastern Texas with torrential downpours and powerful winds as it moved farther inland in the hours after landfall. But meteorologists said the potential storm surge — forecast to reach 6 feet in some areas — was among the greatest causes for concern.

As of 2 p.m. EDT, the National Hurricane Center said gusty winds and flash flooding were ongoing in eastern Texas. Even after the storm passes, the center urged people to be cautious of "deadly hazards" that could remain, "including downed power lines and carbon monoxide poisoning from improper generator use."

The hurricane center had said Monday morning that "life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds and flooding rainfall" was spreading over southeastern Texas as Beryl continued tracking northward.

Tropical Weather Texas

The hurricane center lifted storm surge and tropical storm warnings that had been in effect for a 255-mile stretch of southeastern coastal Texas, from Port O'Connor to Sabine Pass, including Matagorda Bay and Galveston Bay. But both warnings remained in place for areas between San Luis Pass and Sabine Pass, a stretch of the coast about half as long.

Previous hurricane warnings that had for part of the day extended out from Port O'Connor to Port Bolivar and Mesquite Bay were discontinued.

A tropical storm warning means that weather conditions typically associated with a tropical storm, like powerful winds and rain, are expected within the warning area, according to the hurricane center. The same is true for a storm surge warning, which portends "a danger of life-threatening inundation, from rising water moving inland from the coastline."

Storm surge was forecast to reach 5 or 6 feet along vast stretches of the Texas coastline, from Matagorda to High Island. Areas from Galveston Bay northward to High Island braced for the most severe inundation, which forecasters warned could be worse if peak surges coincided with high tide.

Reporting from Galveston at 8 a.m., CBS News correspondent Omar Villafranca said peak wind gusts of 70 mph had spun up a "nonstop" mix of sand and rain in the coastal city. Villafranca said that had been the case for several hours.

Texas Tropical Weather

The National Weather Service Houston office  warned  Monday morning: "An elevated weather station near the Houston Metro (located at an elevation of 226 ft — so fairly high up there) has gusted to 81 mph at 6:15am. Anyone in a high-rise in the Metro, please do not go out on balconies and stay away from windows."

CBS News senior weather and climate producer David Parkinson said the Houston metropolitan area has been getting drenched with in 2-3 inches of per per hour. He said the area can expect up to a foot of rain and possibly flash floods.

"Heavy rainfall of 5 to 10 inches with localized amounts of 15 inches is expected across portions of the middle and upper Texas Gulf Coast and eastern Texas today into tonight," the hurricane center said. "Considerable flash and urban flooding as well as minor to isolated major river flooding is expected."

Beryl caused flight disruptions Sunday night that had become worse by Monday. United Airlines had the greatest number of cancellations on Monday morning, with 406, according to FlightAware data. The airline told CBS News it was planning to largely suspend flying out of Houston on Monday. American Airlines said it was similarly planning to suspend operations at Houston airports until around 3 p.m. EDT Monday.

Beryl's core is expected to  move  over eastern Texas Monday, then move through the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday," the hurricane center said. "Steady to rapid weakening is expected as the center moves inland, and Beryl is expected to weaken to a tropical storm later today and to a tropical depression on Tuesday."

Map of Hurricane Beryl's path after making landfall in Texas

Disaster declaration, closures and evacuations

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who is serving as the state's acting governor while Gov. Greg Abbott is traveling overseas, issued a preemptive disaster declaration over the weekend for 121 counties.

Some areas were under mandatory evacuation orders.  Refugio County , which is just north of Corpus Christi, ordered a mandatory evacuation on Saturday afternoon. Port Aransas, located on a barrier island in Nueces County just east of Corpus Christi, ordered a mandatory evacuation for all visitors beginning at noon Sunday. All Nueces County residents were also "strongly encouraged" to evacuate as well, county officials said .

Along with some mandatory evacuations, Texas coastal cities called for voluntary evacuations in low-lying areas prone to flooding, banned beach camping and urged tourists traveling on the July 4 holiday weekend to move recreational vehicles from coastal parks.

But as the storm neared the coast, Texas officials said they were worried that not enough residents and beach vacationers in Beryl's path had heeded warnings to leave.

"One of the things that kind of trigger our concern a little bit, we've looked at all of the roads leaving the coast and the maps are still green," Patrick said. "So we don't see many people leaving."

Beryl Set To Regain Hurricane Status On Approach To Texas

The Houston Independent School District announced it was closing all campuses and buildings on Monday and Tuesday due to the storm.

"All summer classes and activities are canceled, and all District activities and events – including professional development and recruiting sessions – are canceled," HISD said in a message to families and staff on Sunday evening.

Beryl's deadly, destructive path

Beryl caused at least 11 deaths as it passed through the Caribbean islands last week. Beryl then hit Tulum, Mexico, as a  Category 2  hurricane before weakening to a tropical storm as it moved across the peninsula.

The head of Mexico's civil defense agency, Laura Velázquez, said Beryl hadn't caused any deaths or injuries there and that "damages were minor," though tens of thousands of people remained without power.

Palm trees move during heavy winds and rain from Hurricane Beryl in Cancun, Mexico, July 5, 2024.

Tulum was plunged into darkness when the storm knocked out power as it came ashore. Screeching winds set off car alarms across the town. Wind and rain continued to whip the seaside city and surrounding areas Friday morning. Army brigades roved the streets of the tourist city, clearing fallen trees and power lines.

Mexico Tropical Weather

Although no dead or wounded have been reported, nearly half of Tulum continued to be without electricity, said Laura Velázquez, national coordinator of Mexican Civil Protection.

Before hitting Mexico and moving into the Gulf, Beryl had spread destruction in Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados. Three people have been reported dead in Grenada, three in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, three in Venezuela and two in Jamaica, officials said.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness promised swift relief for residents affected by Hurricane Beryl after visiting one of the worst-affected areas of the island, the southern parish of St Elizabeth on Thursday afternoon.

"I know some of you are experiencing discomfort and displacement, and I want to assure you that the government will move as quickly as we can to get you the help you need," he said.

Barbados Hurricane Beryl damage

Earlier in the week, the hurricane damaged or destroyed 95% of homes on a pair of islands in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, jumbled fishing boats in Barbados and ripped off roofs and knocked out electricity in Jamaica.

On Union Island, part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a man who identified himself as Captain Baga described the storm's impact, including how he had filled two 2,000-gallon rubber water tanks in preparation.

"I strapped them down securely on six sides; and I watched the wind lift those tanks and take them away — filled with water," he said Thursday. "I'm a sailor and I never believed wind could do what I saw it do. If anyone (had) ever told me wind could do that, I would have told them they lie!"

The island was littered with debris from homes that looked like they had exploded.

Historic hurricane

Beryl was the earliest storm to develop  into a Category 5 hurricane  in the Atlantic, and was only the second Category 5 storm recorded in July since 2005, according to the hurricane center.

It took Beryl only 42 hours to strengthen from a tropical depression to a major hurricane, which is a  Category 3 storm or higher  — a feat accomplished only six other times in Atlantic hurricane history, and with Sept. 1 as the earliest date, according to hurricane expert Sam Lillo.

Beryl was also the third Category 3 hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic in June, following Audrey in 1957 and Alma in 1966, hurricane specialist and storm surge expert Michael Lowry said.

"Beryl is an extremely dangerous and rare hurricane for this time of year in this area," he told the AP in a phone interview. "Unusual is an understatement," he said, calling Beryl historic.

Hurricane Ivan in 2004 was the last strongest hurricane to hit the southeast Caribbean, causing catastrophic damage in Grenada as a Category 3 storm.

Beryl is the second named storm in what is predicted to be a busy hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30 in the Atlantic. Last month, Tropical Storm Alberto brought torrential flooding to portions of southern Texas and northeastern Mexico. It was responsible for at least four deaths in the Mexican states of Nuevo Leon and Veracruz.

According to CBS News weather producer Parkinson, Beryl is the farthest east a hurricane has formed in June, and one of only two to do so east of the Caribbean, with the other instance occurring in 1933.

Warm waters fueled Beryl, with ocean heat content in the deep Atlantic the highest on record for this time of year , according to Brian McNoldy, University of Miami tropical meteorology researcher.
